Who reads rps?

As the title says, I'm curious about just who all lurks in and reads rps. And if you do, do you just read or are you also an rper? I just became curious because I know some people have said they've read some of mine and I've read bits of other people's though I've never stuck to that.

ChoShadowMaster 12-15-2012 07:11 AM

ME! I love reading other people's RP's! (I do also RP myself.) It's just like reading a story just a bit different, and it can give me ideas for my own RP's ^_^

Kat Dakuu 12-15-2012 06:22 PM

oh yeah, that's a good idea to get your ideas from reading other people's rps. I never thought of it quite that way.

ChoShadowMaster 12-16-2012 10:07 PM

Yeah, I'll read through some RP's and think how cool and think how I can twist something like that into my own!

Kat Dakuu 12-17-2012 03:36 AM

I think that's a really good idea. I usually read an rp if I think it's a good idea, but isn't something I would write myself. especially with fandoms which I love to read and never write.

ChoShadowMaster 12-17-2012 10:42 AM

Oh yeah I know what you mean! I'm like, ooOOoo that's good! I could never write like that! lol I just don't get how people can come up with all these crazy, cool RP's!? I'm not that creative lol XD

Kat Dakuu 12-17-2012 06:32 PM

sometimes I'm just like...I would feel awkward writing that. but I don't feel that way reading it. gosh, now I really feel like reading rps again.

ChoShadowMaster 12-18-2012 08:12 AM

Yeah! They make it seem so easy O_o Lol you should, get back in there and read some ;)

Kat Dakuu 12-18-2012 08:34 AM

It's just, I haven't read in so long. not fanfics or rps. I get so burned out because of my school reading load. maybe over winter break I can get back into it some. I have a couple stories bookmarked that I've been wanting to read.

Iris The Virus 12-18-2012 09:44 AM

That was one of my main pass times on here a couple years back. I'd respond to my own rps and then go read through interesting rps other people had. Mostly to pass time because I'm such a sucker for a good story. And it helped to scout out other players that were strong writers or really creative/productive. Mainly though, it was about reading the stories..... [XP]

Kat Dakuu 12-18-2012 08:36 PM

haha. that's the way to do it, Iris!

NekoLen 12-31-2012 10:09 AM

I must admit, even though I have only been on here for a little while, I have read other's rps occasionally. Mainly just to scope out what kind of rper they are, or to check out what my rp partner is up to with other rpers. (I'm such a stalker O_O) I think I'd be weirded out if someone told me they had read mine O_O But I suppose it would be a good way to get some ideas for your own rps or for some research like I do :D

VeraDark 06-12-2014 08:57 AM

If it's a private or one-on-one RP, I try to leave it alone, because lurking around those makes me feel dirty. If it's an open RP, I'll sometimes latch on like a soap opera fan until the thread dies, or if it's the sort of thing I can get into I'll start playing in it.

I used to read every dead RP thread on forums too, pages and pages of them, because the more material you encounter and experience, the more experience you'll have to draw from in making up your own stories, plot lines and characters.

That, and some of them are just really fun to read. I've read some awesome stories in old RP threads. I like too how you can see someone's (or even your own) RP skills go from crap to godly over the course of several RPs. It's like watching their inner storyteller grow up and evolve, right in front of you.

PrincessKasumi 06-15-2014 10:24 PM

Sometimes I do when I think it might be really interesting

Kat Dakuu 06-20-2014 01:44 AM

Why would you feel dirty reading a private rp, vera? I've never heard that before. I never figured there was any different feel to reading public or private.
But I definitely know what you mean by watching a writer get better. Lately I've been reading over some of my old stuff and it's just amazing. I hate to read dead rps though, from me or others. It makes me sad to see a story that leaves me unsatisfied.

Have you found interesting things that way, kas?

IndigoKitsune 07-01-2014 03:17 PM

I look some times, but for the most part I don't read them.

Penella Goldeater 07-03-2014 03:13 PM

I do. I read them. Private RP threads too. I'm terrible, sure, but not exactly sorry. It's a public forum, with a private messaging system. You post out in the great big world and I might just read it. Please don't hate me.

Kat Dakuu 07-03-2014 06:20 PM

Who would hate you? :O I don't think of it as something totally private from other peoples eyes. Lately I've been going through and reading a lot.

Penella Goldeater 07-03-2014 07:29 PM

I don't know just felt like a creeper confession. Adding to that, not even sorry?

Kat Dakuu 07-03-2014 07:37 PM

I mean...the first time someone told me they read my rps I was surprised and weirded out because I never thought about people complimenting something like that. I always thought that no matter how private your thread was (rp or otherwise) there was always at least a mod lurking in there. Always tried to imagine what they were thinking.

Alexander J Luthor 07-17-2014 06:20 AM

I lurk occasionally. Back on Gaia my subscribed section is a graveyard of dead plays I don't want to forget because I always thought it would be fun to edit them into an actual story... I wanna go look at that now.

Kat Dakuu 07-17-2014 03:33 PM

A graveyard of your own dead stories? That's what I have here.

Alexander J Luthor 07-17-2014 04:07 PM

Some died because of me (ridiculously long ad lits) others died because because apparently keeping a plot alive is too hard.

Penella Goldeater 07-17-2014 04:07 PM

Repackage those old stories with sprinkles, baby. What's old is new again and has sprinkles on top.

Alexander J Luthor 07-17-2014 04:09 PM

Crap! That's what I was going to to last night, go look at them, but I got distracted by zOMG.
