CAMP ANAWANA

Now this is MY kind of camp. Believe it or not, I'm not Budnick, I'm not cruel and get nothing out of harming others.

I'm actually Sponge. I'm a bit small for my age which leads to the androgynous bit, and I'm a straight A, almost always top of the class except for the token Asian (sorry for not being PC there, but it's true). Good with computers, they didn't have anything but remdial "I can't use word" IT classes at my university so I became an IT intern, and not just workstudy but they hired me out over the summer, too, which was their own budget but cost/benefit, I was worth it. So everyone else is feel to 'claim' a CAMP ANAWANA character:

or just hang out. I wasn't too excited about the theme honestly. With skin this pale you know I'm not an outdoorsy type. However as soon as I asked if I was going to get 'AWFUL WAFFLED if I didn't use green... a smile spread across my countenance and I got an idea...

OMG I remember that show. I use to watch it all the time.

hummy 06-16-2012 04:10 PM

-crosses out "ANAW" from the title, and replaces it with "MARIJU"-
eUe

-runs away giggling-

lol, but the show looks pretty funny. xD
I'm guessing it was from the 80's?

hummy 06-16-2012 10:14 PM

momocita and mischief go hand in hand.

blueblackrose 06-16-2012 10:22 PM

That show is from the 90s I believe.

hummy 06-16-2012 10:33 PM

thank you.

mewmew07 06-17-2012 02:17 AM

This was my favorite show when I was a kid. I always hope that they'd put it out on DVD or that they'd put it back on tv.

hummy 06-17-2012 02:42 AM

they don't have it online or netflix?

mewmew07 06-17-2012 03:06 AM

Maybe, but I don't like to watch tv shows and movies on the computer. I like to watch it the way it's meant to be, I guess to most the old school way.

hummy 06-17-2012 03:30 AM

i can understand that.

The_Crow 06-17-2012 03:52 AM

It had two seasons, in 1991 and in 1992 (There was ONE member cast change) and the opening cast change, the hippie nature girl who things about poems got to sing about the pine trees in the second go round. On a dailymotion site there was an plea for episodes that at the beginning asked if you watched Salute Your Shorts when they ran it on GAS (Games and Sports) camp in 2003? Back in the early 90's most of us were too young to record it and if we did it was stuck on VHS. Then hehad the CLEAN version of the opening. At the end he put a plea for episodes... I cut off that part and basically except for "Did you watch it" during the first few seconds had a pristine version. I uploaded it to youtube but itwas "Blocked by viacom" and put my account in bad standing.

Now here's what I don't understand: WHY BLOCK SHIT IF YOU WON'T LET US WATCH IT ANYWHERE? IT'S NOT ON TV, nor on 'on demand' nor netflix to my knowledge yet there is a huge 'retro' movement to get it back, same for ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK now not only is the video blocked by 'my account is not in good standing' so I had to go and delete it. The only reason this copy didn't get picked up by the bots is as you can see someone is litteraly recording their TV. Worst. Quality. Ever. BUT you can at least tell what it is and it wasn't insta-blocked. I was consider cosplaying as Zeke the Plumber. Does anyone remember that episode? It's pretty creative and memorable!

*peeks in to say thank you*

The_Crow 06-17-2012 04:57 AM

momochan: Your practical joke is right in line with this thread :) It just wouldn't have gotten past the Nickelodeon TV censors in the mid to early 90's.

-Pats hummy on the head- Better be lucky it was me. If it was Budnick he would have patted you with itching powder _-_

hummy 06-17-2012 05:03 AM

i am thrilled it's you, Crow.
*shiftie eyes*
itching powder sounds.....itchie!
have a good rest of your day.

momochan 06-17-2012 05:37 AM

Crow: lmao! I'm glad~
Is it sad that when I read the title, I instantly thought about how it rhymed with marijuana?

The show seems really funny. I'm surprised that you can't watch/get it anywhere....

The_Crow 06-17-2012 08:22 AM

You can still find random little 'clips' online. In this one, Micheal, the one "normal" kid is being bullied by a kid named Thud Mackie. To make things worse he asked his grandparents to send him brownies.... doesn't seem like that bad of a thing, but the Ug the counselor is an ass and makes Micheal hold two water pails for two hours while everyone eats his brownies in front of him. Between being bullied by the kid and the counselor all the other kids pull together their various 'talents' to make a sympathy video to get his grandparents to get his parents to get him to go home... and it is done hillariously:

Looks interesting >.>"

spunky 06-17-2012 03:57 PM

Oh man. This brings tears in my eyes. I used to watch the show when I was in elementary school. Totally forgot about this.

Dottie Mae Evans 06-17-2012 05:43 PM

I barely remember the show, maybe because I was only three or four at the time. It didn't catch my attention too much, but I kind of remember watching it. I did remember Are You Afraid of the Dark and other shows. :)

I remember Nickelodeon from 1993/94 and somewhat present. I only watch Nickelodeon every now and then. It just isn't the same. :S

hummy 06-17-2012 05:56 PM

*sobs*
poor micheal and no brownies on top of it all.

spunky 06-17-2012 11:02 PM

Are You Afraid of the Dark? completely freaked me out. I thought that some of the "ghosts" were really creepy looking. *Turns on the light in the room*

BellyButton 06-18-2012 07:41 PM

Hah, I remember this theme song!

hummy 06-18-2012 08:45 PM

closets freak me out.
