Epithalamion Defined as the celebration of marriage through poetry or verse, it is a heartfelt creation of the artist to explore their own elation. Here we're asking you to write us a (very) short stories inspired by 6 (very) different prompts that will be revealed to you each day of the event. Everything about these story carries a weight and extra points will be awarded to you if you're can incorporate some of the listed bonus themes into your entries. The challenge is making sure your stories make sense and a story arc all within the 150 word count you are allowed... and we will be counting!! |

f a q s Q: What does Coffee Shop AU mean? A: AU = Alternate Universe. This is where a different setting is the norm (canon). A Hogwarts AU for example would be all the NPCs are witches and wizards in the world of Harry Potter. Mr. Mayor would be Head Boy in Hufflepuff, Tesel in Gryffindor, Nalin is Herbology wiz, Jeryck teaches History of Magic, etc, etc. A Pirate AU for example would have the NPCs as pirates sailing the high seas. Q: Who/What is an NPC? A: NPC = Non-Playable Character. You can read about Mene's NPCs here. Q: I don't understand this thing about a prompt? What am I suppose to do with it? A: For your 150word entry, you must write something relating to the given prompt. It can be mentioned, shown, or general mood. For Example Prompt: Halloween. Acceptable Entries - Talking about favorite holidays. - Wearing a Halloween Costume. - Going Trick or Treating. - Carving a pumpkin. - Saying the NPC is wearing an "I Love Halloween" shirt When in doubt, mention the prompt within your entry. A keyword will make the connection definite. If you had written an entry about eating candy, you would have failed the Halloween Prompt because eating candy is not specific to Halloween alone. However, saying the NPC is eating last week's Halloween candy is an acceptable entry. |

I don't normaly try the writing contests but lets give it a go. :D
Day 1 Entry: SHOOTING STAR Word count: /150 A loud squealing was heard threw-out the mansion. The nosy maids, Arel and Jasmine listened cautiously at the door. "Oh it's beautiful" "I think you mean bootifool baebeh" The Donkeh's hiney glistened and seemed to be it's own light source. Mark's hazy eyes melted and shed a single tear. Why had he never noticed before. Why did he feel like a shooting star right now? Could it be some seafood induced delusion? Or was it love? "I...I think I need some coffee." He regained his wits. The maids went back to work just as they came out of the room. One coughed "um sir we don't have enough chairs for this upcoming event" A black cat jumped out of the shadows interrupting her. "I'll see to it tomorrow." As they arrived at the coffee house the saw a few familiar faces look their way. |
Hopefully I'm in the word count, I had two tell me I was at 147. This isn't my best work, but for the word limit, I hope is understandable. [lol]
Day 1 Entry: SHOOTING STAR Word count: /150 It was a fun night at the Menewsha shooting star party. “Eiri!” Vicky and Lucien called. “Are you having cake or pie? Vicky asked. “Cake, but my ice cream is melting.” Eiri answered. “I picked pie.“ Said Vicky. “Want to go to a table?” Eiri asked. “Sure, Eiri.” Lucien said. “We’re short on chairs.” Said Eiri. “Let’s pick another table.” Vicky Answered. “No that’s alright, I want to get some tuna anyway. Eiri smiled. Eiri noticed Yumeh trying to sneaking fish. “Here” Eiri said throwing food on the floor. “What, rain?” Eiri said shocked, being a clear night. Eiri looked on top the tent to see afrodonkey with a garden hose in his mouth. Lucien walked up. “Should we say something?” “I’m gonna tell him” Eiri answered, as she began to scold Afrodonkey. With Afrodonkey gone, everyone could finely enjoy the party, and they partied all night! |
