Roachi 08-05-2010 03:18 AM

I don't really like pitbull.

Sandy 08-05-2010 03:19 AM

I don't know Pitbull! lol

Just in this video, he looks like he's all that -.-

Emma Corrin 08-05-2010 03:20 AM

I don't either xD
But he's nice in this song~
I only like him when he's featured - I'd never listen to his actual music solo :3

Nivvy 08-05-2010 03:23 AM

Yayyyy songs!

I'm addicted to this song at the moment
I could sing it all day, all night... LMAO.

Crazy EYE! xD

Emma Corrin 08-05-2010 03:24 AM

LOLOL!
Sketchyyyyy song~

Nivvy 08-05-2010 03:27 AM

How's your sketch going Emma?

Emma Corrin 08-05-2010 03:29 AM

Which one?
-has two-
The Oriental Empress or the portrait?

Nivvy 08-05-2010 03:31 AM

Ohh, I have only seen the Empress one, haven't seen the portrait
How are they coming along anyways?

Edit - Forgot to put this in lol, can I see your portrait?

Edit #2 - I just read back through a couple of pages, and all this talk about chicken has made me HUNGRY! D:

Emma Corrin 08-05-2010 03:35 AM

They're coming along really well :D

http://i36.tinypic.com/2h4b1bl.jpg

I like the portrait because the eyes and face came out well - as did the hair <3
It actually looks like a guy and not girly!! :D <3

I'm reallyyy loving the Oriental Empress though

EDIT: Don't say thattt!
You'll make ME hungryyy T_T

Nivvy 08-05-2010 03:37 AM

Ohhh cool Emma, I can definitely tell the Empress one is made outta charcoal now, is the portrait done outta charcoal too? Your portrait one is cute, does look like a guy too xD! Not a girly man lols! Which a lot of my men tend to look like D:

Are these for clients, or school work, or anything in particular? Also how large are they? Sorry for the 21 questions xD *busybody* I've only got my girl's face, and hair done, and it isn't completely blocked in so it looks kinda weird. But i'll snap a shot off anyways. Really should start taking progress shots...

Edit - Bahh construction paper is shiny, and it sucks... Anyways put my foot in there for reference as to how big she is xD! She's stylized in reference to religious portraits, hence the scary face hahaha. She's pissing me off at the moment, so i'm struggling to get anything done on her >.<;;

Emma Corrin 08-05-2010 03:49 AM

Thankies :D <3<3

Yupyup!
That he is :)

The Oriental Empress is just for me - but I'm thinking of doing similar pieces and selling them at a local craft fair~
What's your opinion on it?
DO you think it's good enough? If so, for how much?

The portrait is for a client, however :3
It's of one of my old school friends (he graduated a year before me) so it's a piece I'm working really hard on and have tried a couple times haha
This is the one that's the best :3

And both are 11"x14" :3

Pshh - don't apologize for the questions!
It's nice having people interested in my work :) <3

Ooo!
I can't wait to see :D <3

Haha - you block in too?
My art teacher does that~
I hate doing that personally - I like making it permanent and detailed right off the bad :3

EDIT:: Ooo!
She looks really good!
I love her hair~

I've only worked with Black paper and White pencil a few times~
Want to see one of my favorite pieces?

My other is a Mandella that's drawn in colored pencil and white pencil :3
I tend to stick with the white pencil 'cause you can't smudge white pencil (at least, I can't get it to work right) and I smudge constantly haha

EDIT2:: Btw- that's not what I thought you meant by blocking in hahaha
I do what you do :3

Nivvy 08-05-2010 04:04 AM

Hmm, I went to an arts and crafts fair here a few weekends ago. These kinds of things were priced anywhere from $10 - $120. Personally, I think the details don't convey the forms as well as they could. But i'm thinking that's mainly because I can't see the detail too well, like there isn't many mid tones showing through in the hair in that image. I'm curious as to whether or not her head is turned slightly, to her left - because the proportions suggest more mass on her right, than her left. I think that type of image would sell at a fair. Honestly, go for it - even if you're unsure, because 100% of the shots never taken, are 100% failures. Plus that type of pressure, forces you to really look at your work, and raise your standards. - Not saying your work is crap or anything like that, it's just a type of motivation =) Which I should utilise myself >.<;;

In terms of pricing, I would pay $40 - but that could be the tight arse coming out in me. But that's mainly because it's black and white, I don't know why, but more often than not - unless you're super famous, people seem to pass over black and white, if a coloured piece is offered. I don't know why, there's just a general perception that exists out there - that people seem to think black and white is not completed. *shrug* I hate it personally, coz I LOVE black and white. I just find that it conveys a different emotion, than colour does. I think adding a lovely frame, with a nice matte board would bump the price up more so.

I'll be interested to see, how adding the iris and pupil to her eyes, will change the image up too.

Sure thing =) I always have a soft spot for black and white personally.

Garghh, the stuff i'm using is unrelenting so if I stuff up, that's it >.<;; I may have to go back over her with a black acrylic or something, to fix the white areas - dunno yet. I'm using wax, which is a friggen nightmare. I like it, because of the risk factor involved. Already the face looks a lot different to what I am referencing because my reference image is just under A4 size, which is cool - coz I like how I end up changing things up, coz I have to imagine them a lot harder xD;;

Emma Corrin 08-05-2010 04:33 AM

The hair has to have some shading done to it yet - soft tones, high lights, etc. - it'll all be fixed sooner or later - just getting the basics down right now :3

And yes - her head is slightly turned :3
It'll be more apparent when I get the hair finished I hope haha

Haha - I understand what you're saying :3
I think I might - I have nothing better to do right now lolol

o_O
Seriously??
Holy shizz O_O
-falls to the floor and dies-
You really think it's worth that much??

I know what you mean about B&W vs Color - I'm the same way~
I loveee B&W to death <3
Same with Traditional vs CG - I'll take Traditional over CG any day :3

I'll show you when I have that done :)
I'll probably work on it once I finish the shirt layout

I'll post them in just a bit :)

Lol!
I've never used that before~
I'll have to look for it at college :)

Nivvy 08-05-2010 10:12 PM

@ Casiana

Sure thing dear, sending trade <3

@ Emma

Ohh I see, yeah the Empress definitely looks like she's looking away now.

Well personally, I see so many people underselling themselves, and read reviews on cons, where people moan about how things were overpriced. But the truth is, if you calculated your overhead costs, called up McDonalds and asked them what their lowest hourly rate is, and calculated the amount of time you put into the image - by McDonalds lowest rate - you'd still probably be short changing yourself, and earning more if you put that amount of time into the fast food sector. It's terribly sad, sure people don't like to pay too much for anything these days, it's just a sad reality that if you're creative, people still don't think you're worth it lol. Unless you're super popular or established @[email protected];;

Me too, I love coming home with a traditional piece <3 You can see the indentations on the paper, the way certain mediums layer over each other. It's wonderful. Plus there is no easy fixer uper with trad xD!! Although, I do love looking at digital too, I have a softer spot for trad.

Cool! I love your pattern, and the other piece reminds of Jean Michel Basquate! Nice stuff Emma ^^. I've got my big girl plastered up on the wall in my bedroom, hoping to make a move on with her today. Gosh, I got so side tracked yesterday it just wasn't cool! So hopefully i'll have something more than a headshot to show you next time xD!

Emma Corrin 08-05-2010 10:23 PM

Yay :D
Does it look better now?
Not so awkward?

I know exactly what you mean - there's a painter who goes to a local mall around the holidays and sells these mirrors with paintings on them - they're GORGEOUS~
I paid like, 60$ for it - I totally thought it was worth more~
Though I'm glad it was so "cheap" because I couldn't afford more :gonk:

I know what you mean - I lovee seeing how someone did something :3

Yeah - I like the soft CGs - but I still prefer traditional more because you can have those in person~
The CG pieces might come out horribly when you try and get them IRL as prints or whatever :(

Thank you :)

Mmm - I know that name but can't place the work to it haha
Might have been my inspiration though~
I don't remember haha

Hehe - thank you :) <3

Yay!
Good luck :D <3<3<3

Casiana 08-05-2010 10:25 PM

Thank you! I'm so happy @[email protected] -carries it off in arms-

Roachi 08-05-2010 10:54 PM
