❄ What is the Mene Storybook? ❄

This is a two part contest which will be carried out from December up till the Valentine's Day 2014 event.

The first part is the STORY, which will be exercising those creative writing skills,
and will be held throughout Festival of Winter Nights this year.

By the end of FoWN 2013, all the stories collected will be presented anonymously in
the second part of this contest, which is the ART, calling on those artistic abilities to illustrate the stories received. No storybook is complete without beautiful illustrations!

Once the contest is concluded, the authors, artists and all their entries will be revealed, collected and archived in a single thread. Of course, we can't forget the prizes too, which will be given out to noteworthy stories and art!

BRAINSTORM. GET CREATIVE. WRITE. DAYDREAM. WRITE SOME MORE.

You will be required to write a story within the given requirements (shown in the post below!) to be submitted for this part of the contest. [:D]

Remember, these are mandatory! If any of these requirements are not present in your story,
your entry will not be counted for the contest.

• All entries must have a 100 words minimum and 300 words maximum.
• You can send in up to two (2) entries per person.
• Remember to keep your entry PG-13!
• At least 3 or more of these elements must be present in your entry:
  
  
  1. Be set in Menewsha.
  2. At least one Menewsha NPC is present or mentioned.
     Check the Menewsha NPC Guide for the list of NPCs!
  3. Involve the Festival of Winter Nights.
  4. Involve the theme of love.
  5. A pickle.
  
  
• There is no specific method for how to write your story. Go wild! Just remember that because this is a writing contest, the writing itself is what will be judged.
• Yes, punctuation, grammar and spelling do matter for this contest. If possible, proofread your entry or have a friend do it for you before you submit it.
• Plagiarism is absolutely not allowed. Do not do it.

F.A.Q.s

Why start so early?
To give more time for you to write, of course! The creative process takes some time so I thought it'd be nice to stretch the contest over the period of a month rather than a week during the event.

When does this part of the contest end?
Right at the end of the Festival of Winter Nights event. Stay tuned for the event F.A.Q.s itself for more precise information.

How about Volume 2?
As mentioned above, Volume 2 will start after FoWN 2013 and most certainly before the Valentine's Day 2014 event.

Why will the stories be posted anonymously in part 2?
Why not? I thought it'd be nice for interested artists to see what stories inspire them for art without the potential bias of knowing who the authors are. [:D]

Can I reveal or let people know which of the entries was written by me?
Of course! That is entirely up to you.

What is the Festival of Winter Nights?
Festival of Winter Nights is an event that usually goes on about a week or so here in Menewsha, lasting till New Year's day. It's exactly like what it's called, a festival celebrating the winter season. Each year, there is usually a unique theme that follows the event.
