"Not bad. Next challenge, See this?" His wings snapped open and shut again, positioning himself, grinning as usual as he held up a black handkerchief before slipping it into the belt loop on the back of his pants. "Get it."
She blushed slightly. "Can you put it somewhere else?" She'd never had the best hand-eye coordination, and really would rather not risk embarassing herself any further than her inevitable failure would.
Isaac rolled his eyes and tucked it into the neck of his shirt. "Better?" It was more accurate of where she should be aiming anyway.
"Yeah." She tilted her head slightly. "Do you want me to physically grab it or bring it to me?"
"Physically grab it."
"Okay..." She darted over to him, making a quick, yet rather poorly-aimed grab.
((...this is going to get boring quickly o.o I think it needs to be sped up...)) |
Isaac batted her away with his left wing. "You'll have to do better than that."
About an hour later Jin called them in for dinner, the handkerchief still untouched. |
Carol, feeling particularly dejected and disappointed, unhappily trudged up to the house. "I'm really bad at physical stuff," she muttered to Jin.
Jin rested an arm around her shoulders, "You'll get better, relax. It's not easy stuff."
"Let's see you try it." Isaac challenged. Jin shot is hand towards the fabric only to get a handful of feathers. "Pft." |
She smiled, feeling a little better seeing that Jin couldn't do it either. "I'm tired again," she muttered, rubbing her eyes. "But I feel like I've already slept way too much."
"Have some dinner, then you can go lie down again." He said as he ushered her to the table where Marcus, Eias, Sue, and Ida were seated already. Once carol wasn't looking and Isaac wasn't paying attention Jin snatched the handkerchief successfully.
Diah appeared next to Carol, his hand on her shoulder. He usually went days without eating, and as such wasn't hungry, but he seated himself next to her anyway.
"I was watching you through the window," he said with a smile. "You're doing well." "No, I'm not," she muttered unhappily. "I stink." |
"You're too hard on yourself." Jin said with a sigh.
"Says you. I say I'm not hard enough on myself." She pushed her food around her plate, muttering about all the things she'd never been able to do.
"If you stress yourself out your magic will grow weaker." Isaac said in a singsong tone. "Cheer up!"
"...Easier said than done." She began eating with a frown, still thinking about everything she'd ever failed at. "Jeeze, I really can't do much, can I?"
Jin cast her a glare. "I said stop that."
"No, you said I was too hard on myself," she pointed out. "There was no 'stop' in there."
"Well now there is." He said as he swirled the wine in his glass.
"I wish you wouldn't drink," she grumbled in response.
"Alcohol's not a bad thing, it's not very effective here though, even though it's been altered. Most people keep their habits in death."
She glanced at him, obviously not satisfied with his excuse. "I still wish you wouldn't drink." She pushed her food around a bit more, then sighed. "I'm not really hungry."
"Then don't eat. Have some wine." He offered.
"No," she said in disgust. "I didn't drink when I was alive, and I won't drink now."
"Why not?" He asked, "It's not sin to drink a little."
