Mystika - Revival of the Elementals
Mystika - Revival of the Elementals http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1..._Ice_Wulf1.jpg For thousands of years humans, the elemental spirits and other creatures of Mystika lived together in harmony. Five hundred years ago a corrupt human king rose to the throne and it ended the peace within this world. The king hated the elemental spirits and other creatures of Mystika. He ordered that they be destroyed along with anyone connected to or even just seen talking to one of the elemental spirits or non-humans. His descendant still rules over the lands and is just as evil as his ancestor. The elemental spirits dwindle in numbers and were forced to take refuge by bonding with animals so they could move throughout the world without drawing too much attention. These elemental animals would then continue their jobs as protectors of balance and order and try to find their destined partners. The non-humans have also been forced into hiding and finding ways to blend in. Today the stories of elemental spirits and non-humans seem to be nothing more than a legend or a myth. The only ones that have actually seen them are the elemental’s partner, the secret hunters that have been sent out to eliminate them from the world and a few lucky or unlucky humans. Will the elemental spirits and their partners be able to survive and return peace back to Mystika or will they be exterminated by the king’s ruthless hunters? |
The World of Mystika The world is divided into five kingdoms. As in ancient times four of which is represented by one of the four main elements; earth, fire, water and wind. The fifth kingdom is within the center of the others. Herno is the central kingdom of Mystika and where the royal palace is located. It's land is diverise with rolling hills, plains, forests, valleys and mountain ranges. To the north of the Herno the kingdom of Aceama can be found. It's land is mountainous and half of it is covered in snow and ice for three-fours of the year. The capital of Aceama is Haukea located in the Lumi Valley. The kingdom of Maris lies within the west. In the East is where the kingdom of Meri can be found. Tasnim is the southern kingdom. More to be added. (this will help to give a better idea of the kingdoms World of Mystika) |

Lydia slowly toyed with a stray lock of her hair, staring into the distance thoughtfully. A scroll lay open before her, and a few tomes were scattered about the grass. She'd brought a wooden stand with her to keep the scroll from touching the ground. To many, this might have seemed excessive. If one was going to study, why not do it within the safety of one's home? Home was a safer place for books and papers, after all. The topic, however, was not.
"So you can channel electricity. Or, you could." Lydia's expression became more confused. "Why can't you now?" A disgusted sigh came from the direction of the nearest outcropping of rock. While Lydia sat in a small bowl-like area of grass and flowers, her "companion" lounged on the rocky surface not far from her. A pair of bronze eyes glared spitefully down at the girl. "Do you ever listen?" A creature with skin nearly as grey as the stone he sat on continued to speak, his voice dripping with disgust. "Metal channels energy, girl. The reason I can't is because of this." Malik Shiv, a metal elemental, tapped the golden mark over his chest. "I've told you countless times that the stormling left something there." "Which makes it painful when energy goes through you?" Lydia didn't seem phased by the blunt rudeness with which the elemental spoke to her. All bark, no bite. Or, so far. "Obviously." Malik's answer was venomous, and he pointedly turned his gaze elsewhere. The silver-haired male didn't seem fond of answering the girl's questions, and he never had been. Still, it was nice to try and get to know one's partner ... especially if it was a mutual relationship. It wasn't like Lydia could study about this bond between elementals and their partners. It was forbidden. Asking the wrong questions could get her killed, no matter how closely she worked with the king or his closest members. "So you want to find a way to get that shard out of you, then." Lydia made another mark on the scroll before her, glancing up at Malik curiously. "Of all the dim-witted, slow-thinking, foolish daughters of man that I could have been bonded to," Malik stepped from the stone, landing a few feet from where Lydia sat, "you had to come along." His gaze was threatening as he approached. Lydia blinked slowly, keeping her mask of serenity on her features despite her rising heartbeat. She wasn't immune to his threats. Who knew what would happen if he actually attacked her. "I saved your life, Mal." "Malik." "The least you can do is answer a few questions, Malik. I can't speak to anyone but you about this. You might as well let me know what I've gotten into." Lydia's eyes were so similar to his - the only difference was the slight bit of brown in her own. At least she was still human. Malik scoffed loudly, and turned his back on the woman. At that moment, his attention shot toward a distant point. In the blink of an eye, he transformed into a dark wolf, bronze eyes still locked on something in the distance. Without a word of explanation to his human companion, the elemental huffed a breath and loped forward, racing down the hill and away from Lydia. "Mal!" Lydia set her wooden tray aside, careful to avoid spilling the ink. She capped the inkwell, and stood. By the time she was on her feet, Malik was too far from her. There was no catching him. "For being as old as you claim, you certainly act like a spoiled child," the noble-woman lifted her skirt and started down the hill quickly. She'd catch up to him. Eventually. - Malik ran onward, his senses screaming out that there was something interesting in the area. Honestly, anything out of the ordinary would be nice. It had been weeks since his last fight. That was far too long for the likes of him. The grey wolf slowed upon approaching another figure. Keeping hidden for the time being, Malik let his bronze eyes train on the figure before him. Who were they? What was it? Scenting the air, the metal elemental tried to pick up on the sense he felt - was it another elemental? Perhaps his senses were just ... bored, and making things up to try and entertain him. |
The crisp morning air was revitalizing for the emerald green eyed female as she scrubbed her dark brown hair clean. She loved the feel of the water, even the smell of the wild flowers that surround the lake helped to soothe her. It was perfect, her favorite time of the year. The time when the earth is revitalize and awakens. She gave a yawn before she dipped below the water's surface, greatly appreciating the fact that she did not have to hibernate anymore. She giggled to herself as she started to float on the surface of the water, closing her eyes as she listened to the birds calling each other and several other animals. Gaia, heaved a heavy sigh, the morning was so peaceful and she didn't have to have a worry in the world. After a few more minutes of swimming, and once she was done cleaning up, she climbed out and began to dry off. Being extra special care to the burn mark on her chest, for it still burned if she was not careful with it. Though she was completely unaware of the male skulking in the bushes as she wrapped a towel around herself, waving a hand to create a nice soft bed of clovers to lay down upon it so that the sun could dry her off a bit more.

Malik reached his destination, his senses strung on edge. He could nearly taste something. That something had to have been another elemental. The scarred wolf lifted its head, an ear swiveling back to where he knew Lydia to be. She'd take many minutes to catch up to him ... if she found him. Undoubtedly, she would. Their bond would alert her to where he was. Frustrating, really, to never have time away from the precious little whelp.
Bronze eyes moved over the clearing watchfully. The water moved then, and Malik's gaze locked on the creature in the water below. Female? Certainly. Human? No. Elemental. The wolf bristled, fighting back his urge to growl. His desire to fight was strong, as though he were going through withdrawals. Honestly, that's exactly what it was. It had been far too long since his last battle, and Malik was restless. The elemental moved from the water, her delicate form shimmering in the mid-morning sun. Malik huffed an impatient breath. Earth. It was an earth elemental. As of yet, he was largely unimpressed with the peace-loving, tree-hugging nature fiends. Granted, he'd only seen a few throughout his existence, but Malik was quick to judge and difficult to sway. He stayed where he was in the sidelines of the clearing for a while before slowly stepping down into the grass. The wolf kept his eyes on Gaia until he was nearly standing above her. Malik's wolf form was larger than that of the common wolf - his gaze was far more intelligent. If he could sense the elemental's presence, then perhaps she could sense his. For once, he felt an equal spread of curiosity and eagerness to fight. She looked so peaceful, this creature. How could she be so carefree in a world like this? She smelled of ... well, nature. Flowers, and a light wood being warmed by the morning sun. Malik's scarred nose wrinkled and he sneezed to break the silence. Perhaps it's better if I return to Lydia. I might get more fight out of her than ... this. |
A slight breeze blew as Akira napped in the shadow of a large tree. She had been up all night escaping a couple of guards. She could have easily killed them, but they were just acting on orders. Not to mention, she wanted a challenge. Blood shouldn't be spilt so easily. Where was the thrill in that?
Akira stirred from her slumber. There was something else out there, a presence. It couldn't be the guards. She had ditched them awhile back. A hunter maybe or just a deer. This forest was full of them and many other creatures. She jumped up and readied her bow and arrow. She was either going to have to defend her life or kill lunch. She was hoping for the latter. ~~~ Setsutarou stared at the ceiling of the small cabin he had be residing in for the past few months. He had no leads of where his sister was or any of the other elementals and their partners. Rumors were his only source, but they turned up to be just that. He spent most of his days asking the townspeople if they've seen or heard anything. The days seemed to drag on. With a sigh, Setsu got up, grabbed his things, and walked to the front door. He knew today would be different. It had to be. He flung the door wide open and walked out into the sun. Nothing and no one was going to stop him. He'd find his sister and help the others. He'd be there when the King lost this endless war. |
hair for Katarina
caden’s clothes katarinas clothes A squeal of laughter echoed through the forest, getting louder until you could see the running form of a woman. She barrelled around a tree dodging a snowball as she went. “You’re aim is seriously lacking Caden!” She yelled out as she shot her own at the man chasing her. It sailed straight and smacked Caden in the face. “That’s it! You’re mine Katarina!” He roared out and lunged forward. Squealing Katarina spun away from her friend and sprinted towards the river. Her hand shot out and two stream’s of ice covered the water. Launching herself in the air Katarina sailed out onto the river, landing on one of the patches of ice. It moved beneath her feet and she started gliding down the river. Chuckling Caden followed suit. As the ice elementals partner he controlled ice as well, though he couldn’t create it. Landing on his own path he shot after his friend. Katarian spun around, going backwards. Grinning wickedly she threw more snowballs. Catching one he quickly threw it back, hitting her in the shoulder. The elemental spun back around and put on a burst of speed as Caden launched an entire attack of snowballs on her. Cursing with laughter Katarian dodged and weaved, getting hit a few times. A few feet up the river split off to a waterfall. Letting out a hoot of laughter she directed herself towards it. “Later sucker!” She launched herself off the waterfall. Her hands raised and a thick stream of ice shot out from them, creating a slide of ice. Katarina’s feet connected and she flew down the ice, knowing that Caden would be close behind her. Sure enough when she looked back he was quickly gaining on her. Seeing a bank about a football field away from the waterfall she aimed for that. As she got closer the ice elemental noticed a few forms. A girl laying in the grass and a very large wolf standing over her. Katarina tensed, she could sense that they were both elementals. She made a signal to Caden, telling him to be on the lookout and that the game was over. Both of them came to a sliding stop at the bank. Each rested a hand on their swords as they stepped forward. Katarina’s eyes rested on the wolf. |
Gaia could sense that there were others around her, fellow elementals. It was rare to feel this many in one place, heck it was rare to even feel one. She didn't put much thought into it for the fact that they could have been a mile off and she would never tell. Her sense of sensing distance between herself and others of her kind was rather dull. Maybe that was because of the fact that it had been years since she had sensed or interacted with a fellow Elemental.
Her emerald green eyes shot open at having been sneezed upon, she was no staring face to face with an abnormally large wolf. She didn't think as she quickly flicked her hand, causing thorn vines to shot from the ground between her and Malik. She quickly moved away and took a defensive stance. After all the last time she had interacted with one of her own, she ended up with burned paw mark in the center of her chest, which was clearly visible. She didn't say anything as she watched the male, only to soon have her attention drawn towards the sound of two others yelling and calling to each other. She looked between the two on the bank and the wolf, one of them clearly being an ice elemental and the wolf, she couldn't tell what he was yet but she had a feeling that she knew. She also knew that having so many elementals in one place was a bad thing. Oh how she wished that Ryota was there with her, but she knew the male was still sleeping, safe and sound in his hole in the ground with no plans to wake up until the afternoon. She continued to slowly back up, fully aware of her surroundings, ready to change shapes and flee. |
A heavy mist lay across the forest floor as the first rays of morning light found their way through the spring foliage. The rustling of leaves is what caught the attention of the hooded figure that crouched beside the nearby stream. Azure eyes scanned the surrounding area from beneath the hood. Taking slow controlled breaths the woman listened closely. It was faint, but she could hear the light sound of paws treading across the forest floor. Those paws were all too familiar. It seemed that their training would begin early this morning. Almost silently she moved, removing her cloak and leaving it behind.
There was a smirk on the woman’s pale red lips as she circled where the sounds of movement came from. Roshan spotted the over-sized white lion just as she suspected, he was planning to sneak up on her while she washed at the stream. After a few silent moments passed she made her move. Gotcha. Stealthily she rushed forward drawing her throwing knives. Taking aim she threw them with accuracy at the lion who anticipated her attack. The lion dodged to the side, his form shifting into the form of a man as he did so. Not all of the knives missed their intended target; one left a large gash in his right leg causing him to roar. Whirling around he growled at her. Ignoring his bleeding leg he lunged at Roshan with a ball of fire within his hand. Cináed was grinning as he attacked the woman. Cursing under her breath Roshan tucked and rolled as she landed. Her reaction time was a little slow as her opponent had already moved to counter. With a hiss she pushed off awkwardly, twisting her ankle, to dodge the coming attack. She barely escaped getting burned by the blue flame within Cináed’s hand. The two continued on, both drawing their swords. As they fought the sound of metal on metal rang through the forest. Little did the pair know that there were others within the forest only a mile or two away. |
The sun was rising, and Ovacinprilcia slunk low on the ground towards the cracked earth where it liked to hide from the light. It was still weak. The Darkness was still weak. All night, the glow of lanterns of light bulbs pervaded through forests and cities alike. Even the blinking lights of the fireflies had seemed to mock it. As the morning dew began to evaporate, Ovacinprilcia, likewise, began to disappear from view.
It silently moved deep into the earth to wait patiently for sunset. Ovacinprilcia always liked to watch the other elementals from its hiding place. Wherever a tree blocked the sunlight from reaching the ground, or a shadow lay beside a stone, Ovacinprilcia could find temporary invincibility. |
One presence turned into several. They didn't seem like docile, woodland creatures that could serve as a nice lunch. Whatever they may be, there was too many for Akira to fight. The daylight was not suitable. Her powers were nearly useless, and Ovacinprilcia wouldn't be of much help either. She lowered her weapon and grabbed her bag. "Let's go look for a nice, dark cave. What do you say, Ovacinprilcia?" She didn't wait for a reply. When the night and the shadows are your friends, what could he possibly complain about?
~~~ Setsutarou drew his katana. There were others out there. Stealthily, he slinked from tree to tree getting closer to whatever was making him so uneasy. He crouched down behind some bushes near a lake. On the bank, stood two others with blades drawn. Nearby was a girl and wolf. It appeared as if the two were in the middle of a fight. A wall of vines stood between. Setsu had no doubt in his mind. They were both elementals. He made his way closer to them while keeping an eye on the others. |
Malik bristled, jerking his muzzle back when the vines shot up before him. With a low growl, his ears flattened. The Earth elemental was defensive, frightened. Part of him wanted to snap at her just to see her run. Instead, the Metal elemental tilted his head and regarded the girl curiously for a moment, as though he were trying to figure out whether he wanted to bite her or let her continue backing away.
His nose slowly moved over the thorny vines, and Malik scented them lightly. His bronze gaze never left Gaia. She was so uneasy - so scared! Honestly, Malik was drawn to it. The wolf's ears slowly shifted, focusing on the pair that approached. They were loud, rowdy ... and full of ice and snow. His eyes widened as they came into view along the bank. They were different. Ice. One of them was an Ice elemental. How precious was this? Not just two elementals, but three? All in one place? Malik's metallic gaze grew challenging, and he bristled the moment the icy pair touched ground. His eyes flickered from Gaia to Caden, then skipped over the boy and to Katarina. There his gaze lingered. Huffing a quiet breath, the wolf felt his features contorting in a snarl. An elemental would defend her chosen - her bond-mate. How well could an Ice creature defend theirs? How well could she defend a hapless Earthling who happened to be in the way? Malik's feral growl grew louder, and he began to stalk his way around the thorns as best he could. When they were thin enough, he considered just walking through them - what would thorns do to metal? The wolf paced again, his gaze too intelligent to be a mere beast - a wolf would have run off in fear. While Setsutarou remained unnoticed, Malik's attention returned to Gaia. The large canine tensed, and eyed the weakest points of the wall ... and leaped. His form was heavy enough to break through parts of the vines, and while they scratched at him, they didn't seem to have much of a pull. Metal glinted about him briefly, fading the moment he landed before Gaia. He sounded far heavier than he should have been. With a snap of his jaws, he "stomped" the ground before her with two paws as though about to pounce at her. In reality, he merely wanted her reaction - her fear. There was a strange kind of taunting demeanor about Malik, and an obvious enjoyment in the tension that filled the clearing. |
Gone was the rowdy and playful nature of the two of them. The smile left Katarina’s face, leaving an icy mask in it’s place. She didn’t do it often but she could play the Ice Queen quite well. Her glowing silver eyes stalked the wolf like a cat would stalk it’s prey before pouncing. It was fitting since technically she was a cat, a very large cat. But now wasn’t the time to shift.
Caden took a step forward, drawing his sword when the wolf kept staring at Katarina. He was about to take another challenging step when she touched his arm. Inclining his head Caden stepped back. Drawing the white bow she always carried behind her back she created an arrow made of ice and nocked it when the wolf growled. The whole time she had been stalking the beast with her eyes she figured out what type of elemental he was, metal. She could tell the metal elemental was strong, extremely strong. The second he leaped she drew back her bow but didn’t release the arrow. The ice elementals eyes narrowed as she studied the other elemental. In a low tone she spoke to Caden. “I don’t think he’s going to attack her. Your priority is the earth elemental.” Lowering her bow but keeping it nocked she walked forward. Every step she took ice formed under her feet, leaving shining patches in the sun behind her. Her partner followed behind keeping a close eye on the wolf. Soon the pair were upon the other elementals. Katarina kept the icy look on her face as she stopped a few mere feet away from the metal elemental. “Metal,” she said in acknowledgement. “Why don’t you let Earth go. I don’t think she wants to play with you today.” Her tone was cool, filled with ice. She didn’t want to fight today but it was in her nature to protect others. |
Mitsukai and Hikaru The sun felt good on his skin, the warmth of the light only succeeding in brightening the man's spirits. Turning his head, he caught sight of his younger companion exiting the makeshift tent they had used the night before. "Sleep well?" Mitsukai asked. Hikaru Leon, the partner to the light elemental standing before him, ran a hand through his hair. "Nnn" was the only answer he got. Mitsukai chuckled, handing him a flask of water to drink from. They were on the move, heading towards the nearest city. They would only be remaining there shortly, enough to do a bit of restocking. Remaining in one place to long was dangerous. It was similar for any elemental in this case. Hikaru took a drink, before looking up towards the sky. "Did I really sleep that long?" he asked. Mitsukai had begun packing up a bit. "You were exhausted, we moved a lot yesterday" he glanced at the younger male, who looked out into the distance. "It was good that you were able to get some rest" Mitsukai smiled warmly. Hikaru smiled, looking over to his partner. The man was nice, truly deserving of a title like the elemental of light. Kind, warm hearted, he was always looking after him. He did not pressure him most of the time, but he could step up and tell him how it was if need be. They slowly got things packed up, moving on from their camp. Hikaru did not mind walking, he was used to it by now. Being on the run because of all that had happened within the past. His home had been destroyed because of this bastard of a king who rulled over the land. Hikaru frowned, before a hand placed itself upon his shoulder. Glancing up, the look Mitsukai gave him made him give a small smile. The other was keen to his feelings, he seemed to always know how he was feeling, and if something was bothering him. He always had his back, which was something he was not used to since things happened. They had become close, working together to survive and get stronger. Mitsukai had helped Hikaru come back from a darker place. Smiling a bit more, Hikaru relaxed as they moved along. Though after a bit, Mitsukai seemed to frown and stiffin. Hikaru caught the change in body language, stiffining himself. "What is it?" he asked, for a moment his mind running through worst case senerios. Mitsukai shook his head a bit. "Nothing huge, it just..." he paused. Hikaru stopped fully, "what?" he pushed, not liking to be kept in the dark. Mitsukai's eyes off in the distance ahead of them. He could feel the shifting balance within the world around him. In the sense, that he could sense the shifts in good and evil, light and dark. This included the notion of darker feelings within the world around him. It made him quite a good judge of character for the most part. "There are others up ahead" he says, "others like us....and it seems they are not getting along to well." Hikaru looked off over the land, before back at Mitsukai. "Tension huh?" he said, before his partner was moving off ahead. He blinked a bit, before going after him "hey, Mitsu!" Mitsukai could not help himself. The darker feelings drawing him in. If there was darkness, he could not help but desire to help, to try and show the light. Not that it was always welcome, but his heart was often in the right place. Mitsukai followed his intentions, his body shifting effortlessly, second nature to him. Soon a massive white tiger moved along, instead of a man. It was not like all the elementals knew what each other looked like, and it was better to assess the situation, before jumpping into situations right? As he got closer, a darker presence made a light growl rumble in him. It was no mystery that light and darkness had a stronger bond, making up two sides of balance within the world. All things had light and darkness within them, it was as natural as nature itself. They could never miss each other, strong against one another, and yet also weak against the other. It was a tedious ebb and flow, and him being around was never to good of a sign. Darkness tended to tempt, to lead people astray. Mitsukai slowed his pace, slinking along on silent paws now. Hikaru followed behind, keeping sure to maintain sight of the white tiger before him. As he neared the others, he lowered his body towards the ground, the fur upon his belly lightly brushing the ground. One yellow, one blue eye watched the others for a moment from among the bushes. Indeed things were tense. A wolf imposing on another, while more than one seemed to threaten his life. "Mitsu..." Hikaru came up, catching himself before he fully stepped out into the scene. Though his voice would have most likely been heard. Mitsukai lifted his head, revealing his form from his spot, before lowering himself to sit on the ground. He lifted his head for a moment to look towards his partner, before out at the scene. His eyes for a moment drawn to the wolf within, the one who seemed to be the source of this problem. |
Aya and Ziarra "Aya?" The blonde girl poked her partner. "Can you feel it?" Aya yawned and stretched her arms out. "Z, no offense, but all I feel right now is tired and hungry. Golly, why do you insist on waking up at the crack of dawn?" Ziarra pouted. The two had been walking since the early hours, and Aya had been complaining the whole time. They knew it wasn't safe to stay still for long, so the two of them spent their time delivering letters between towns. It helped them keep a low profile, and not seem suspicious. Ziarra stopped in her tracks, causing Aya to as well. "Fine, fine. What is it that you are 'feeling'?" She grumbled. Ziarra crossed her arms. "There are more here." Aya raised an eyebrow. "Don't be all mysterious when I'm tired. More what?" Ziarra sighed. "Elementals! You big dummy!" She lightly punched her partner's shoulder. "You really should wake up! You're so darn lazy!" Spinning on her heel, she veered off the path into a patch of trees. Aya rubbed her shoulder and watched the girl walk off. "Ziarra! Where are you going? It could be dangerous!" Ziarra straighten up her back and continued watching without a word. Honestly, it's like reasoning with a three year old. she thought as she stomped after her. Grabbing her arm, Aya pulled Ziarra back towards the path. "I am not in the mood for your games today Z." She said with a sigh as Ziarra fussed about not listening and wanting to go look. Feeling more coherent, Aya noticed the presence of the other elementals. There had to be four or five, she wasn't sure. She hadn't ever met another elemental before. For all she knew, this feeling could have been so strong just from a single elemental. And although Ziarra may have wanted to go and greet them, Aya was more hesitant. She heard rumors of unrest even between elements. And she preferred to avoid any unnecessary trouble. |
With the woods of a small area, a figure was walking through. The figure appeared to be female as she continued walking through the woods. Her blue and white high heels crunched against the ground, the small sticks and twigs that were scattered about cracked and broke underneath her feet. Her very long dark blue hair swayed lightly behind her as she walked, her bangs shifted about a bit, covering her eyes a little as she faced the ground. Her clothes were very clean, a bright white with blue and gold accents throughout her clothes. Within her right hand, she held a sword, a long Katana. It was silverish white in the light of the morning sun. The young girl moved her hair from in front of her face as she looked around the area.
The young looking woman looked about, humming softly as she heard something in a distance, she turned her head about. The sound sounded like two swords clashing together. She slowly crept over, feeling the powering coming from the noise makers. She gasped softly once she could sense that it was an elemental...but which one? The young looked female peeked from behind the tree she stopped at and looked over towards the noise. She saw two being fighting, a male and female. She could sense it was the fire elemental, it must have been his partner. She watched closely, not really getting closer since she didn't like violence, not even if it was sparring. She was afraid of harming those around her. She closed her eyes lightly, trying to keep her power down. The young woman's name was Anubina, Anubina Gabriella Lolitas. At first, she would look like a human, but she wasn't. She was actually the Water Elemental. A being the king or queen didn't like. She never really understood why, they didn't do anything to the humans...well she didn't anyway. She had left her home where her partner was most lightly sleeping or had just woken up. Anubina sighed faintly, she wanted to go out there and talk to the two people in front her fighting. |
Malik could feel the convergence of others. His very being seemed to heat - his heart raced at the thought of multiple elementals in one place. As always, his instigation of conflict seemed to draw others in. It prided him to know that merely sneezing on a girl could cause such interesting reactions.
He grinned wolfishly as Katarina bid Caden to stay back. That, of course, was before he'd taunted Gaia so kindly. So the elemental kept her human on a leash, then? Malik's cold gaze narrowed and locked on Katarina as she approached, her partner trailing behind her. For a moment, Malik's bronze eyes filled with anger ... then amusement. The wolf's snarl quieted, and he observed the two partners silently. A few seconds later his attention returned to Gaia. He took a slow step forward, his expression taunting. As he did so, his wolf form gracefully shimmered like molten silver, becoming more human with each step. "No one asked for your input, Frost." The silver-skinned elemental finally stopped his advance, eying the weapons that Katarina and Caden bore. Malik's bronze eyes were still glowing like dim embers, and when they locked on Gaia again, he seemed to snarl. "Always trying to protect. Predictable." While his words might have seemed odd, they certainly related to the last few elementals he'd met. That, and when he could feel Lydia's presence, he knew exactly what her stance would be on this ordeal. She, too, would side against him. She would choose peace and protection over a fight any day. "Why defend the weak?" His voice was deep, and definitely belonged to him: Malik was tall, much taller than any human, and stood as broad as a door was wide. His scarred form was witness to many battles - and he wasn't one to hide it. The Metal elemental drew a slow breath, his expression growing more irritated than mocking. "Keeping her alive only ensures she will perish later without your protection." Malik kept his gaze on Gaia, still as threatening as ever. "How have you even survived, youngling?" The words were ... mocking. They were meant to be hurtful, like a cruel jab to inspire more violence. Just then, his very being seemed to tense. A slight flicker of shifting metal sent a wave over his silvered skin, and his attention seemed to be drawn elsewhere. Others. More elementals. Or ... at least one. As Hikaru's voice entered the clearing softly, Malik seemed to bristle once again. His laugh was humorless. "So many of you in one place. Is it truly so wise?" The attention they'd draw would certainly be the death of ... well, someone. Malik's bronze eyes lingered on Gaia. Mentally, he marked it as the Earth elemental who would fall first should a battle break loose. His mind began to calculate the battlefield, taking in the surrounding area and opponents. It was how his very being worked. Malik's gaze was growing threatening once again ... when suddenly there came a voice from the forest from whence he'd come. "No." The simple word seemed to have an odd effect on Malik. The Metal elemental shifted again, that same liquid impression moving over his skin. He looked beyond irritated as the human girl pulled herself from the sidelines, approaching slowly. Her hand was out toward him, as though that would help her regain control. "These people are not your enemies, Mal." Honestly, she had no idea. She was just going by how they looked ready to help the Earth elemental - Gaia was a precious thing, and looked far too striking to be evil. Or, so Lydia wanted to assume. Malik wasn't exactly known for walking around and making friends - just enemies. Immediately. "You speak as though you know everything," Malik's gaze still locked on Gaia, "omniscient one." Lydia nodded to Katarina and Caden, hoping she'd chosen the right side. Jumping between battle-ready elementals wasn't exactly intelligent. "You speak as though you won't accept the council of others. Do you know what we call those kinds of people in court, Malik? Fools. We call them stubborn fools." Malik's form seemed to go cold. His gaze slowly shifted to his partner. "Such a spirited whelp," he hissed, looking torn between wanting her dead and knowing he couldn't kill her without endangering himself. As he stood, nearly trembling with the desire to fight, Lydia addressed the Earth elemental. "You can stand. He won't harm you." Lydia's brown eyes were warm, and her smile was as convincing as she could make it under their current circumstances. "Thank you for protecting her. He isn't known for his social graces." Her gaze shifted to Katarina and Caden. Never in all her life had she seen so many elementals. She only wanted to question them. Hadn't she just been thinking she might never be able to speak to someone about this strange bond she held with Malik? Yet here was another pair! (She obviously hadn't noticed Mitsukai nor Hikaru, as she wasn't the most observant.) |
Audra had been in a tree all night, watching out for danger. Euria, her partner, was sleeping peacefully underneath her. Just like every night, there had been no danger near them. Well, except for the threat of Ovacinprilcia. Audra knew that he always works better in the dark, so she kept her eyes open for him. Otherwise, the night was pretty calm. The sun was up, and Audra went to wake Euria.
"Euria, wake up." Audra whispered to her partner. "We have to start moving." Euria moaned and turned her head. Then she slowly opened her eyes and looked at Audra. "Is it morning already?" she asked in a sleepy voice. "Yes," Audra said as she helped Euria to her feet. "We need to get going. It's not safe to stay here for very long." Euria rubbed her eyes and yawned. Then she looked at Audra and said, "Okay." They both started walking. Audra knew that there was a fight going on, and she wanted to keep her partner away from it. So Audra led Euria away from the fighting. Right now wasn't the right time to get involved in it. |
