Irish Rebirth - Celebrate With Me!

Hey Everyone!

So I have exciting news. But before I give you this news, I have to give some backstory. When I was a wee lass, my mom divorced my dad and ran. So I never knew him until I was in college. His wife found me and hooked us up.

Recently we were talking and I learned that through my dad, I am part Irish!

That is right! I am IRISH!!

So I feel I must take part in these festivities not just because green is my favorite color but because it is also a part of my heritage. I'm stoked and decided to make this thread in celebration. Feel free to come on in and have a large cup of foaming rootbeer with me!

Suona 03-15-2014 08:48 PM

Yay! Congrats on finding your dad, and congrats on being Irish. ;) I'd definitely count that as a plus.

I'm a quarter irish myself. My mom's half and my grandma is full. She's a funny little redheaded lady with spunk. [lol] I love my Irish roots. They're the part of my genes I treasure the most. :)

That is exciting news! Hooray for an Irish rebirth!

Tati0foxy 03-15-2014 08:50 PM

Congrats on finding your dad! I recently got back in touch with my dad as well. Celebrate we shall!

The Wandering Poet 03-15-2014 08:52 PM

I'm probably part Irish... [ninja] I'm part everything ELSE... [lol]

Tati0foxy 03-15-2014 08:54 PM

I have some Irish in me but I don't know how much or what else I have in me. lol

Suona 03-15-2014 08:55 PM

I'm mostly irish and german, and then a mix of 5 other things scrambled in there

I actually just watched a movie last night that is supposed to be taking place in Ireland. It's pretty cute. It's called Leap Year.

Rochiel Silverfire 03-15-2014 08:58 PM

Congratulations on finding your dad! My great grandmother is from Belleek, Ireland (where they make super beautiful pottery that allows light to shine through it!). I hope to visit someday. So yay for being Irish!!

Are those yours, Rochiel?

I want to visit soo bad! I hope that one day I can go.

This seems like a safer place to post while I'm multitasking.
Hey y'all. What's up?

steelmagghia 03-15-2014 09:06 PM

Rochi those are gorgeous dishes!
I'm Irish, English, and Native American (with a teensy bit of German). It's a weird mix that doesn't bode well for tolerating alcohol or diabetes. :D

Congrats! I have a dash of Irish on my dad's side of the family too, but I'm mostly English and Scottish. Just an all around British mutt, really. [lol]

Kat Dakuu 03-15-2014 09:34 PM

I'm the usual European mutt as well, but no Irish in me that I know of.

That is wonderful. It is fun to know your roots and it is always nice to be able to hear stories from family too.

I am only a bit Irish... I'm mostly German and Swedish with a touch of Irish, Welsh, Choctaw Native American, and Cherokee Native American.

Isn't it fun to have ancestors from all over?

Enjoy the holiday regardless!

steelmagghia 03-15-2014 10:50 PM

I'm so glad to hear that your dad turned out to be awesome.

Kat Dakuu 03-15-2014 10:53 PM

What a mass quote. So how is maiden today?

jupiter 03-16-2014 01:59 AM

Enjoy the holiday?

Dystopia 03-16-2014 04:29 AM

:U Are you ginger?

xuvrette 03-16-2014 06:26 AM

wow, what a touching reunion story~ *weeps*

Dystopia 03-16-2014 06:35 AM

xD;; Meave.

Iunno. If my birth parents left me, I wouldn't consider them my parents anymore. I wouldn't awnna meet them.

xuvrette 03-16-2014 06:40 AM

... my father keep telling me I am not their daughter, that he picked me up from a rubbish bin. -__-;; what joke he kept saying until now. He is hilarious.

IF! that happen... hmmm. Really depends on how I end up. If I was abandoned and end up in a very undesirable life, I would hate them, I guess. But if I am in a good life, I may have a more kind heart?

Dystopia 03-16-2014 06:48 AM

... xD That sounds like a typical silly dad joke tho.

idek. For better or for worse, if they didn't raise me, then they aren't family.

xuvrette 03-16-2014 06:53 AM

For sure, I would have the curiosity to want to know things.
I always have curiosity in things unknown.

Dystopia 03-16-2014 07:04 AM

Iunno. I suppose I understand curiosity, but I'm not sure I understand why you'd wanna meet these people who threw you away.
