"We can head out there," Dean offered. "We're about three hours away right now." He had already turned off on the appropriate highway to head back to the girls' town even as he spoke.
|
"You're practically two states away," Runa protested. "We can't ask you to come back."
|
"Too bad, you're not asking. If it's an angel problem, we'll deal with it. Any chance to get back at those dicks." Dean drove a bit faster. He wasn't lying when he said he liked getting back at other angels.
|
"I can agree with you on that point, but still, Dean," Runa said. "We just need to lay low for a while, and we need to be not found while we do."
|
"Yeah, and we can get you out to somewhere no one can get to you," Dean pointed out. "It's not a big deal."
|
"You're not going to budge are you?" Runa asked. "We can take care of ourselves, we're big girls."
|
"And angels are giant dicks," Dean said with a snort. "It's no problem, we'll be there in two and a half hours and we'll take you to stay at a friend's for a few days."
|
Runa sighed. Clearly, nothing she was saying was having the correct impact.
"Alright, fine," she said. "We'll be ready." |
Dean hung up and dropped his phone on the seat next to him. Fortunately they were used to long drives.
"What did he say?" Kyra looked a bit anxious. |
"What was that about?" Sam asked, looking at Dean.
"They're on their way, somehow," Runa replied, putting her phone into her pocket. "Apparently they have a safehouse we can hide in for a while." |
"The girls need to hide from angels for a while," Dean said, looking over at him. "And as they don't have the rib decorations that we do, I figure we can stash 'em in Bobby's panic room."
"What?" Kyra's voice came out a little squeaky. "You realize a safe house means sigils and devils traps and all sorts of not-fun things." |
"Angel problems?" Sam's eyebrows went up a bit. "Wonder what's going on. Should we ask Cas about it?"
"I know," Runa replied. "I asked if they knew how to hide from angels, and all Dean said was either take refuge in the safehouse or ask Castiel about it." |
"They said they'd prefer to keep him out of it," Dean said after a moment. "But we'll see how much trouble they're in."
Kyra whimpered. Just a bit. Because life was so not fair. Not fair at all. But she went to go grab a bag with stuff for a few days. |
"So they're having angel trouble, but want to keep out the angel that's actually on our side?" Sam asked. He looked at Dean. "Doesn't that seem just the least bit weird to you?"
"I know," Runa said again. "They'll be here in a few hours. Keep an ear on Angel Radio in case we have to book it out of here before then. I'll get the essentials out of the car." |
"Yes. But, I dunno, maybe they just don't trust any angels? I sure wouldn't if I didn't know Cas." Dean shrugged. It was a thin excuse, but he was willing to give the girls the benefit of the doubt. For now.
Kyra nodded and went to pack up for both of them, grumbling to herself the whole time. Because she was not pleased. |
"I dunno," Sam said. "It just seems weird. First the reaction to the phone call in the diner, now this? I'm just saying maybe we should keep an eye on them."
Runa went outside, watching around cautiously as she went to the car. She just grabbed the basics; two new containers of salt, a container of salt rounds, the salt shotgun, their hunting journal, two jugs of holy water, and a few blades. She packed them into a duffel, making sure the salt and water didn't spill anywhere, and then quickly went back inside. |
"It will be very easy to keep an eye on them in Bobby's panic room," Dean pointed out. Which was true. And then he grinned. "Although I wouldn't mind keeping a close eye on Runa."
Kyra had their things packed into another large duffel bag. It was only for a few days, so she figured they could share, and get another bag if they needed to. "I think I've got everything, if you want to check." |
"Really, Dean?" Sam rolled his eyes. "Honestly, you've met her, what, three times?"
"Alright," Runa said. She handed Kyra the duffel of hunting gear. "Anything else we need to add to this?" |
"We've texted," Dean said defensively. "Besides, how many times do I need to have seen her? The first time was enough to know she's hot."
"I don't think so. I'll grab my angel blade, just in case, but as long as we have a normal knife too we should be fine." Because of course Kyra and Runa hadn't just killed an angel, they'd taken the blade. For insurance. |
Sam rolled his eyes again.
"Be careful with that," he said. "How many times have you slept with another hunter and it turned out alright?" Runa nodded. "I have my demon-killing blade," she said. "And I just made a new set of demon-killing bullets for the guns we usually use, so we should be okay. I grabbed the machete and the silver, and if two gallons of holy water isn't enough, then there isn't enough holy water in the world to take care of things. And all the salt we can carry." |
"You make it sound like I sleep with every female hunter, Sammy," Dean said with a little grin.
"Sounds good. I think we should be all set, then." Kyra sighed. "Now we just have to wait." |
Sam snorted.
"I know you," he said. Runa nodded and settled in, although she didn't relax. She wouldn't relax until they were safe. |
Dean just snorted but didn't really deny the charges, instead getting them to the town in the promised two and a half hours before tossing the phone over to Sam.
"You call and find out where they are and navigate for me so I don't hit anyone." |
Sam nodded and took the phone, dialing.
Runa saw the number on the display and handed the phone to Kyra. "Here, you talk to them, I'll keep watch outside for when they get here," she said. "The angels won't be able to sense me outside the house." |
"Alright. Just be careful, okay?" Kyra watched Runa go even as she answered. "You here already?"
