"I believe you said to find my own company first of all. Second of all, you promised a hot meal." Jin said as he came down the hall, his 'guest' waiting for him on the couch. He pulled one of the photos off the wall and flung it towards her, stopping it midair a meer inch before impact with her face. "Are you willing to listen, or will you need to explain to daddy why mommy had an accident?" Generally he didn't like bringing in people that weren't involvd, and he had no intntion of going to all the trouble of finding her parents. More, he wasnted to see her break.
"She's not respectful at all..." Came the silky voice of the woman as he stepped into the room. She batted the picture aside, letting it crash against the wall and grabbed Carol by the front of her robes. "Do you have any idea who he is?" "She doesn't, and she shouldn't. Relax alread... too late..." He gave a sigh as the woman lifted Carol and flung her into the nearest wall, letting her slide to the ground. "That's enough." Jin said loudly, grabbing the woman by one of her horns. "You've just voulenteered yourself to fix food." "Yes'sir..." the woman said, instantly submissive. Jin turned to Carol, "Can you stand?" He asked, his voice strangely gentle. Seeing others in pain was only fun when he had caused the pain. ((For refference, I'm speaking with this person over an IM, and got permission to abuse. n.n )) |
She stared up at him, fresh terror in her eyes. "St-Stay away from my mother..." she said shakily, pulling herself to her feet. "You stay the God damn hell away from her, you bastard!" She was screaming now, tears falling down her face. She grabbed his shoulders, her nails digging into his skin as she began to sob. "Please...please...I'll do whatever you want...feed you, house you, God I'll even sleep with you if I have to just...please..." Her grip loosened and she fell to her knees, her voice barely above a whisper. "Please...just leave my mother alone...my father...he-he wouldn't be able to take it..." Her body ached; she was certain she'd bruised, if not cracked, a rib or two, but she didn't care. It was one thing when it was her life, her body, her emotions, but her parents..."Please...You have your wish...."
|
"You break too easily." He said with a sigh, risiting the impuls to push her away when touched. Although she was finally ready to cooperate, he'd been forced to cheat for that sort of cooperation. Although, her reaction... "Have a seat on your bed, let's talk shall we?" He sat at the foot of her bed, motioning for her to join him. "I'm not going to do anything to you, not yet anyway, sit down. I'm guessing you're mother's not well as it is, am I right? And relax, I have no intention of hurting her."
|
She stared at him from where she was, her eyes wide in confusion, her face tear-stained. Finally, hesitantly, she stood and moved beside him. Her hands shook slightly and she stared at them as she answered, "No...my...my mother is ill..." Her breath hitched slightly and she cleared her throat. "I-I don't understand," she said softly, still not looking at him."You got what you wanted...why do you all of a sudden want to talk? Some kind...of trap...?" Her worry began to rise again, as did her fear. "Please...don't...don't do anything to her....My father loves her so much, and he's taking this hard as is...to lose her even a day sooner than he would have to..."
|
"Ease up, I told you I wouldn't hurt her and I meant it, alright?" He gently reached over, wiping away her tears, I have an offer for you. Whether you accept or decline, that is entirely up to you. I can remove your mother's illness entirely, restoring her life to it's maximum length. That is within my capabilities. However, being a true demon, an act like that will cost you quite a bit. Your freedom, to be exact. Niether parent would realize your absence, as part of the deal, we wouldn't want them mad with worry. However, in life and in death, in exchange, you will be mine. Is that a trade you would be willing to make?"
|
"You...you want me to bargain with the devil?" She whispered. "That's one of the biggest sins of all..." To abandon everything in her life, in her afterlife, for a few extra years of her mother's life...but before the dementia, her mother had been superbly healthy. She could probably live another twenty years if she wanted to, and by that time, her father would be ready to die as well. They could be together forever like they'd always wanted. She raised her eyes to Jin. And she'd be together forever with him.
It seemed so much less romantic when it was him. "An externity with you...in exchange for an extra decade or two for my mother," she said softly. "I'd have to turn my back on the church, on my students, on my friends...all so my mother and father could die together." It was such an unfair deal. She finally sighed. "I...I have to do it...I wouldn't be able to live without myself if I didn't..." |
"You're right, it isn't a fiar deal, but you're dealing wih a demon. And it's not quite the worst sin, I'm not he Devil himself." He reached over and trailed his index finger along her ribs, "Did you break anything?" He asked, not wanting his new toy broken upon purchase.
"Food's ready." The demon said bitterly, "Three plates, waiting at the table." "Are you hungry?" Jin asked, straining to be especially kind to her for the time being. |
She shuddered and resisted the urge to pull away. "No, I don't think so..." He's going to be able to touch me whenever he wants...wherever...from now on...The thought sent another shudder down her spine and she muttered, "I, uh, think I'll eat alone..."
|
Jin nodded, and intructed the other demon to bring a plate. "If anything happens to her because of you by the way, I'll banish you." He warned the woman as she left the room. "And you... I still haven't introduced myself, or gotten your name."
|
"My name is Carol," she said reluctantly, moving just the slightest bit away from him. Though a Christian, she'd heard from other cultures the power ones name held, and the control it could grant. But then again...he already had near complete power over her. A wave of despair washed over her as it occured to her just how truly terrible her situation was. "Carol Nole..." Suddenly she asked, "What did she mean earlier, that...woman? Why would I know who you are?" She thought back to her church lessons, trying to recall if there was any well-known demon resembling him, but she couldn't think of any.
|
"Chances are you wouldn't, since as I said, I haven't introduced myself. It's more a mater of my rank demanding respect. She fails to realize that the social standards set in hell are very different from those set on Earth. She's been taught to serve all her life, naturally she'd take offense to someone stepping out of line like that."
((Sorry, short, going to store)) |
"'Stepping out of line'?" She repeated indigninatly, her resignation momentarily lost. "You were the one stepping out of line! Ordering me around like that in my own home...It's rude! Not to mention you even being here goes against my entire lifestyle. It's all very inconvient." She folded her arms and looked away, her own words slowly sinking in. "...That was a bad thing to do, wasn't it?" She asked softly after a moment, her arms falling to her lap. She hated this.
|
Jin smirked, "At least you can recognize that much. I recommend you at least pretend to have respect for me when other demons are around, I can't promise they'll go as easy on you as ___ did. (Erm, she's a side character, thus not important enough for a name?)" He stood and carefully pulled the photo from the shattered frame and set it aside. "I'll have her clean this up for you as well. I didn't intend to leave a mess." He picked up a thin shard of glass, "Tomorrow you'll take me to your parents. The deal isn't official until I've completed my end of it. I'll change my appearance so as not to frighten them. I'll give you three days to tie up your life here, then we're moving on."
|
"Easy on me? She threw me against a wall..."
She got to her feet and picked up the picture, tracing her fingers along her mother's image. "Three days? That's all?" How could she get everything taken care of three days? She'd have to resign from the church, apologize to her students, make up a story for what few friends she had outside the church..."Where will we be going?" She asked, her voice a bit choked as she held back tears. An uncomfortable feeling was rising up in her stomach, and the very real threat of throwing up made her feel a bit dizzy (being sick was almost a fear of hers). Carefully she moved back to the bed and sat down, the feeling subsiding a little but not much. All her work, all her relationships...all gone in three days. It was too much. |
"She could have killed you without a second thought." He pointed out. "Humans are fragile. There's no point in drawing it out, just take care of it as you wish and be ready to go. You'll find a much more entertaining life ahead of you. Also, you've moved into an entirely different world, I'll have to catch you up on what the afterlife really is. You're little bible is a few thousand years outdated. Speaking of, leave that behind. You'll want no signs of your religion in some of the places you'll be going."
The other demon brought in the plate of food and Jin instructed her to pick up the shattered glass before joining him in the livingroom. "Sleep well..." Jin said to Carol as he left the room. |
"I suspect our views of 'entertainment' differ greatly."
She pushed the food around on her plate for a few moments before setting it down. Giving a soft sigh, she leaned over to her bedside table, slid open the drawer, and removed another Bible. The cover was engraved in gold with her name. It'd been a gift from her parents when she'd joined the priesthood, and it gave her great comfort. After a few moments of flipping through, debating whether to follow his advice or not regarding it, she softly asked the woman, "Why do you let him treat you like that? Higher ranking or not, he doesn’t have the right." Her bed creaked slightly as she slid off and moved to help pick up the glass. She really hoped this didn’t get her thrown again... |
I am naming her Sue. o.o;
Sue looked up, a bit surprised, "It's how I was raised. My class of demon isn't terribley useful in batle, so we serve those that are. Usually, especially compared to other demons, he's very kind to those working under him. But it seems I've irritated him... As for the sex, he never orders me to do anything of that nature, it's willing. He has an amazing figure, and he's good at it." She said with a sly grin. "Sex is fairly meaningless emotionally between demons. If two demons happen to actually fall in love, which is rare, while it's the same action it's somehow entirely different. Unfortunately, he doesn't love me." She dropped the broken glass int he trash, "He's a very important man you know, he's in charge of all of hell's armies. The battle between heaven and hell is a testy one. First, if we involve the mortal realm at all, we risk ending the world for all three areas. Once a human dies, they usually become either an angel or a devil. If we killed all th human and kept getting ourselves banished, no one would be left. Heaven of course wants perfection and order, hell is in for chaos, and the world between is both yet neither. So far the battle is mostly on Earth, and more of a challenge than a war. The angels and demons struggling to recruit. Turning good people bad and bad people good. It's very pointless, since we're about even. Jin has been trying to find away to bridge heaven and hell through the mortal realm without disturbing it. He's not after anything fro either side, he just wants control." |
It was Carol's turn to be surprised, both by how much information one little question had gotten her, and by the fact that this girl craved his affection. Such a chatty demon...it's probably a good thing she doesn't fight. She'd make a terrible POW.
"Obviously, the definition of 'kind' differs between our worlds, because that is the last thing someone from Earth would call him," Carol said, her face tinted pink. She really hadn't need to know about his sex life. "I wasn't even aware demons could love." "Sue..." She asked hesitantly once she was done. "What would he...What would he do with someone like me?" If she was signing herself for the rest of forever with this guy, she figured she should probably at least have an idea what she was getting into. "I mean, you said....it was always willing, but I'm by no means even close to willing." Unsure of whether she even wanted to know the answer to her next question, she hesitated, then continued. "Would he...force it?" Considering how they'd met, she doubted he was above that sort of thing. "And what will happen to me when I die if he..." She cringed, unable to bring herself to say, 'if he owned me'. "If I go through with this deal?" Her personality being what it was, it was already obvious to her this was going to be very difficult. She had never been meant to follow someone or obey orders; she was meant to lead. Doing anything else felt degrading and terrible. |
"As I said, it's rare. After all, why commit yourself when you can be with whoever you want, whenever you want?" ((By the way, she put a shirt back on before bringing the food, but it's basically a green bra.)) She looked over at Carol, "I think eventually, you probably will be willing, once you get to know him a bit better. And I really couldn't tell you... it depends on what he thinks of you, whether he can get someone he likes better, his mood, that sort of thing. I will tell you this though, you're still pure. You're accepting this deal with the devil, thats true, but it's not out of greed so you may still be forgiven. However, if you sleep with him, forced or not, you're bound to hell forever. Chances are once he's bored with you he'll free you, and if you're still pure then, you'll be accepted into Heaven with open arms. This isn't at permanent as it seems. I started out an angel, believe it or not."
|
"Love isn't something you choose...commitment doesn't always equal love. And I will never be willing to be with him. He's vile and rude and crass. The only reason I'm even considering this is because I love my mother and father dearly, more than I despise him." She frowned. "But if it's simply a matter of him finding someone better, I doubt I have a need to worry. With you at his beck and call, he'll always have someone a hundred times for preferrable than I, and without the fight I'd cause. I just hope he gets bored quickly." She tied up the bag in her garbage can, not wanting it to fall and spill the glass all over the floor again. "If you were an angel once, why aren't you now? Why would you switch to be around people like him?"
|
"Demon's can love, it's been known to happen. After all, I love him." She pointed out, "Which is why I allowed myself to fall. I met him when I was trying to save a soul... he rescued me from another demon. The price of saving me, my servitude. And once again, get to now him before you pass your judgment."
"You two sure talk a lot. Carol, get some sleep, Sue, just how long do you intend to keep me waiting?" "Sorry..." Sue was in an awkward place where 'sir' or 'master' was too formal, but 'Jin' was disrespectful. |
"I thought he'd rescued me--turned out he caused the mess. That's enough for me to pass judgement. Demon," Carol sighed, still not knowing his name, "Could you please not to do that on my couch? It's disgusting. At least let me enjoy my last night as my own person without having to drown out you two."
|
"I'll see if he's willing to go elsewhere for the night." Sue said with a small laugh. "And he didn't cause the mess I was in, he couldn't have. The demon he rescued me from is a woman he can't stand, They've been fighting for as long as anyone can remember." She left he room and after some inaudible discussion, the front door slammed as they left.
|
"Thank you, Lord...Oh...I guess I have no right to address Him anymore..." Her heart felt like it was being squeezed. She sniffed and retrieved her book before dropping onto the bed. She clutched it, crying silently. It'll be worth it all...Mother will be better, and for that I would go through a thousand lifetimes with that creature. "Please, Lord...please forgive me..." Eventually, she fell asleep, her face tear-stained, the book still held close to her chest.
|
Jin leaned over her sleeping figure, morning light flowing into the room. "It's time to wake up..." He said softly. His hair was long and light brown, pulled back in a ponytail, and his eyes were a light brown as well, holding a friendly expression. "Carol, wake up..."
