This is called a feast table for a reason! All the foods! [drool]
Speaking of, I had frozen strawberry mochi yesterday. Sooo gooood. [drool] |
*drools* STRAWBERRY MOCHI! <33 I want!
If I'm not lazy, I'm making dango this weekend. |
I think mochi might be an acquired taste? Or I just had a meh first go of it. I was disappointed because I wanted so much to like it. xD It was even worse than my disappointment with not liking red bean paste/azuki.
|
Eh, I know some people who like mochi and some people who are more "eh" with it. It's one of those things that I've grown up with all my life (in the form of chinese rice dumplings and other small desserts), so I'm used to it. Japanese mochi has slightly different texture and taste because they use different rice grains for theirs. [lol]
Sometimes it also depends on which and where you're having them. Different places have their own "styles" so to speak. I've had nasty red bean paste, and I've had delicious ones. I'm generally not a fan of red bean paste in general because the chinese types tend to have a grainier texture compared to the super smooth japanese azuki, both which still end up superbly sweet most of the time. I prefer desserts which less sweetness, but it's different for most of my friends. On that note, I hate Reese's. |
I'm not fond of Reece's myself. xD The peanut butter is too grainy with white sugar. I still eat them because I can be a glutton for chocolate, but I'd rather have other brands that have smoother peanut butter.
|
It's not even the texture for me, it's the numbing taste of chemicals and sugar in it. I was curious because I've seen so many people swear by it so I went looking for some (very difficult to find here, I had to look for a grocer that specifically imports foreign candy). Nope, not to my tastes. [lol]
|
I grew up on mochi too. Use to get chichi dango every girls day. Still do. owo b
I don't like peanut butter D: |
I think part of my issue might have been that I had the mochi ice cream at a convention and it was a boxed kind. I'll give it a go sometime when I'm at a place that's meant to have "good" stuff. xD Might give the red bean paste another go too. (Though... probably not. I've had it at least twice.)
I expect people recommend Reece's because they're the only major brand of peanut butter cups. I really do like their cereal, though. That might be worth trying if it's not ruinously expensive wherever you find it. (I would not recommend you special order it, though. xD; I wouldn't want to be responsible for any disappointment for going out of your way.) |
Fooood [drool]
Lexa doesn't know what Reese is.. [ninja] |
