Polymer Clay Anyone?

*Poof*
It's gone!

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 05-12-2014 08:39 AM

That's so cool. [drool] I really want to get into polymer clay crafts. Right now I'm just trying to get enough clay. [lol] I want to use Fimo Classic, but Premo is what I'm finding around here so I figure that will do until I gain more experience in the craft. 8D

How long have you been working with clay?

Kay Lynn 05-12-2014 08:33 PM

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa: Fimo's a good brand as well as Premo :) I tend to use Sculpey, Fimo, and Premo xD

And I started late 2011/Early 2012

That is a beautiful Studio Ghibli lamp. Could I see more of it? It's just so nice from what you've shown.

Wow! I love all the detail, and all the movie characters. Wonderful.

I want to work on making something for a friend for her birthday out of polymer clay. Where do you go to get your clay? I used to do some minor work - mainly making my own beads when I was younger, but it's been years since I've played around with it. Your work is beautiful!

Kay Lynn 05-14-2014 03:40 AM

Zira Angel:
Thank you ;w; It took about 10 hours spread out over 2 days ^^"

CloudDreamer:
I usually get my clay from Michael's (Mainly because it's the only craft store that's close to me). I wish I could make beads, I tried once and failed miserably ^^"
And thank you for the compliment ;w;

CloudDreamer 05-14-2014 03:44 AM

You're welcome! You deserve it!
I think we may have a Michael's close to where my parents live - I'm almost about to head home (in four days! YES!). I wasn't the best at making beads - I did that when I Was like 8 or 9 (around that age) so as long as it resembled a bead, and it worked with the wire, then it was good for me. [lol] I work better with felt, but I've found a few cutsie things that I want to make out of clay, so I need to get back into working with it again, and hopefully I can convince it to work with me (and that it goes better than whenever I decide to do crafts with paper (me and paper don't get along).)

Kay Lynn 05-14-2014 04:06 AM

I've tried working with felt since I'm okay at sewing and it flopped ^^" But I've been trying to get back in the swing of things with polymer clay xD Oh! Good luck :3 Hopefully it goes well with you :)

CloudDreamer 05-14-2014 04:18 AM

Felt seems to cooperate with me pretty well, better than most things I try. I've got boxes of felt under by bed at the moment, where they're waiting to be packed up for the move home. :)

Thanks! I hope it'll work out, if not, I'll just have to figure out something else to make - I may just turn to felt. [lol]

Polymer clay!
I would like to try some.
Was planning to make pendants for keychain and phone chain.

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 05-18-2014 09:05 AM

Wow that lamp is awesome! [eager]
Do you do anything special for them to protect from the light?

Muzzlezle~ please no ping. XD I often check around the subforums. Unless it is uber important urgent message.
If you are at any advance country with online shipping, I think it is fairly easy to get the straps.

CloudDreamer 05-20-2014 11:04 PM

I managed to get my hands on some Scupley clay. ^_^
I do still have to bake this little guy but this is what I was planning to make. ^_^

I'm just so glad that he came out cuter than I thought he would! :D
I'm baking him today as mom needed the oven for dinner last night when I made him.

Kay Lynn 05-21-2014 01:35 PM

xuvrette: I love using glow in the dark Fimo ^^" It's great for Halloween pendants

Cloud: I always fail when I try to make pandas xD

xuvrette 05-21-2014 01:41 PM

I like the sparkly ones.
I am a sparkle fan. XD
How is Fimo's special effect clay? is it hard?

CloudDreamer 05-21-2014 03:12 PM

Dragon: I was afraid I was goon to get the proportions wrong.
I found a really simple step by step guide with pics. :)

Kay Lynn 05-21-2014 04:50 PM

xuvrette: My sister's like that xD Every time we work on anything together she's the one that always like "It needs more sparkles~" xD
But no, it's generally like all the other clays....Well the sparkle ones make your hands/gloves glittery but that's about it ^^"

Cloud: I never thought about looking up a step by step xD I always just winged it
Maybeee I should xD

xuvrette 05-21-2014 05:25 PM

I had been reading up reviews on different brands of polymer clays.
Many said Fimo is harder. which is why Fimo came out with a Soft line.

You know Sculpey have this clay to make a cast model?

CloudDreamer 05-21-2014 06:36 PM

Dragon: Step by Step really helped me help it come out like it should. ^-^
