Well, it depends on my mood and what kind of book i'm reading. But usually I don't read the ending first. Sometimes, it's better to read the ending, in this way you can understand will be that book interesting to read at all or won't be interesting. This is my opinion!

Poppy Yukia 10-25-2009 11:12 PM

Sometimes i do if it is part of a series i like and i dont want to see a charecter die or I want them to get together but if it is a brand new book I don't like to read the ending cause it ruins the book and then I don't want to read it. SO it just depends on what the book is.

I read the last book to the harry potter series >,>; and been watching the movies. lol

Jin-Ya 10-26-2009 12:28 AM

I can't. I like surprise, but my friend does that and it drives me up the wall!!

danielley990 11-21-2009 03:44 AM

My boyfriend does this and I just can't understand it. I do have this habit of my eyes going over to the next page and try to start reading but I always stay on trax. I have never have had the urge to read the end.

That is what i do because i am just bored...

XxA_Wistful_InsanityxX 11-21-2009 10:55 PM

I've done it before...usually only to see where a series moves to...if the new one hasn't even begun...

AldreaOrcinae 11-28-2009 09:27 PM

I used to be really bad about that; now I let myself read the absolute last sentence of a book, and that's all. I hate spoilers :P

KamiKira 11-28-2009 11:35 PM

I used to feel kind of weird doing it. I always read the ending first. I don't know why I do, but it's not like I'm bothered by the ending. It actually makes me really curious to know how that ending came about and often times will hook me into reading the book. So if I don't like the ending I probably won't read it. But I do it when I'm writing as well. I always start with the ending then write the beginning and when I was a film student I always did everything backwards. So I guess it only makes sense that I read the ending first to get to the beginning.

I did it with my current book, but it kind of has two endings and I didn't realize that until I flipped through it halfway through. XD; Now I'm really excited and curious to get through it! Also, it has turned out to be an amazing read.

Captain Pains 11-28-2009 11:47 PM

I read the endings all the time. Usually the last chapter or a few pages before the end. Only because I hate suspense and not knowing what's going to happen. Having to guess and find out I was wrong. I hate that. And when someone suggests a book to me that they just finished, thinking I'll like it, they tell me a little bit of it. I ask what happens in the end and they say "You gotta read it!" I HATE THAT.

D:<
If I don't have the book in my hands, I cant read the ending to see if I'll like it. That's why I say "Don't worry. I want you to spoil it for me so I can read it." They look at me weird and switch the conversation. I have yet read a book someone suggested to me cause they never tell me the ending. xD

I'm lame, I know.
But this is how I read. > 3<

SnowFlame 11-29-2009 02:43 PM

yep, me too! before buying or reading a book, i make sure to read first the last chapter. it started when i had a few books that started so well and i thought it would have a happy ending but it ended with the main characters dead which made me so disappointed and heartbroken for a few days(i get very affected with the books i read). so to spare me that heartache ever again, i make sure that i know what will become of them first....
i really thought i was the only one! nice to meet someone like me and you! XD....

trynne 11-30-2009 02:41 AM

I almost always read the ending before I finish the book. I tend to predict the endings anyway. If I don't read the entire page I might just skim for a specific name to see if they made it to the end.

TerrenaAnimula 11-30-2009 02:48 AM

I have never read part of the ending to determine if the books is good. I normally pick out a book by the cover and then reading the back (or inside flap if it doesn't have a summary or excerpt on the back) to determine if it is going to be any good. Although, I have picked some bad books that way. And some were horrible in the begging but got really good towards the middle and end.

Akpyro 12-06-2009 12:16 AM

Sometimes I'll read the last page either before I start reading the book or some time while I'm reading it. That usually keeps me interested in the book 'cause then I wanna know how the got to that ending. :D

kattsyn 12-07-2009 08:46 PM

I'll skip to the end, if the book is getting dry/boring but I read mysteries a lot & I like to guess the ending. I'll wait for it to come to the library to read it, cuz my apartment is too small.

Death_to_the_reaper 12-08-2009 08:21 AM

I do that for a book I want to read.
If the ending is good, I read it.
If not, back to the library.

Eva-san 12-08-2009 10:32 AM

to be hounest i dnt like spoils but i do sometimes if im really desprete to kno the ending i end up flicking at the end to read wat hppnedXDbut i dnt like spoils thou

portraitinblack 12-08-2009 11:19 PM

I have in the past tried to read the last little bit of a book before, but only because I wondered why so many people I knew found it interesting.

I can honestly say it did nothing for me. Read the last line and often it's too generic for me to understand. Sometimes it's just hard to resist, even though it spoils the ending. Because you get the urge to know what happens and it's hard to wait. I find with some books I read that it's just impossible to wait. I still do, but it's hard when you get halfway through and suddenly feel like you're so far from the end.

Overall though, I think it does spoil the ending too much. It's not fun to know what's going to happen because then you miss all the fun twists and surprises throughout. It's not as real that way. If you know what the ending is, you might as well put the book down. That's why I generally like to read the book before I watch the movie based off it, because apart from the book always being better, once I know what happens in the movie, if I like it I probably won't want to read the book. (Like Lord of the Rings. It's so long and wordy, that I find it hard to get into, especially because from the movies I /know/ what happens.)

My best friend won't even read the summary of most books because often they give it away. (Like in Twilight, the back of the book gives away that he's a vampire.)

sweet windmelody 12-25-2009 02:22 AM

Yup. I always read the ending first. Even though my friend keep telling me that I will spoil the book. I don't want to read books that have a sad ending.

LaVida 01-03-2010 09:16 PM

I prefer to read from the beginning to the end >.< UNLESS it is a SUPER SUPER SUPER boring book XP

mwahhaha 01-06-2010 09:18 AM

You know, I tell others not to do that, and I even used to think that I didn't do that either. . .but I find myself reading half of the first chapter and then turning to the last chapter. If the last chapter doesn't give me the info I want, I guess about where the climax is and peek in there. LOL, it's kinda silly of me, but I'll admit it to anyone now.

Robard 01-06-2010 09:13 PM

Huh. I had no idea that it was so popular to read endings first; I have a friend who likes to and it's always confused me.
Who lives, who gets together--who cares? If it's a good book, the simple facts aren't very interesting--I'd rather follow the story, making and revising predictions throughout and being surprised in the end. And if it turns out that everyone dies, of course I'll be sad--but that doesn't mean the book wasn't worth reading.

Alchemist of Anarchy 01-08-2010 02:14 AM

Ack! Never read the ending to a book before buying it! Not only does it ruin the entire book, but most of the time the best part of a book is somewhere in the middle chapters. Imagine if you read the end of "Alice in Wonderland" all you would read is that Alice ends up back in her home and talking to her cat Diana. You would know nothing of all the whimsical and intriguing thing in the middle!

When I buy a book I read the back or the inside cover summary and if that intrigues me I'll start to read the first couple of pages/ chapters. And if I find that I am turning pages and cannot seem to stop then I know I have to buy the book.

Aganab 01-08-2010 02:46 AM

Sometimes, but not always, as it might spoil the whole thing. I do it only when I don't know will the book be interesting, but if I like the end, then I read it from the begging, of course.

Doodler 01-08-2010 06:45 AM

No way!!! Haha. I love a surprising ending. I would never read ahead. XD
