Hooray for the Season of...Flu?

Anyone else have the flu going around in their area? I've been put of work since Friday thanks to it. I really need to go to work tomorrow because of a practice I have to have with some students after school tomorrow...but my fever hasn't broken and my doctor told me that I am contagious until my fever has been gone for 24 hours without the help of medication. He even wrote me a doctors note that's good until February 20th!!! I can take off that long considering I have a field trip on Friday. OTL

Anyway, I definitely not the only one out. My school sends out an absentee report of teachers every morning...there are like 15 out today!!! And I have no idea how many students are out.

There is another school in my area that was supposed to have a ceremony on Friday that my mother was going to attend because she was a donor for the school. They called and told her it was cancelled because at least a fourth of the school population was out sick.

Anyone else battling all this?

I always associate flu with winter and cold weather...but it's been a pretty hot winter down here in FL. But we're having a bad flu season LOL

In all my years teaching, with all the sinus infections, pink eye, laryngitis, etc that I've caught...this is the first time I've caught the flu from the kids.

Our grocery store was out of flu meds when my husband went to pick some up. Had to travel to a few stores to find them lol

If you guys haven't been hit with the flu, you have locked out :D

Yeah Im guessing we have then again me and josh seem to be pretty heatlhy and avoiding illnesses but at the same time.. i catch infections in my leg a lot 'grumbles' adn that's no fun it keeps me from doing a lot of stuff. though its ALMOST healed. i hope it heals by summer cause then i can go swimming and stuff.

I had my flu or cold or sore throat or nose that runs last 2 weeks. Took just a week to recover naturally. <33
By the way, that was the first day of Chinese New Year.

Yup. Had tummy flu and a viral infection in 2017. And now I am back again in the doctors waiting room

so far we've avoided colds. which is surprising seeing as we have no heat. only theheat from the rest of the building and the little heaters we have in our rooms. i was absolutely SURE I'd end up sick this winter but so far. so good.

I think there was a few time I got fever sore throat because of overdose on chocolate. XD lol.

star2000shadow 02-13-2017 02:19 PM

are you allergic to chocolate?

xuvrette 02-13-2017 02:34 PM

no, chocolate are "heaty" stuff, taking too much would cause... fever like illness.

My boyfriend's mom was like, deathly ill with the flu for like 2 days. She couldn't eat anything, or she'd throw it up. #RIP. She's okay now. :P

I caught a minor bug last weekend, but it wasn't the flu. I think it might have been something I ate. [sweat]

You sound kind of like me - my immune system hates me :( OTL

Shadowfflur 02-13-2017 04:02 PM

D: Oh no, I hope you feel better soon. I live near Seattle and this flu season is a real bad one. I have a toddler and a weakened immune system myself, so we don't venture out to heavily populated areas often and when we do its all hand sanitizer and washing our hands at every chance. So far so good, but I've seriously considered wearing a mask like they do in Japan to further protect myself.

Speedy recovery people!
It is Valentine's day over here~

Dragonqueen09 02-14-2017 06:57 PM

Get well soon everyone. I have yet to get sick. I hardly do when winter comes.

xuvrette 02-15-2017 02:03 AM

Which kinda weather is easier to contract illness?

Maria-Minamino 02-15-2017 09:06 AM

I honestly have no idea xuvvie!

SuperZombiePotatoe 02-15-2017 09:36 AM

I'm sorry you're sick Maria [:(]

xuvrette 02-15-2017 10:58 AM

It seemed like I had a sneeze nearly everyday since last 2 weeks. lol.

SuperZombiePotatoe 02-15-2017 11:02 AM

Same. Accursed allergies >.<

Maria-Minamino 02-15-2017 11:04 AM

Aw thanks potatoeee!!

I'm on the mend finally. I ended up going to work yesterday...that killed me. So I am taking one more day before going back again tomorrow.

xuvrette 02-15-2017 12:13 PM

You should rest if you are ill. :<
I remember Mariaria... still working at school?

SuperZombiePotatoe 02-15-2017 12:21 PM

I agree. Rest is best [yes] My brother is sick as well and he's more than happy to stay home from school [XD]

xuvrette 02-15-2017 01:57 PM

I remember the times when I was small, I would love to stay at home to avoid school.
