fruits basket based role play *no more zodiacs but looking for other characters*
http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/t...ac-animals.gif
THe legend: A long, long time ago, God decided to invite all of the animals to a banquet. He sent out word for all of them to come to his house the following evening, "And don't be late!" he said. When the mischievous rat heard the news, he decided to play a trick on his neighbor, the cat. He told the cat that the party was the day after tomorrow. The very next day, all of the animals lined up for the celebration. The rat led the way, riding all the way there on the back of the cow. Everyone had a wonderful time, except for the cat, who missed the whole thing. The curse: The Sohma curse of the Chinese zodiac consists of three main categories- the Juunishi (zodiac), the cat, and the god. The Juunishi represent the twelve main zodiac animals- the rat, the cow (ox), the tiger, the rabbit, the dragon, the snake, the horse, the ram, the monkey, the rooster (bird), the dog, and the boar. The Juunishi are twelve people who transform with a "Poof!" into the animal they represent when they are embraced by a person of the opposite gender or when their bodies are under pressure (When they're sick, weak, etc.). Even if they are embraced by their own parents or siblings, given that they are the opposite gender, they transform. However, if they embraced by a Juunishi member of the opposite gender (including the cat and the god), they do not transform. The Juunishi must stay by the god's side forever, even if it means being reborn many, many times. This also means following all of the god's orders. While a Juunishi of a single animal is alive, another child of the same animal cannot be born. However, when a Juunishi member dies, this means that a Sohma child is soon to be born to this particular animal's curse. The cat follows the exact same rules of which the Juunishi follow, except its curse is a bit more dark. He must wear Juzu beads, a bracelet with round red and white beads made of the bones of great and powerful priests and dyed with blood. When the beads are removed, the cat transforms into a hidious monster with a foul odor, known as "the cat's true form". The god is the actual God who held the banquet in the above story. They bare whart is called "the core of the zodiac curse". They tend to get sick a lot, and they die at a young age. Often times, the god and the Juunishi/cat aren't alive at the same generation. The god especially hates the cat for some reason. breaking the curse: The curse can only be broken if a Juunishi member truly loves somebody, and has the ability to truthfully say, "I was born to love you." This means that they have found a purpose in life other than the zodiac curse. STORY SO FAR Satori is making everyone gather at the Sohma family house for a party. Shes in a bad mood so people want to not make her mad. Neji is on his way to the house thanks to the work of several of the zodiac members. Rei has been punished and is now in the closet. No romantic interests present so far. ^^ |

ANNOUNCEMENTS
To: all Sohma zodiac members From: Satori Sohma Welcome to another new year. It is now the year of the rat. Every zodiac member must meet at the Sohma family house. The rat is to prepare a dance for all there brothers and sisters of the zodiac. All zodiac members must come to the celebration including the cat. The cat must sit it out when the others attend the feast. The cat will have to stay outside and wait until we do our zodiac celebration as he was to lazy to attend the orignial feast. If you do not attend my feast then you will be punished severly. You had better show up. I have warned you. It will take place in exactly two days. Your leader Satori <3 |
Sigoru sat down at the gates of the house. THe other house members would be arriving to join in the new years feast. She hoped that everyone would have fun and there would be no fights. She knew that Satori hated fights. She really hoped her favorite the cat would also be here. She had not seen him since they were little kids and had missed him very much. He tended to skip the new years feasts.
She walked in a circle wondering when they would start to arrive. She was happy. Her zodiac sign was a rabbit. She loved it. She thought rabbits were the best minus the cat. The cat was and would always be her favorite. |
Seventeen-year-old Leiko Sohma found an abandoned area of the estate. Being the year of the rat she knew she would have to do the dance at the New Year's Celebration. She hope she wouldn't disappoint. Leiko had practiced diligently for at least half the year. Secretly, she hoped that Keeno would be impressed. The rat did have quite a thing for the dragon... though no one really knew. They hardly spoke since she got so nervous around him. Once she finished her practice she decided to see who else was around.
After walking around for a bit she found the rabbit, Sigoru. Leiko had gotten along well with the rabbit being they were both pretty much raised at the estate. "Hello, Sigoru," she said quietly as she approached her friend. "Waiting for everyone to show up?" Leiko asked him quietly. She would practice her dance again later, and would be totally prepared to dance. |
Rei padded softly through the main house, avoiding the rooms where Satori was sure to be in. She didn't particularly like the "god" of the zodiac, but she had no choice. Or, at least, that's what everybody around her kept saying. She noticed a familiar bob of hair outside and let a small sigh escape her lips, the rabbit was always better than nothing, seeing as the others were yet to arrive.
She moved quickly towards the front door of the compound and slipped her shoes on before stepping outside, relishing in the cool wind that blew across her face, causing her bangs to sway a bit. The overlarge black hoodie she wore had been left unzipped and showed off the form-fitting clothes she wore, not that she cared much. She tipped the hat adorning her head back a bit to see where she was going and directed her steps toward the front gates, briefly she wondered who was going to show up, though in her heart she knew they would all come, they had to, as was written in the rules...all of them...except maybe the cat. He had managed to skip out on the last few celebrations, Rei wondered how he had done that...she'd have to ask him next time she saw him. |
Jia Huo emerged from the field where she had been after finishing her work at the shrine. She made her way taking note of how empty the place felt and looked. The others would come soon though and the place would be alive again soon enough she knew. She closed her eyes as she made her way to one of the lesser houses to wait. She open her eyes as she heard the others at the gate. She turned and looked and noted who was there. Her eyes fell on the rat. She wandered what dance she had in store for them. She looked at the others as she felt her spirits fall. She didn't see the dog or tiger there yet. Jia walked to the gate and stud there. She could wait there for the dog and tiger, that way she could greet them.
|
Yukina got out of her car and looked up at the gate that surrounded the giant Sohma house. She wasn't sure if she should have arrived in animal form since she had never gotten together with the other animals. She sighed, made sure her hair was tightened, then made sure her kimono was tightened then made her way up the hill wondering if Jia would be here, since she was the only other Sohma she knew.

Negi, sitting at one of the outside tables of his tea house, took a long drag from his kiseru and read over the recently arrived letter one last time before balling it up and deftly tossing it into the waste bin.
"What an absolute pain" he muttered out loud to himself. He began wondering if there was a way to skip this year's feast as well as the last two since he'd been forced to the mainland. Realizing that he was all out of excuses this time, he wondered if maybe it wouldn't be as bad as he expected it to be. He knew Sigoru would be there. She's nice enough but he finds it a bit unnerving, the way she stares after him sometimes. |
Haruka was wandering aimlessly. She had been on her way home from school, but now she wasn't sure where she was. Her stomach informed her that it had been too long since lunch. She blew a bubble with her ever present gum as she walked. The New Year's feast was coming up in a couple of days and she idly wondered if anyone would come looking for her before then or if she might get lucky and find some familiar landmarks.
Blinking slowly around, she was surprised to find herself on a street she knew, just a few businesses down from a familiar tea house. Even more lucky was the sight of the owner of the tea house, sitting at an outside table. Haruka liked the tea house. She liked the cat too, though admitting that was taboo. He was a nice guy for a monster and it really wasn't his fault he was cursed. 'Plus, he is absolutely gorgeous.' She thought with a blush. She frowned, 'I'm not supposed to speak to him but I do need directions home....or an escort. Isn't he supposed to go too? Oh forget it, what Satori doesn't know is none of her darn business anyway' Taking a deep breath to calm her anger at the unfair way the cat got treated, the quiet girl meandered over to his table. "Hi. Negi-san." She said slowly, chewing her gum as she waited for him to acknowledge her. |
Negi had been as lost in thought as Haruka had been in body and her chipper greeting caught him unawares. "Hello there yourself, Haru-chan. Come inside and I'll prepare a snack. Where are you trying to get to this time?" He smiled and gave a slight bow as he slid open the shoji to allow her admittance to his tea house.
|
Haruka blushed and lowered her head to let her hair hide her face as she brushed past him into the cozy shop. This wasn't the first time she had wandered into the cat's tea house. Somehow her feet seemed to find it more consistently than any destination she actually tried to get to. It had taken three visits before she got up the nerve to talk to the cat but since then they had chatted periodically. She wasn't sure when he had started calling her Haru-chan, but she liked it.
"Home I guess..." She hesitated. "I have to be back for the feast at least. I have a bit of time to get there." She shrugged, her usual laid back personality making itself known. The shrug caused her hair to fall back from her face, giving Negi a clear view of her scarred features. An angry red line crossed from above one eye to the opposite cheek and several smaller scars adorned her face as well. A particularly nasty one ran down beside her left eye. That blow had nearly taken the eye with it. She liked Negi because he never looked at her like her scars made her a freak. 'I guess turning into a monster makes you redefine freak.' She mused. She hadn't told the cat where her scars came from. Putting off the painful conversation for as long as possible seemed like a good idea to the shy cow but she would tell him if he asked. |
"You are aware that the feast isn't for another two days and that we're not more than two miles from the Sohma compound, correct?" He threw his question over his shoulder as he prepared them a light snack of tempura battered vegetables and shrimp. The glint of amusement in his eyes was unmistakable. He often wondered how Haruka managed to get anywhere at all. "If you're in a hurry to get there I can take you after we eat. I'm sure they'd love to have a RSVP from me for the feast anyway."
Uhg! the thought didn't please Negi at all! |
Haruka blinked slowly at Negi, "I don't want to be any trouble." She said politely, "If you can just point me in the right direction." She frowned doubtfully, "Two days should be enough time to get myself there, if I hurry." She mumbled, half hoping he would insist on seeing her home anyway.
She knew he was amused by her constant struggle to stay on task long enough to get where she intended to go, rather than wherever her subconscious decided to steer her, and she didn't really mind. He wasn't mean about it at least, and he didn't get exasperated at her like some of the other juujishi had in the past. Her mouth watered at the sight of the food he was preparing. How long had it been since she ate? 'Did I forget my lunch again?' She honestly couldn't remember. She spat her gum into an empty wrapper she had in her pocket. "So are you going to show up this year, Negi-san?" She asked curiously. She rather hoped he would. There had been such an uproar over his absence the last two years. Though she didn't blame him for not wanting to come, being ordered to attend a feast where you aren't actually allowed to enjoy yourself, interact with the other guests, or even eat was pretty unfair. |
He brought a platter over with the offered food and placed two plates on the table where Haruka sat as well. He unsheathed and split his hashi and declared,"Itadakimasu!" He poured some of his special house blend tea for them both then and said, "I think I'm out of excuses this year, unfortunately. So I may as well make sure you get there on time." His smile was genuine but it never reached his eyes. He knew that if it were not for the Sohma and all their curses and crazy rules that his parents would have been happily married and he wouldn't have to be included in a family just to be shunned and excluded from everything they do. What fault did he have? Why should he be made to suffer?
|
Haruka smiled shyly. "Oh...alright then." She silently wished she knew of some way he could get out of the party but she wasn't the devious sort and nothing popped into her head. She took her own chopsticks and broke them apart, "Itadakimasu." She said as she loaded her plate with food. She inhaled a few bites of the crispy fried vegetables before she paused for breath. "This is really good. I wish I could cook like you, Negi-san." She had been kicked out of her home economics class after she nearly burnt down the school while making onigiri.
|
"You know Haru-chan, I've been meaning to hire an extra hand to help me in the evenings since business has started picking up. If you're interested and think you could make it reasonably on time; teaching you to cook would be part of the job. What do you say?" He stuffed a zucchini in his mouth and waited for her reply.
|
Haruka looked at him with wide eyes as she thought the offer over quickly, 'I'll have to keep it a secret from Satori, but nobody pays much attention to where I am after school anyway, so she shouldn't notice anything. I could use some extra spending money....and learning to cook something that doesn't taste like charcoal would be nice. As for being on time, this seems to be the only place I can semi-reliably find, so I think I can manage.' She smiled as another thought struck her. 'Negi-san must actually like having me around. I thought he was just being polite.'
She chewed up her food with unusual haste and swallowed it with a gulp of tea. "One question." She asked seriously, "Is your fire insurance up to date on this place?" |
Negi nearly choked in his attempt not to splatter Haruka with the contents of his mouth. He quickly washed his food down with some tea. "Well, Haruka you can start after the feast is over. Try to be here around 5pm on the weekdays and we'll discuss any weekend hours if they come up. As for now, let's finish up and I'll close early so we can get you to the compound. The shop's been dead today anyway." He stood and cleared the table then closed the shop and prepared for their two mile long trek to the compound.
|
Haruka hurriedly finished her food and tea and helped Negi close up the shop. "Are you sure you want to hire me?" She asked cautiously, not wanting him to rescind the offer but curious as to why he was offering at all, "I mean, there are a lot of other people to choose from that are probably less troublesome." 'and have prettier faces to bring in more customers.' she thought sadly, shaking her hair back into her face as they left the shop and headed for the Sohma main house.
|
Sigoru smiled at Lieko.
"Hello Lieko. No one will show up and this is boring me. I am about to go check on Satori. She was not feeling very well last I saw of her and I need to make sure she is ok. Would you like to come?" Sigoru was always hopping around like a little bunny rabbit. She was always happy and excited. She just loved to greet all the Sohmas with hugs. She loved hugs and only the other Sohmas could give them to her. Satori never hugged anyone. In fact last she checked Satori spent her time torturing others. She wasent sure if that was a good thing or not. |
