~nature Outdoors~

Outside i watch the dull lit sky,
trees sway and branches fly.
The clouds i observe go swiftly by,
looking down at mother nature they spy.
Birds heavenly through their songs,
telling of their happiness, worries and wrongs.
Flowers erupting, the early springs,
bees humming and evading flowers, they are kings.
woodlands sit in their ghostly haze,
daring ramblers to try their maze.

Animal Behaviour

Hiding in a hole lays the still rabbit,
pradator above, so this is its habbit.
Scuffling on the woodland floor is the badger,
for its set, leaves, it gathers.
Making tunnels is the black holy mole,
sometimes poking their noses out of the ground exposing its silent soul.
Running and playing is the hare,
spotting a fox they hop down their holes, coming out again when they dare.
Caterpillar nibbles and chews the tree leaves,
not helping the tree, the little thieves.

Forest at night

The woods so dark,
familar places bare no mark.
Creatures large and small,
head out at night theres no boundaries no wall.

Also mystical creatures enter out at night,
to see a unicorn a beautiful sight.
A sprite wicked in its ways,
dodging low branches as they sway.

The moonlight enters when its high in the sky,
owls observing, waiting, sighing.
Rain drops glittering so bright,
all are dancing what a delight.

Blackness is losing and the dim light begins,
a new day is dawning and wipe out those sins.
Colours are becoming ever clear,
other creatures are stirring especially the deer.

Horses ~Born to be free~

All over there is wild plains,
this is where the wild horses are contained.
They are mixed in colours, palomino, brown, black and grey,
they run long miles and on through the day.

Searching for others to join their herd,
other creatures spy on them, especially the birds.
They now stand shaking their wild manes,
watching men follow them with their cruel cane.

Eye sockets showing white, optics wild red,
man can not tame them, to the plains instead.
Mares and foals are first to go,
stallion cannot keep them, they are too slow.

Leaving them he heads for the mountains,
looking down across the plains.
Heartbroken mares and foals in the hands of man,
a tinge in his heart he calls to them, they are damned.

His life moves on and back to the heard he gallops,
where the horses are wrecking havok.
Boldly he stands before them all,
time to move on he solumly calls.

Off they trot in the moonlight clear,
the stallion at the front with no fear.
They settled soon and lay to rest,
humans are creatures of cruelty and detest.

Unicorn Within

The unicorn stands proud with height,
it illuminates white, oh so bright.
I smiled on wanting to get nearer,
the unicorn stood brave showing no fear.

I edged forward slightly,
it shook its head ever so flightly.
The unicorn disturbed now was moving,
to watch it was ever so smoothing.

Still i waited by the tree,
unicorn nearing sniffing me.
It brushed me against the tree,
inviting me to become one and to flee.

Upon her i sat and we became one,
the unicorn in me fort out and won.
Making me so pure,
keeping me so sucure.

Here in my heart she remains,
shares with me my pains.
Helps me put things right,
fighting those who distain us with great might.

Black Dragon

Black ruffled scales,
his breath poisonous and stale.
Red eyes pierce the ground and sky,
hunger evading, prey he soughts ultimately to die.

Leaping into the air he soars,
down he flies unto the hidden shores.
His claws outstretched, the creature within its grips,
the prey looks up and throws itself forward and its head dips.

Too late it struggled in the claws of the dragon whoes grip became tighter,
but alas the little creature was a fighter.
It strained and it screaled but there was no glimmer of hope,
it's heart failed the pressure full on, it could not cope.

It was too much, his heart stopped with the continued pain,
up to the heavens it flew and back down again.
He saw himself limp on the floor,
but looking back up he headed for the open door.

The dragon saddened for its pain,
watching the blood pour out, how it drained.
His tail extremely long and powerful, whipped back and forth,
fire protuded through those nostrils, roasted prey was his course.

My dog Mac - This poem is based on a great pet we lost in 2004

He came to us when he was severn,
we felt like we were in heaven.
He plays with his noisey toys,
waiting to be stroked by next doors boys.

Hes a west highland terrier,
the sort who could not be merrier.
He jumps on our laps,
where we would stroke and give him pats.

Moving on in time,
he is now 14 but still fine.
Though now he is going blind and deaf,
he still has a great nose and a good meat theif.

He's still my dog, so lovely and white,
he is more tired and impatient and readily gives me a bite.
Though all i was doing was playing game,
but he is now different and not the same.

But he is still my lovely dog,
he is there in thoughts caught in my fog.
He now pines when we go away,
I dont want to leave him i want to stay.

Mac whom is now fifteen,
he walks into things he cant see.
He still perks his ears,
at things he cant hear.

He still comes to bed upstairs,
knowing it inside out like his own lair.
We carry him up and down stairs,
taking him for walks in pairs

Unforgetable memories

You used to trot along the corridor,
You used to push open the bathroom door.
You then used to lay at the end of our beds,
You got old and stayed downstairs instead.
You knew it was time to go,
You watched our tears flow.
Farewell my little boy,
In heaven you play with your toys.

Moles of the underground world

Digging their ways through endless tunnels,
spiralling eventually up a forward funnel.
Reaching up its snout and sucks in fresh delicious air,
other creatures big and small notice the creature and stare.

There fingers very long, pale and slender,
they help when the mole becomes a defender.
The mole is blind to the world,
it does not deter the mole from its fold.

Its snout sniffs out its food,
eating worms to lessen its mood.
Those who think moles are pests,
you are wrong give them a rest.

~Forever Nature~

The clouds move softly, softly by,
like the way each mammal naturally dies.
The sea and sky intertwine so blue,
like the eyes of an animal I once knew.
The leaves rustling in the wind so light,
darkness draws, swayed in soft moonlight.

The dawn awakens, with a chorus so sweet,
the doormouse stirs in the fields of wheat .
Fox cubs play upon, the dew topped grass,
wild and free but will it last?
The cycle repeated,
nature is never defeated.

Night comes again, clouds close in,
a storm is brewing and we within.
Behold the lighting shone before thee,
at a distance as if under lock and key.
Thunder sounding far and spreading wide,
animals take heed to shelter, others hide.

Nature forever occurs here,
its forces are nothing to fear.
Love nature as she loves thee,
when you defy nature, nature defies thee.
For nature is never defeated,
only yourself you have cheated.

The Black Horse

The black horse stood proud,
he shook his head and snorted aloud.
His mane shaking wildly in the wind,
he was searching for followers, no sin.

His tread soft as night, as he glided down hill,
looking for those he can bring to do his will.
Coming across a male and a dozen mares,
the other male snorted and frothed at the mouth, his nightmare.

On their hindlegs they danced, fighting each other,
the balck one won, but accepted the male as any other.
He would no longer be free to breed,
but would soon become anothers seed.

The stallion looked on delighted with his new friends,
he herded them onwards to his wild plains away from me.
He groomed and bit each one playfully,
the mares looked at him expectantly and hopefully.

Kingdom

Into a little kingdom i fly,
off the hippogriff i slide.
The beautiful field that greets my eyes
much flora and the buzzing of flies.

Instead i move towards the cropped trees,
where pixies and gnomes knelt on their knees.
Joining their little fire sitting on a fallen trunk,
as i sat there the fire rose and then quietly sunk.

The gnomes and pixies began to chant,
a rustling sound, like the end of a hunt.
They continued, their faces becoming excited,
then it came a beautiful song and i too was delighted.

Out of the fire popped many faces,
many colours, many races.
Now they rose their delicate wings licked by the flames,
out of the fire they flew shaking their delicate manes.

Their songs carried through the faint woods,
the flying horse smiles and stamped where it stood.
All creatures lapsed into a warm sleep,
their eyes closed others weeped.

The pixies and gnomes got up and began to dance,
as their songs got louder their dancing was enhanced.
Pulled to my feet by some mysterious force,
around i twirled and followed its course.

But too soon the music stopped, day appearing,
the fire gone, the creatures faded with fear.
Sadness flooded my mind, i need their kind,
wanting them back, and cursing the sunshine.

Noone can catch a unicorn

Grand, Bold, Icy white a description fitting a unicorn,
on its forehead was a perfectly carved protuding horn.
Its delicate white coat ruffled in the light breeze,
silently eating, its ears pricked then it freezed.

A little sharp creature hopped and smirked around a tall dark bark,
knobbly kneed and shaggy clothes shown up in the illuminated dark.
"Master would love to ride you, Your purest"
The unicorn shook and tossed his head in protest.

The creature moved towards the unicorn very quickly,
unicorn eyed him madly accustomed now to his trickery.
Without second thought the unicorn turned on its heals and galloped far away,
away from the creature clutching an old bridal, stopping only when out of harms way.

The escape from a werewolf

I walked alone one scary cold wet night,
looking through the trees a full moon in sight.
Whispers and rustlings followed me here,
but i was used to this, nothing to fear.

There was a howl in the distance,
followed by a silent leaf dance.
A growl was heard and a howl nearer,
I stopped listened and tried to hear.

My heart thumping hard so very hard and loud in my ears,
something stumbled onto my path something i feared.
It was human form it walked as i do,
its head and neck covered with fur, looking i gasped "You"!

A smile broke out on the werewolves face,
its yellow eyes smiling, snarling "Join our race"!
"Not Now" i replied in a casual tone.
"Run i will kill, or join me in this zone"!

Some animal now brushed past me, suprised i looked down,
shocked at what i saw i could emit no sound.
A wolf spirit stood before us the pair,
the spirit wolf growled at the were and stared.

A voice whispered in my ear "Go the spirit will hold it til your home"!
"Please take this warning as spirits cannot always protect and roam"!
I ran home as the words left me, running as fast as i could,
leaving the snarls of the were who swore to find me he would.
But now i slept warm and tucked up in bed,
never to wander so late again but to dream instead.

Hawk Poem

An hawk landed safely on the land,
Looking around the haunted desert, mounds of sand,
It's stomach rumbled as food was rare,
A gun shot heard the hawk was scared.

Its magnificant claws threw him back into the air,
Here he felt free and not a care,
Its wings flapped strongly, as it swayed lightly with the breeze,
Another gunshot and his heart did freeze.

Falling Falling schreeched the hawk if only they would listen,
He fell to the ground a soft bundle it's eyes still glistening,
The gunshot wound to his side soaked blood, his eyes now dull,
Everywhere was quiet as it mourned the hawk so sullen.

The gunners came and got their prize,
Looking strangely at the bird its beak smiling, they looked suprised,
They flung it over their shoulder and walked home,
Like the hawk never existed was never known.

But this little hawk lived on,
It's spirit squealed in happiness as it flew beyond,
The wound was gone,
He sang a happy song.

"They cant touch me spirit now,
How i would teach them wrong and scrowl,
It is wrong to kill the predator unnaturally,
Predator that live only on meat has the only living right naturally.

I ve been killed to be mounted upon a wall,
At some grand impressive hall,
Did i ask for you to take my life so young?
Only two years of songs i've sung."

His little ghoulish body moved swiftly,
Again taking the ground where a snake layed sniffly,
He could no longer hurt animals, but the snake was prey and his instints not forgot,
The snake could sense but did not know he could do no harm even if he wanted to alot.

The hawk watched the snake as it splithered on,
Until it was a speck and long gone,

The hawk felt alone once more...
But then something happened in the sky, a door!
It opened and a grand hawk stood there,
Welcome young one its times you came into our care.

The hawk god smiled we know your story and your past,
Come fast,
The hawk quietly but still shocked landed at the gods claws,
The hawk suddenly felt afraid he knew his flaws.

Looking through the door, there was a beautiful scene,
Many hawks flew encirculing each others so keen,
One his age came forward, come play with me,
Hawk god smiled leave the hurtful world behind stay here and be blessed thee.

The hawk hopped in,
A great swelling of happiness within,
The door was closed and the hawk god smiled,
Him and his little hawk friend flew around many miles.

One day the hawk god stopped him and spoke to him,
I have a proposition for you my little whim,
One of our hawk guardian has returned for a break,
Would you continue his work for our hawk friends sake.

"Of course my god i ll do that as soon as you set a date,"
Theres no momont to lose please do not wait,
The hawk waved him out of another gate,
Your heart will tell you when you need rest and a fellow mate.
