Misha looked up when he heard Lydia's voice and gave her a small smile. Though it hadn't felt like he was up for long he'd already finished a batch of cinnamon buns that were sitting out to cool, and a batch of muffins were in the oven already. His eyes focused on her more for a moment at Lydia's touch and gave a small nod.
"I'm alright.." Misha knew it didn't sound too confident and the girls knew the reason he baked but it was a common response to such a question. Something that wouldn't make the girls feel glum as well. Misha motioned to the cinnamon buns that were already cooked up for Rae to grab at but he gave an apologetic smile. "No coffee I'm afraid." |
Krad had finished his shower a while ago and dressed in a simple pair of jeans and a white T-shirt, even if they were tight on him. After he had done that, he re-opened the door leading from his room to the balcony. He walked out on the balcony and leaned on the railing, staring at the moon as flashbacks from his past started to flood his mind again. There was no use fighting them off, as they wouldn't go away just because he didn't want to relive his painful past. Without Krad realizing it, the moon had sunk behind the horizon and the sun had risen as his memories floated around in front of his glazed-over eyes, not noticing anything around him. In the state that he was in, anyone could walk up behind him and he wouldn't notice them.
|
"Aw poo..." Rae smiled and slid around Misha's side to the warm awaiting pan. She got her hands on a fork and pried one of the sticky sweet but hot rolls loose, then dipped the fork into the leftover frosting in the bowl on the side, smearing some extra on before she took a bite.
"This'll have to do.. nummy nummy." Rae yawned and licked a little frosting off her fingers, downing another bite as she looked Misha and Lydia over, then cocked a little grin at them both. "I gotta go finalize the plans for our favorite biddies, they set up to go horse back riding today.. lord knows how they'll stay up." Rae rolled her eyes talking all while she went over to the coffee maker and shook some of the grounds into a filter and popped it in, hitting the on switch so the brew would be bubbly and ready for when she returned. She was acting pleasant this morning, more than any other reason for the fact that there had just been too much unpleasantness last night to let it continue. She headed not for her desk though, but on the backyard first to check and make sure all the ash was gone. She didn't want the old ladies questioning where they had appeared over night. She was still nibbling on the cinny bun as she stepped out onto the back porch then down off it and headed out into the yard towards the woods, looking around carefully. As she approached she didn't notice any gray piles or barren spots of earth where nothing would grow now.. well that was good. With a sigh she headed back, but paused as she saw a single individual on one of the back balconies. Krad staring out. She frowned and stopped to watch him, then noticing he wasn't going to look down, she put two fingers in her lips and whistled loudly. |
Krad may not have noticed if anybody were to sneak up behind him, but that loud, shrill whistle was enough to pierce through the flashbacks. He blinked a few times to clear the glaze over his eyes and looked around for the source. Krad noticed Rae standing in the backyard, looking right at him. Krad stood upright and looked around to make sure that no one was within sight before hopping over the railing of the balcony, landing softly on the ground below, then he made his way over to Rae. Krad still had no idea that Rae had seen the events last night. His tone of voice was not cheery, but he didn't let his depression show, either.
"Sorry, I was thinking about some things. Did you want something?" |
Rae put one hand on her hip and jutted it to the side as Krad took his time to find her on the ground, his blinking out of that glazed state looked kind of bubble-brained in Rae's eyes for someone who was so good with a blade. She took a step back startled when Krad started climbing over the rail with one foot, then just jumped off. When he hit the ground like a feather Rae recovered quickly put back on her stony look with a pout, and started walking towards him.
"Yes I did.. " What did Rae want? Her eyes were narrowed and glared part from her lack of morning coffee and her usual expression when facing the vampire she was still very unsure about having let into her life and the lives of her friends. And oh, she could say a mouthful to him about last night.. but what would she start with? Rae gave a sigh and adjusted her weight from one hip to the other. "Look, sorry the game got so out of hand last night. It's just that Misha has had a tough life, and I wanted to do something nice for him. You can't blame a girl for helping out a friend, can you?" Rae batted those big lashes at Krad, somehow looking coy, apologetic, and still annoyed all at the same time. But it was a sincere apology. |
Krad shook his head at Rae as she spoke.
"Don't worry about the game, I'm not holding anybody responsible. And, no, I don't blame you for trying to do something nice for Misha. I'm sure that he has had a hard life, and I know that I haven't really told you anything about myself, but trust me when I say that Misha isn't the only person who's had a hard life. And, regardless of how much you or Misha wish for it, I'm simply not gay, or even bi. I'm sorry, but that's just not something that I can control, just like Misha can't help his preference. I don't condemn him for his preference, but I'm simply not interested in Misha that way." Krad knew that Rae was honestly sorry, but he didn't let any emotion show. No anger, no fear, no sadness, nothing. He had the perfect "poker face" expression right now. He honestly wasn't mad at Rae, or anybody else in the inn, for that matter. "If you have any questions about me or my past, though, just ask. Maybe you'll understand my frame of mind better if you know about me." |
"Ooooooh.. I know more about you than you think I do." Rae smiled coyly and swiped her finger across what was left of her cinnamon bun, seeming to have her own version of a poker face. Though her's was full of too many emotions that it was hard to tell if she was joking or not.
She put her frosted finger on her tongue, then closed her lips around it and sucked the frosting off slowly as she started walking closer, breaking normal social bubble boundaries by coming a bit too close to Krad, then lifted the last few bites of the bun and pressed it against Krad's lips, effectively sticking it in his mouth while she spoke in a huskily low voice. "And I never said I wished you were gay." Rae gave him a little wink then walked around him and headed for the door inside her chipper voice returning. "There's more where that came from, so come inside if you're hungry big boy." |
Michi emerged from the shower with a yawn, and didn't even bother to brush her hair out. Instead, she seemed to be operating entirely on autopilot. Michi pulled on a simple white tank top, which closely resembled a man's, and a plain pair black cotton panties. All this she covered with her usual black, pleated skirt, and a long-sleeved, crimson red, button down blouse, which she left open. Michi then slipped on a pair of red socks to match her shirt and trudged out to the kitchen where she flopped down into a chair, at the counter. All without saying so much as a word.
|
Krad arched an eyebrow as Rae stepped up to him and stuck what was left of her cinnamon bun into his mouth. He heard her words and wondered if she meant what he thought she meant as he saw her wink at him. But he didn't say anything, not like he had the opportunity to do so as he was chewing the bun that was in his mouth, but he watched Rae as she walked around him and back towards the inn.
Well, that went better than he had expected. He thought that Rae was going to be mad at him and chew him out. Instead, it seemed like she had the opposite intentions. However, Krad wasn't sure that Misha would be quite as forgiving as Rae was. Even so, Krad started walking back to the inn. Instead of leaping back up to the balcony attached to his room, though, he headed towards the back door of the inn instead |
Misha had gotten back to work mixing ingredients as the muffins baked and had taken them out and set them aside to cool. He looked up when Michi entered wordlessly he shifted away from the counter and scooped a cinnamon bun off the pan and set it on a plate. He placed it in front of her, the coffee not yet ready he couldn't grab that just yet.
"Morning.." Misha greeted her and set back to the counter. His mind was better to be kept busy on recipes that sat in front of himself instead of what wanted to come forward. |
Michi stared at the bun as if it was a foreign object. She reached a tentative hand toward it, and ripped a piece off which she stared at for a moment before looking up at Misha. "huh?"
Michi was completely unaware of how she probably appeared to the others. Un-buttoned shirt, wet hair, and a glazed expression. Michi looked at the piece of the cinnamon bun again, and placed it in her mouth, closing her lips around her fingers, and slowly removing her fingers from her mouth before slowly chewing the morsel. |
"Are you alright?" Misha asked her noticing she was not quite herself. Well not the normal quiet self as he looked her over again.
He set the tray of croissants now into the oven after having set it to proper temperature, he wondered just how much sleep the girl got if she was as disheveled as she was. |
Rae came strutting back into the kitchen and grinned at all the sleepy faces in there, but went immediately over to the coffee maker rather than greeting anyone again. She bent down and poked at the carafe while the coffee was still annoyingly pouring slowly into it. "Bad coffeemaker, you are supposed to give me my fix sooner! Now you start shaping up or I'm replacing you with a fancy espresso machine!" She sighed and stood up. "If one was in the budget, anyway." She hmmed and thought about the extra cash they'd gotten from Krad staying here.. maybe she could squeeze a few extra bucks into getting one. She'd see how the rest of the month went first.
Rae walked over to the cinnamon bun tray and plucked another up with just her fingers as they were cool enough not to burn now, tearing off a little piece and popped it into her mouth. After she chewed and swallowed she got her coffee cup out, preparing to fill it as the coffee maker was almost done. |
Krad walked into the kitchen slowly and looked around at everybody that was in there already. From the looks of things, the only person not in the kitchen yet was Lily. Even Michi was already in the kitchen, albeit looking like she was still half-asleep.
Krad didn't say anything, instead choosing to sit at the counter and wait for someone else to say something instead, since Krad couldn't think of a single thing to say. |
Michi was still acting in a daze, as she decided she was uninterested in the cinnamon bun and she pushed the plate to the side. As Michi pushed the plate to the side, however, her arm bumped into Krad, and she jerked it back as if she'd been bitten.
Michi's head whipped around to face Krad, and her eyes grew wide in horror. Michi's lips began moving quickly, though her voice was barely audible at first, and she began a panicked move to get away from Krad. Unfortunately, she truly only accomplished falling to the floor where she landed squarely on her butt. Michi flinched as she hit the ground, but she didn't cry out in pain. Nor did she stop her frenzied moves to get away from Krad. Michi practically skittered across the kitchen floor, and by now she was spouting what might have sounded like gibberish to anyone listening, but was in fact a rapid French. A series of phrases repeated over and over again, as if to comfort her. <Stay away from me. I will not relive your horrors. You can't take me back there.> |
Misha was growing worried and he moved away from baking, his eyes focused only briefly on the other male in the Inn but he didn't even give a nod to greet the vampire. His worry only worsened when Michi reacted to Krad as she did and Misha hurried to her side kneeling down next to her resting a hand on her shoulder.
"Michi... what's wrong?" Misha asked more in a demanding tone than the concerned one he'd used earlier. He looked up at Krad though giving him more attention than he'd gotten when he'd entered. The look though was a mixture of confusion and accusation rather wondering if maybe the man had gone back on his word.. |
Rae quickly put the bun and cup down on the counter, following Misha to the floor to kneel on Michi's other side. She gingerly grabbed the girl's forearm and shoulder, helping her sit up a little before she backed all the way into the cabinets and conked her head.
"Michi! Michi honey, snap out of it!" |
Krad was just as surprised at Michi's reaction as Michi apparently was just from noticing him. He fell out of his chair in the opposite direction that Michi fell out of hers, hitting his head on the floor. Vibrant colors flashed through his vision as pain wracked his head. Krad sat up and rubbed his aching head, as if that would make the pain and the kaleidescope inside his head leave. When his vision finally cleared, he saw Michi cowering on the opposite side of the room and speaking to him in what could only be described as a hysterically spoken French. Meanwhile, Misha had gone over to comfort her and shot an accusing glare at Krad. Meanwhile, Krad had a look of pure confusion on his face, wondering what in the hell caused Michi to freak out like that and why Misha was glaring at him. Krad hadn't done anything to warrant either reaction, as far as he knew. Finally, Krad was able to make out some of the phrases that Michi was rapidly speaking. He knew a little French, but not much. As far as he could tell, though, it seemed as though Michi was afraid that he was going to take her somewhere that she didn't want to go. This revelation didn't lighten any of Krad's confusion, though. If anything, it simply made his confusion deeper. Krad shrugged his shoulders and shook his head at Misha, as if to tell him that he had no idea what was going on any more than Misha himself did. Krad then simply stared at Michi in pure confusion as she continued to babble the same things over and over again.
|
At first, Michi shied away from Misha and Rae, before looking at them, and finally showing some measure of recognition on her face. Michi's eyes narrowed, and she grasped both of there arms, looking from one face to the other, and pleading with them, though she was till speaking french. <the demons deceive you. don't trust them.>
Seeing nothing but worry and confusion on their faces, Michi turned her attention to Krad, scowling. She leaned forward on her hands, slipping into a Romanian dialect now. <You will not kill me. I escaped, and mother won't help you. I'll drain you if I must. I saw your filthy assassin friends.> Michi had slipped into a walking dream state after what she'd seen in the back yard last night, and following her troubled sleep she was suffering delusions whereby she was confusing her nightmarish past with the present circumstances. |
Misha looked back at Michi, deeming Krad safe for he'd seen that confusion on the man's face as well. Unless Michi said anything he shouldn't expect the worst anyhow. But he only looked at her even more confused when she spoke to him and Rae in the different language he didn't understand.
He was at a loss for what to do though... words didn't seem to affect her but what else was there to do? He wasn't about to slap the girl even if it had some chance in snapping her out of whatever state she was in. He considered also cold water but instead he watched helplessly his amber eyes darting up to Rae as if looking to her for the answer. |
Rae frowned as Michi first pulled away from her and Misha, then came back and grabbed her arm with more force than Rae had suspected Michi could actually have. Her lithe hand felt like it had an unnaturally iron-like grip and Rae winced some, but could tell at least the girl wasn't doing it on purpose. She was freaking out was all.
Rae noticed the change in dialect and couldn't follow it, but she could speak back to Michi in french. <There are no demons here Michi, we made them all go away. You're safe here okay, you're safe with friends.> She looked up to Misha worried, and saw in his face that he was no help. She then glanced across the room at Krad, not glaring at him at the others but showing a face of concern.. and saw equally he was no help. Things were getting out of hand, there needed to be order here! Rae did the only thing she could think of that she did often to her friends that might snap Michi out of it. She sighed then grabbed Michi and pulled the girl into a big hug where Michi's face was squished into Rae's large bosom, and the female vampire was force to take cheek snuggles of love. "I loooooooooove my Michi-bean! I'm gonna make coffee outta you!" |
Michi flailed and sputtered against Rae, until her hands finally found there way to Rae's shoulders where she began a frantic attempt to push Rae away from her.
"Mmmmph! Mph mmmpmph!! |
Krad may not have understood the French that Michi was speaking too well, but he understood the words she spoke when she slipped into the Romanian dialect. Although, Krad didn't understand what she was talking about at first. But, when she mentioned that she saw his "assassin friends", he figured out that she must have seen at least part of what happened the night before. Krad spoke to her in the same Romanian dialect that she had just used, since it seemed that no one else understood the language.
"Michi, <I'm not here to kill you, or to take you back to whatever hellhole you came from. If your life was anywhere near as bad as mine, I wouldn't want to take you there. I have no idea who you are from there, let alone who your mother is. As far as I'm concerned, your are> Michi. <You are a member of this household, along with> Misha, Rae, Lily, <and> Lydia. <But, if you're not careful, you could blow away the life that you've worked so hard to create here. If you're not careful, the others will find out about your past. Granted, they'll probably still accept you if they find out, but imagine the trust that you'll lose, after lying to them so long!>" Krad would have continued to speak to Michi, but he was shocked into silence as Rae suddenly grabbed Michi and held her tight to her bosom. |
Rae pulled back when Michi pushed, letting her hold on Michi loose since Michi was surprisingly strong sometimes. She gave the girl a wide grin. "Feeling more like your self from my selfless act of luuuuuv, Michi baby?" Rae teased softly, but looked happy that Michi was no longer freaking about about random demons.. just boob demons.
It was then that her eyes turned on Krad and gave him such an annoyed look. "For future reference, I don't like it when people talk in other languages to hide what they're saying... only I can do that!" she added with a pout. |
Michi huffed and wheezed, as Rae released her, and then cast Krad a sideways glance. She had at least managed to hear his words, and was only now digesting them. "Rae... you... are going... to kill me... one day."
Michi slowly made her way to her feet, and began to smooth her shirt when she realised that she hadn't buttoned it, and Michi didn't tend to wear bra's beneath the tank tops she wore. Her cheeks flared, and she hurriedly attempted to work the buttons on her blouse as she made her way toward the refrigerator. |
