My favorite family guy person is stewie. He is so funny!

Brian is my favorite character. I think the show is still really good, Simpsons has jumped the shark a little though.

Something, Something, Something, Dark Side

Has anyone seen the Family Guy parody of Star Wars Episode V. I just finished watching it and thought that it was pretty good.

I've merged your thread, xKindred_Silencex, with our main Family Guy discussion thread. :)

Yes i think its funny but, i hate it when they make jokes about Jesus and stuff it makes me want to stop watching it. other than that its funny i wish they would cut that out its not funny at all and it makes me very upset. thanks my favorite character would have to be Meg i think shes left out too much and they make fun of her too much seriously.... and call her ugly... she looks like her mom except different hair and stuff. k ^_^

>_o I'm personally not a fan of Family Guy...or any of the related shows...like American Dad...I'm not a huge fan of South Park either...my reasoning being that I feel humor can be achieved with jokes and other stuff like that that doesn't involve sex, drugs, etc. Call me old fashioned, but I'm more of a fan of Bill Cosby's stand up comedy act. I laugh at his stuff every time I listen to it, and he doesn't swear, talk about sex, or drugs, or anything and he's still funny. I don't care as much if there's a little bit of swearing in comedy...I love watching Whose Line is it Anyways? and they do swear sometimes. But when a show uses comedy that uses jokes that involve drugs (like a person being drunk...or even a person being high as an example), sex, etc the majority of the time, I just don't find it all that funny. I will admit there have been a couple of episodes of Family Guy I did like. And there were a couple of episodes that actually have a good message to them (like the episode where Lois was promoting schools teaching safe sex). But I'm not a huge fan of the show as a whole.

I'm not wanting to start some huge brewhaha with my post. If people like watching it, then that's fine, I'm just personally not a fan of the show.

Yes i agree its a bit too much cussing i cuss sometimes but, i dunno... lol (: im not really that fond of familyguy now its really not that funny idk why i watch it i guess i just got use to it... but its always reruns anyway usually lol

Linnea 12-16-2009 08:22 PM

i don't really care for the south park or american dad shows either, but i really like family guy and i'm not really sure why... i guess sometimes it seems like my family a little bit in that we are all pretty crazy sometimes...
anyhoo, my favorite episode was the one where peter had to have a his colon checked and of course chaos ensues... that is also the episode where stewie gets very attached to lois; when she saved rupert from a nasty dog...
oh and my other favorite was when peter started using a tab at the pharmacy... to be specific my favorite part was when he, brian, stewie and chris drink ipecac syrup and start vomiting everywhere and all over each other... yea, i know, kind of a gross thought, but so funny!

Saisei 12-17-2009 11:30 AM

Family Guy isn't meant to have a message, or a greater purpose, or anything really. It's meant to be mindless self indulgence, and it succeeds on all counts. Some people just like their entertainment to be entertainment and nothing else. *shrug*

I don't really like Family Guy, and I don't have a favorite character. I'm mostly posting here because the show is on like four times a day, so I wind up watching it in spite of myself.

I do have a favorite scene, though. I forget which eppy it is, but Peter is trying to cheer up Chris, and brings him a frog in a box. He's poked holes in its back so it can breathe, and then realizes the frog is dead. So he then tries to toss it out the window, and spends like, 30 seconds trying to as he keeps failing. It doesn't sound like much, but 30 seconds in TV time is like 3 hours. It's genius.

xKindred_Silencex 12-22-2009 05:15 AM

Family Guy comes on my house at least 12 times a day maybe more or less depending on the day.

the 30 seconds you mentioned is done a lot in family guy lol and it is genius! my favorite 'too long' scene i think had the grim reaper in it and peter is running away from him and falls and sits on the pavement holding his knee going 'oooh' and 'aaah' for what seems like forever... it always makes me laugh... :D

BinkaKitty 12-23-2009 05:04 AM

i just thought of what is always my favorite things from family guy. one, that retarded way chris says what. another is from those episodes with james wood, where peter and brain trap him with the candy.

Finally was able to find this thread, thank you jellysundae!

I absolutely love this show. It's humor has various styles and can make anyone laugh at some points, even if the person doesn't generally like the show.

ToriKat 07-05-2010 01:06 AM

I always see critics complaining that Family Guy relies on cutaways to make jokes. I rather like the cutaways and pop references. That episode where Brian and Stewie were stuck in the bank bored me out of my mind. Meanwhile critics squealed over it. *rolls eyes*

What do you guys think?

PWEEP 07-05-2010 01:24 AM

Agreed. It was a little...awkward though, the episode. But maybe they wanted to make it that way, to clear up some things between Brian and Stewie. And who says humor has to be all high collar and rich? You don't have to make a "joke" to be funny. It's supposed to be stupidly funny, and that's why it's great.

At least it's not like some of the other shows on [adult swim] like Tim and Eric. That's just stupid, it's not funny. Then again, that's my opinion xD Funny is what people make of it.
