Halloween Hotplate: Sweet and Savory Served Spooky

Tesel 10-23-2015 02:38 AM

My old pal, Jeryck here said he was interested in putting up a cooking contest for the event, and seeing as I'm pretty hands on myself *cough*at kicking butts*cough* I've decided that I could really help spice things up! At the very least, I could use my pudao for some serious slicing and dicing of all the tasty treats. *nods* Makes it easier to share after all.

Whew! Just talking about this is making me very hungry and I always train better after a good meal, so let's get to it, shall we? Please keep reading for the categories and get cooking!

Jeryck 10-23-2015 03:26 AM

My yes, we are certainly looking forward to this. We have 4 categories for you to work with, and are open to seasonal entries as much as holiday appropriate ones. Our categories are:
  • Sweets
The most ubiquitous edible this time of year. Baked goods, candy, and other saccharin treats apply here.
  • Savory
Salty, spicy, sour, all that is unsweet - A wide range of delicious dishes belong in this category.
  • Sippable
Anything drinks. Thick or thin, alcoholic or innocent, all entries for imbibing should go here.
  • Specialty
Does your dish meet special criteria? Is it vegetarian? Vegan? Gluten-Free? Kosher? Halal? Etcetera? Those have a place here.
All of these categories have their own prizes as well. They are:
  • Sweet
    5,000g + Perfect Pastries CI
  • Savory
    5,000g + Fancy a Cuppa? CI
  • Sippable
    5,000g + Bubbly Celebrations CI
  • Specialty
    5,000g + Special Delivery CI

RULES

So this being a contest and all, there are some rules of course. If you don't follow them... well, then I'll be forced to dole out some hurt... and I'll like it! After all, I've been perfecting my skills all summer!
  • The most important rule is to respect the TOS and Site Rules at all times. Or else.
  • You can enter each category no more than twice.
  • Your entries will only be accepted if:
______> your user name is written on a piece of paper and physically in your photo entry. No photoshop.
______> you use the exact entry form provided below.
    ______
  • Jeryck and I can add any rules we need to at any time.

FAQ

I feel like my entry could fit into more than one category, what do I do?
For the most part, you really should just make a decision using your best judgement. However, if your dish could fit into the specialty food category, you can submit it to that AND to one of the other categories, if it applies to one of them as well.

Can I change my entry?
We can let you do that, sure, but only until it's updated to the front.

What if my image link breaks before judging?
Than you won't be eligible to win. I'm not going to hunt you down, nor do you want me to. Also, Jeryck is just too old. HA!

Jeryck 10-25-2015 06:12 PM

Here is the form you can use to submit your entry.

Eee! I can't wait to get cooking. :)

Kay 10-29-2015 09:22 PM

Ooh! This looks like it might be fun. Might try it. I need to restock some of my baking supplies first though.

Nephila 10-29-2015 10:56 PM

Oo I have one in mind for the Savory/Specialty one. :D

Cardinal Biggles 10-30-2015 03:09 AM

I've been cooking some good things lately, but I'm finding myself tapped out. Maybe I'll get a second wind.

Nephila 10-30-2015 03:11 AM

*hands you a fire stoker to fan your creative flames*

Cardinal Biggles 10-30-2015 03:20 AM

Thank you. Some of the things I've made lately have been super appealing. It's a shame timing hasn't matched up:

Japanese Curry. Looks good, right?

Nephila 10-30-2015 03:38 AM

I LOVE CURRY. *drool puddles*

Cardinal Biggles 10-30-2015 04:05 AM

Curry is one of my favorites too. My most favorite might be.... just grilled vegetables?

Nephila 10-30-2015 04:08 AM

With just a bit of salt and oil to bring out natural nom noms. For sure.

Cardinal Biggles 10-30-2015 04:08 AM

yes! Haha I'm getting worked up just thinking about it.

Nephila 10-30-2015 04:10 AM

When I first discovered sweet potatoes and had them that way I swear I ate them for just about every snack. XD

Cardinal Biggles 10-30-2015 04:12 AM

Sweet potatoes are one of my lazy foods. Too tired to make something? Pop a sweet potato in the microwave and add butter when done. BAM. meal.

Nephila 10-30-2015 04:22 AM

Hmm I wonder if I can make one look like a pumpkin by slicing it a certain way.

Cardinal Biggles 10-30-2015 04:39 AM

The first jack o' lanterns were turnips so I bet you could!
