NaNoWriMo 2016 Prep

It is getting close to that time of year, and I'm getting excited (and a little nervous).

Is anyone else planing on participating in NaNoWriMo this year? If so, what, if anything are you doing to prepare?

I'm trying to get my characters sorted out, and outline the overarching plot line in general and the first plot arc in detail. It's hard though, because I just got the idea for this novel a few days ago, and I'm itching to start writing... I don't all ways get a good feel for who I want the characters to be until I've written at least a couple of scenes with them, so I'm thinking of writing the first plot arc out before November, which is an almost self contained set-up for the main story. I would not, of course, count anything written before November 1st toward my word count. Of the two years I made an actual committed effort, I did better the year I had an established story that I was continuing, rather then a fresh idea I was starting from scratch.

Doing intensive world building since the beginning of September.

This would be the 4th year round for my NaNo... or was it 3rd year? hmm...

I just decided to do Nano and am trying to decide what my characters are going to do.

I've actually never participated before but I'd really like to! ;o; I usually end up not having enough time to dedicate to it, between work and school and everything else.

Even without reaching the 50k words goal, cherish whatever amount you achieve.

I Compleated Nanowrimo back in 2012, But the past few years I have been overwhelmed with University deadlines This year I have lots of free time and am fully commited to Nanowrimo, looking forward to getting started, but i still have a lot of plot to try and straighten out.

Not going to dedicate myself to it like I tried last year. But I am in the process of writing a piece that I'm already at 10k words. and I started on the 16th. So I'm already pleased with what I've started. :3

I lied. I signed up for NaNo.

That... is a pretty sharp turn of event. O__O

Yeah, but after I actually sat down and planned out more of the story I realized I have at least 50k words to go. And that's on top of the 14.5k I've already done. So I figured since I'm already doing it I might as well.

wow, you have nice estimatation skills! O__O
I always underestimate my projected target. WHen I thought I could finish it in 10k, it took me 25k... x.x

I've planned out a basic outline of 14 or 15 chapters. So far each one is about 5k words and I started with 4 chapters already done. It will probably be longer than then since this current chapter was supposed to introduce my monster (that was only going to be featured in two chapters) and my characters went on a date instead.

I like how characters went off and do their things, disregarding all the 'painstaking' planning works we had done. lol.
