It's just the way all nature is. Even human beings. Many humans diss other humans if they are different, weaker, ect. We even fight for top positions and are constantly competing. .___. Wolves do what they do to keep order within the pack. But they are facing devastation right now.. The government here in the US took them out of protection and thousands of them have been murdered and trapped within a few months. I actively watch wolf programs and they often display the emails they get from wolf hunters. Some are extremely disturbing and sick.. One man actually said, "F*&K Yeah! I kill every one of them I see." Another man said, "I shoot them all. I don't kill them then and there, but I let them suffer and die on their own. Hell, I even gun down packs of dogs as well." Makes me sick.

Not all wolf packs do this. When the mate dies, some wolves will never mate again. Some will go out on their own seeking a new mate, and some will be challenged for the alpha position. Depends on the wolf species.
