Eh, as long as you get it done by a professional you should be fine.
I've had my hair almost every color imaginable. Never pink though. I hate pink.. It's green at the moment. X3 |
I've dyed my hair many times (all at-home stuff)
and everytime, it comes out about the same color. Usually a really dark brown with a redish tone. But then again, that is the color I tend to go for most. x] |
Why alter hair? I have observed many women, and they all seem to want the opposite of what they have. As humans, they are never satisfied and always crave more. Straight haired women want curly hair; curly haired women want straight hair. Blondes want to have black hair; brunettes want to be blonde. Why waste your money and the health of your hair applying all that junk to it? Can't girls be satisfied with the way the look? Do they really think they're that ugly? Take pride in your own individual look and don't try to be someone else. It's not nature's way. Also, women spend hours in front of a mirror doing their stupid hair when it just gets messed up in the wind. Why waste time with that?

Wow. @[email protected] So many replies. *is happy* My stylist couldn't get it nearly as vibrant as I wanted it (I was hoping for a true, pure rainbow reddish color) and so it came out much more brown with a red shade. Still, I'm glad I decided to dye it. It looks a bit better now. I'm disappointed now, though...
@Kirei Chou: If I decide to keep it this color (or just keep dying it different ones) I'll probably do it myself too. I like to save money. @Claudia: Cancer? Never heard of that before, but it makes me kind of nervous. Especially since a lot of the dye was on my scalp and roots. @Fullmetal Phantom: She didn't use bleach, but the smell of the dyes alone gave me such a headache. There was a thick cloud of fumes around my head for a long time... |
hey thats the color of my hair! I love it.
If you are going darker you can always color oops and lighter you can always dye it darker. :) I'm sure the stylist will do a great job! |

I don't like that so many people try to change how they look constantly, and spend all of their time concerned with appearance, but I can understand it. It's all about comfort, and lets face it; a lot of people aren't comfortable with how they look, they want to look like someone/something else. It's been like that for a long time though, look how long make-up has been around. My main reason for dying my hair is a little different, though in the end for the same reason. I'm outside a lot, and in the Florida sun it gets bleached out after a while. I'm fine with my natural hair color, and if it would just stay that color then I would be happy not to dye it, but I do not like what the sun does to it. ;0 |
@marisol: I wanted to experiment with dying my hair because right now it's a common shade of brown. I like to stand out and express my personality through colorful appearances. I wasn't unhappy with how I looked before, but I still wanted to be different. Still, you make some good points.

I love dying my hair. I have so much fun doing it. Right now I think it looks the best I have had it. It is dark with little highlights its so cute. Normally I am a blonde my hair is natural sandy brown but its not the pretty kind it is rather ugly and dull. I have dyed my hair for several years now. Some times it is terrible but just wait a week and get it done again lol. I dyed it my self in high school it was right before Halloween one year and it turned out PUMPKIN ORANGE! I could have died. But every one thought it was for Halloween so it worked out lol. But never again will I use that brand now I go to the salon.
|
Once I stopped bleaching my hair and then dying it, my hair is very healthy. But I do use a super spendy shampoo, and conditioner made to go with my hair color brand. I also use a sunscreen in my hair. That helps a lot.

If you're going to a salon, I'm sure you'll be fine. I on the other hand tried to give myself some red highlights at home one year and wound up looking like a tiger with bright orange stripes in my dark hair, and I made them too thick. D:
|
I use to dye my hair quite a bit. Most of the time I did it at home and it turned out fine, so since you're going to a salon it should too.
My hair has been bright red, burgundy, a redish orange, blond with red chunks, blond, and it's currently my natural brown with light blondish brown chunks put in it. My favourite colour had to be either burgundy or the blond with red chunks. |
I've let my sister dye mine before. XD I did a burgundy shadowbox and light blond highlights. It looked pretty good. I might do it again.
|
I love red hair. It sucks that it fades to orange SO fast. T__T
I have/had red highlights. Within two weeks they became copper. |
I could never dye my hair, highlights maybe....but that is what lemons are for. xD It's just such a pretty brown color, with red, and blond mixed in. I've always liked the color of my hair ^ ^ One of my friends though has a different hair color each month...sometimes really nice, sometimes really ugly. Especially since she had three colors going on at one point.... |

yes I dye my hair I go for auburn to red
|
I've always wanted to get highlights in my hair, but my mom said that people who dye they're hair are disrespective, but I think that's a lie, beacause some are really nice and i'm not sure if I would look good in a color of highlights >__<

I'm naturally a brunet and a few years ago I first died my hair a purple-red color. Ever since then I've been dying my hair that color. Every time I've had it done at home and only one time has it not come out the color it was described, but that was only because it was left in my hair for too long and it came out more purple than red. xD
|
I first got my hair dyed when I was 16. A present. I got the underside dyed red and lighter streaks of blond on top to add to the contrast. That's pretty much the only time I've had it done in a salon, and I've had pretty much every colour under the rainbow.
It's a shame because I like being blond, but the amount of dye I've used has stripped all my natural colour out and I'm now mousy brown...or would be if I didn't dye it. Horror stories?I've only really got one and that stemmed from letting a friend who's never done hair before bleach it.I had black hair and she bleached it for me so I could go purple...Well my roots were shock white and the tips were brilliant red! I looked like an electrocuted goldfish and my hair felt horrid. Took me weeks to get it fixed. In the meantime I met my now long term boyfriend and oh man was my hair a disgrace! But normally dying your hair is nothing to worry about, if it's done right. Also red hair fades extreamly fast!!!!!!! |
Im a natural blonde. I have died my hair brown, black, auburn, bleached blonde. Anyway, brown and auburn look good on my.
Do-it-yourself nightmare: I had my black hair and I was going to dye it brown. It was the first time I'd done it by myself. Usually my mom helps me. I ended up looking like a calico cat with different patches of color all over. I want to dye my hair vibrant red. |
I have never dyed my hair fully, but I highlight it sometimes with a blonde. It looks pretty much natural. I'd never want something like..purple. XD
|
I've been dying my hair for years in salons and most of the time it comes out great!
The first time I went with this particular hair dresser, she did pretty well so I went back to her a second time and she did an awful job.. she was dyeing my hair bright purple and somehow she missed a spot right in the front above my ear!!! All my hair was purple except that one spot was bleach white! lol |
I have never competently dyed my hair. But, I have had highlights done a few times. I have brown hair and I get caramel or blond highlights put in. I would never think of dying my hair myself or doing anything like that. I am sure that if you go to a professional stylist, everything will be fine. :)

Dying.
I just got my hair dyed almost three weeks ago. I had red streaks dyed in it. I haven't tried getting my hair completely dyed, because I'm afraid I won't like it and I'll be stuck with it, so I usually just get streaks or highlights. But I'm disappointed in how it didn't last very long. It has already faded to a light brown, and my natural hair color is dark brown anyway, and you can't even tell it was red at all now. >.< It seems like the last time I got this done, same color, maybe not same exact shade though, and at a different hair place, it lasted a bit longer... Oh well. Next time I think I'm going to try a different color and see if it works out any better.

I've kept my hair dyed pright red for... um years now. I've never had an issue except for once. It mostly had to do with the fact that my hair is so blonde, it's essentially translucent, so we tried foiling my hair with super duper neon red, and it came out in a neon pink skunk stripe. It was cute, but it would not have worked out for a second at my job xd by my stylist has been doing my hair forever and quickly added another batch of dye on top.
the most important thing about getting hair dyed and stuff is having a regular stylist who knows how to handle your hair and what you want. Once you find a stylist like that, you're golden. |
