Isaac looked around and then saw a crack in the door to the closet. He slowly headed over there and opened it. Right away he saw Vera and she looked kind of scared, "Vera? you okay?" he asked as he gently reached in and placed a hand on her. He wondered if she had hurt herself or something.

Vera jumped when he placed a hand on her. Seeing the light, Vera ran out into the light and sighed. "I was scared...I'm scared of the dark...I always think that something is going to get me." she said and turned to face him. "I know that sounds childish...but I really am scared of the dark...I got a nightlight once when I was smaller and I still use it." she explained to him.

Isaac was surprised when he heard her and then smiled at her. It was a careing smile and he placed a hand on her shoulder, "dont worry, I completely understand, you didn' thave to explain anything ot me." he said as he looked at her. "we all have something we are afraid of and you dont have to be scared anymore. YOu have me to protect you of anything now." he said as he looked at her.

Vera smiled in return and hugged him. "I know...and I am happy to have someone like you to talk to. Being a princess is very boring...especially when you are alone. Now I am not though, and I am happy to be protected by a friend." she said to him then let go. "Hmm...what now?" she said then snapped her fingers and smiled. "I know...cookies and milk!" she said and puleed him. "Come, we go to the kitchen now!" she said and ran off to the kitchen.

Isaac was surprised by the hug but hugged her back happily. He was glad that she considered him a friend and would protect her even more now. He then tilted his head when he heard Cookies and milk, "uh what is Cookies? I know what milk it but what is the other thing?" he asked as he looked at her and then ran after her. He was still learning about this outside word and with Vera he seemed to learn something new every day.

Vera smiled at a maid. "I request that you make me a batch of chocolate chip and gingerbread men cookies! I am hungry and want to eat cookies." she ordered. The maid nodded and quickly got the things needed and began to bake. Vera then looked over at Isaac and motioned for him to sit down across from her. "I will show you once they are finished. I am sure that you will like them very much. I love eating cookies as a snack. We can eat them and then we can think of something else you would like to see and learn about." she said to him kindly.

Isaac sat down across from her and smiled at her, "okay and I hope I like cookies too." he said and wondered what they tasted like. He bet that they tasted like the best thing ever. He then looked at her, "and I would love to see anything and everything. I have only ever seen glimpses of the word while I was let out." he said and wanted to learn everything he could about the outside world.

Vera looked at her and nodded. "Trust me Isaac, you will LOVE the cookies that Jeane bakes. I believe that they are the best!" she said to him. Jeane only smiled as she continued to bake the cookies. Once the cookies were done, Jeane placed them on a plate and piled the cookies high since she had made a lot knowing Vera would want a lot. "Careful Princess...they are hot..." she said to Vera and went to get them their milk. Jeane then poured them their milk and excused herself. Vera smiled and looked over at Isac. "Try one of each..." she said and smiled.

Isaac smiled at jeane and then took a cookie. He stared at it and wondered if it would really taste that good. It looked like some kind of bread with raisins In it. He then shrugged and took a bite out of it. He was surprised at how tasty it was and then looked at Vera, "this is amazing." he said and started to eat one of each. He wanted to continue to eat them all day long.

Vera smiled. "I knew you would like them. These are chocolate chip cookies." she said handing him one chocolate chip cookie. "These are gingerbread men cookies." she said and handed him one. Vera wondered where her father was and decided to give some to him too. "Come...we will take some to my father and then we will come back and eat some more." she said to Isaac. Vera poured another glass of milk and began to walk around the castle in search for her father.

Isaac smiled and stood up as he ate the gingerbread man cookie. It tasted good but he still liked the chocolate ship cookie better. He followed her down the hall looking for her father when he saw him in his study. He tapped Vera on the shoulder and pointed inside. The king saw them walk by and smiled at Vera, "what can I help you with, vera?" he asked as he smiled at her and then looked at Isaac. Isaac looked down and took a small step away from vera which made the king happy. THe king didn't want isaac to be anything but a friend to vera.

"Father...don't scare Isaac." she said and smiled. "I brought you some cookies that Jeane just made..." she said and handed her father the cookies. "I also brought you some milk..." she said and handed him the milk. "Enjoy them father." she said and smiled cheerfully. Vera hoped that her father enjoyed the cookies because she knew that she wasn't going to be able to eat all the cookies by herself. It seemed that Jeane had made a lot more than she usually did.

The king laughed and took a cookie, "I am not scareing him, I am just making sure he knows his place." he said and then took a bite of one of the cookies. He then smiled at Vera, "and thank you for the cookies, they are the best." he said as he took a sip of the milk. Isaac stayed next to her and made sure that he didn't get to close to Vera. He knew that her father didn't want him to be close to her.

Vera listened to him and shrugged. "If you say so father..." she said and looked over at Isaac and smiled. "Father...Isaac and I are going to go for a walk...we'll be back before it gets dark...I hope..." she said and looked over at her father. "Oh, and I'm happy to know that you like the cookies...there are more at the kitchen table if you want more." she added.

The king nodded and was already getting back to his paper work. "okay but don't do anything stupid." he said and then looked up at Isaac, "protect her." he said simplah and then nodded again when he heard her say where the other cookies where. Isaac nodded when he heard the king and then smiled at Vera, "lead the way." he said happily and was happy to get out of there and from her father.

Vera nodded. "I promise father..." she said and turned to Isaac. "Okay then...come with me!" she said and began to walk out to the living room and left out the door. There, she waited for him. Many people passed by and bowed politely when they passed by her as they walked. Vera smiled and bowed back politely.

Isaac smiled at Vera and walked out of there after her. He smiled when he saw her waiting for him outside and saw her bowing to some people. He smiled at her and stood next to her happily, "okay, so just show me the way." he said as he looked at her and then thought for a second that she looked sort of cute.

Vera nodded. "Okay...well what things do you already know of?" she asked him. "That way I will know what it is that I have to show you." she added and began to walk to the park. Vera loved the swings and loved swinging on them for hours. "Do re mi fa so..." she said and skipped happily.

Isaac thought for a second and then said, "I know that there are different classes when it comes to people, that if you are to kill things you have to stay hiden and only a few other things that involve killing." he said as he looked at her. he didn't know much of the world at all. "so in other words I have a lot to learn." he said as he walked after her and smiled when he saw to the park, "is this a forest? are we going hunting?" he asked.

Vera smiled as she sat on a swing. "No silly, this is the park...it has a lot of trees for shade. I come here to swing on these swings." she said and pointed to the other parts of the park. "That is the jungle gym where you swing from bar to bar keeping off teh floor until you reach the other side." she said and smiled. "The park also has slides...but I never go on the slides because I might tear my dress." she said to him and began to swing herself.

Isaac looked around and then walked over to the jungle gym. He jumped up and without any effort managed to do them. He then looked over at Vera, "so in other wards this Park is like a training center." he said as he walked over to her and sat down next to her on the other swing. "so what else does this park offer besides training and shade?" he asked as he looked at her and smiled.

Vera giggled. "Well...people come here on picnics." she said to him. "A picnic is when two or more people come with a basket full of sandwiches and some drinks and a blanket. They place the blanket spread out on the grass and sit down and begin to eat the stuff they brought and talk." she explained.

Isaac nodded and thought about that, "but aren't they worryed that someone might come and try to kill them or raid them?" he asked as he looked at her. It seemed kind of foolish to him to go outside and just sit around. There where preditors everywhere and he knew that they where wide open prey when sitting down and eating. "wouldn't it be wiser to run around and eat on your feet?"

Vera smiled. "Well....I guess it is a little dangerous...but people don't really stay fro too long. If they get attacked...our guards are sometimes walking around. So if there is trouble, they go and end it." she said and shook her head at what he said. "If people did that Isaac, they would choke. I know I would..." she said to him and looked at a bird as it chirped a few times then flew away.

Isaac nodded when he heard her, "well that is good but I still dont see why people would sit around like sitting ducks." he said as he looked at her and then chuckled, "well that is you, for me I can eat anywhere, I had to learn to since I had to eat on the run sometimes." he said and then heared the bird he pressed his lips together and managed to mimick the chirp perfectly. It was so perfect that the bird came over and rested on his shoulder.
