The first memory of 2014:

My brother and I spent the entire afternoon hiking, roughly 5.7 miles in total. Even when it's freezing cold outside, the reservoir really is a lovely place to be.

This is a darn good beer. Darn good.

The actual bottlecap will be saved in my RL memory jar so that I don't forget to buy some more next season.

It's below zero right now, so my poor little dog can't handle the cold when he goes outside. I've been wrapping him up in blankets afterward just so that he can warm up again.

But on the plus side, it makes him look like a Jedi!

Yoda Doggie is finally all warm and happy again, but the poor little guy will have to go outside again before bed.

That last pic...it's like he's reading what you just said there and is like,"Oh yeah? I'd like to see you try and make me!" [lol]

In the 2nd one he really does look like a Jedi. He's a cute little guy! What's his name? I'm sure you've told us before, but, yeah...[ninja]

Awww...yoda puppy is adorable!! [=3]

His name is Rebel. I call him a pup, but he's actually 9 years old at this point. The little fella can't handle the cold very well.

Hehe....it is hard to think of cute small dogs are anything but pups...[:D]

Today was lovely and sunny outside! But since it's still below freezing, I just stayed indoors and took more photos of my dog. [lol]

Strapped on my YakTrax and had a really nice ~5 mile hike through the woods today. Not a whole lot to look at, but it was fun to spend the afternoon out in the fresh (albeit freezing!) air.

Set a PR in my 5k today! I managed to run the entire time without breaks and still keep it under 31 minutes, which is wonderful. And the song that was playing on my mp3 player while I finished? "Ill Make a Man Out of You" from Mulan.

It was a good run. [cool]

First outdoor run of the year - Got in 5 miles and it wasn't even that cold. I think that it finally got up to 40 degrees today. Now all the ice and snow just needs to go away. [lol]

Cooked a pretty fancy-schmancy spinach puff pastry dinner the other night. It only tasted decent, but damn did it look pretty! [lol]

And for the past 3 weeks, I've been baby-sitting (cat sitting?) my brother's kitty. She's become my little buddy and I'll be sad to see her go. Think he'll notice if I just never give her back? [ninja]

Broke my personal record while running a 5k today - 30 minutes 5 seconds. Now I'll just be spending the rest of the year trying to shave those 5 seconds off my time. [lol]

[Update on April 10th: Didn't take as long as I thought, I just ran my 5k in 29:50!]

--> That 5k brought my total 2014 milage up to 102, so I broke the 100 mile mark! Woohoo!

And while going out to eat tonight, I ran into an old high school friend of mine. I haven't seen her in ages. She was pretty much my twin all throughout school (our names are spelled so closely, teachers would even mix us up if we sat by each other), so it was amazing to sit down and catch up for a little while.

All in all, it was a good day. [heart]

Went to a party today that included 5 dogs. (All parties should be required to have 1 dog for every 4 people, it's only fair!)

Yesterday, the weather was nice enough to go out kayaking! It was our first trip this season - For Mother's Day, my brother spent about an hour paddling around a local lake with our mom.

Hehe.... of the books you've read I've read the American Born Chinese one and the Tales of Beedle the Bard... good books!

Great choices! I liked them both too. Beedle the Bard was a quick little read, but sometimes it's fun to pick up stuff like that. I wouldn't buy the book, but it's fun to have the extra bit of Harry Potter knowledge. [lol]
