Battle Systems

Well, as we all have seen, each game has a different style of battles. From the Final Fantasy style to the real time one sees in games such as Kingdom Hearts.

After playing a bit of both, I have come to find that I love the system in the KH games. I enjoy not having to go through 3 screens before and after a game but instead, just walking though the creatures much like one fines on an MMORPG.

I was wondering two things.
First, what is your favorite battle system?
Second: Does anyone know any other games where the system is like KH?

The .Hack series is pretty close to KH in battle system, it's a bit faster in speed in my option than KH. Though I have to say I like my point and click battle systems which varies a lot, such a game series called Neverwinter Nights for the PC, the engine the game uses is one where you can hit spacebar to pause so you have some time to think about what you are doing, so do a few other engines that I know of from older titles such as the Might and Magic series but that's if you are into Dungeons and Dragons.

I like all battle systems ^^ my favourite would have to be from KH: CoM though, that was the best i've ever played with, with all the cards and depending which one you used and combinded with others you'd get a different outcome, its a mix of free roaming and stradegy/turn base

Thank you both!
Tre, I have to ask, what is CoM? I have heard of it before but I'm not sure what game it is.

Although I've never played KH before, I believe the Mega Man Battle Network game's Battle System is very similar to it. Instead of using cards, you use chips (computer chips) for attacks and such. If you combine them in certain ways, and/or use them in a certain order, you can sometimes make a Program Advance, which is a super powerful version of the chips you used, but they're very hard to get a hold of, since the chips you put in your folder come to you randomly in battle... But that's what makes them interesting. =)

The series is pretty old already, though, so they don't make the games anymore, so you'd have to buy them either online or at a used game store. D;

CoM stands for Chain of Memories,it's kinda a bridge as far as I could tell of KH and KHII or somewhere in the middle of KHII, the remastered version of KHII was to have CoM in it for PS2 as far I remembered of hearing the special version for KHII.

I'm not typically a fan of battle system type games. But of them I do prefer the way KH works over all the other ones.

I tend to like real time combat battle systems over most others, particularly like in dot hack and also side scrolling too.

I don't think too much about battle systems because I mainly focus on they story. But I love Rpgs so I like turn based battle very much. I liked FF12 system a lot. It was interesting take on turn based battle.

I used to prefer turn based systems like those in strategy RPGs, but after FFXII I've gotten kind of impatient with them.

If we're talking about KH, I like II's battle system much better than the original. I didn't really care for CoM at all, though, actually.
