Rae grinned more and let go, sitting up out of the chair and whipped around to face Rae. She had seen the boy's leave out of the corner of her eye, so she knew neither was in hearing distance in the house anymore.
"That Krad is being a real brat of a guy. I'm not considering a guest until you help me get revenge." Rae's grin was devilish and he ran her fingers together. "The only thing I can tell so fae that makes him uncomfortable is Misha's advances.. so we're going to make them kiss! Hee hee, the best part if we can get it infront of Mrs. Agnes and Mrs. Sinclair I'm sure they'll book their next trip ahead of time!" Even in revenge Rae was thinking about running the inn. |
Once Rae stood up, Michi let go of her chair. And as she watched Rae describing her plan, she took a step back. Rae never was good at that whole "forgive and forget" deal... But, Michi wasn't sure how this plan of hers was going to play out. Michi gulped, hard, and attempted a smile which was followed by nervous laughter.
"heh, heh, heh... and just how do you plan on doing that?" |
Misha's steps stopped as Krad stopped and he turned to look at him without a look of unease even if they were speaking of what's innocent or not innocent in public where anyone could overhear them. It didn't bother him any and Misha supposed it couldn't bother Krad any as he wanted to hear an explanation of what he meant.
"Well, as Rae said I deal in kisses," Misha replied with a smirk deciding to elaborate more. "She hadn't stated though that it can't be just a peck on the lips but rather with tongue. Say... one minute for every pint of blood you take from me. If I have to work for it.. well as I said.. I may ask for more than simply making out." |
Krad couldn't help but to fall right where he had been standing just a moment ago after hearing Misha's explanation. Krad stood back up, not caring about the looks he was getting from the people who had just seen him fall. Krad dusted himself off and crossed his arms, looking Misha in the eyes
"You know, Misha, you have a one track mind. Of course, I guess I don't really have a lot of room to be saying anything on that subject, though. But that's not something that you can spring on a guy like me. Give me some time to try to absorb what you just said..." Krad turned and started heading towards the outskirts of town again after making sure that Misha was going to follow. Krad still had his arms crossed and appeared to be deep in thought. He was thinking of how he could try to "pay" Misha back for his "donation" without having to feel like his masculinity or sexual preference would be questioned. Then, there was the matter of Rae. According to what Misha had been telling him, Krad was pretty sure that she wasn't going to be happy unless she got to see Misha get his repayment. Krad sighed as he was starting to feel a heavy weight in his gut from the whole situation |
"Ooooh.. I have some ideas. Do you think vampires can get drunk?" She looked at Michi with such devilish but ironically innocent eyes as she had no idea that her close friend she was confiding in WAS in fact one of those vampires. "Mm.. that wouldn't be a good first plan just in case. Besides I want him to have to remember it! No, we'll definiatelly have to go with plan B and... Mrs. Agnes! Mrs. Sinclair!"
The two women were waddling their way back down the hall and Rae turned to smile wide at them. They asked for Misha first.. of course. And when they were told he was running errands, they deigned to be showed to the card table in the reading and living room. Once they were beyond in the next room, Rae turned back to Michi and snickered, lowering her voice now. "Remember that time that group of frat boys visited and turned out jenga game into a dirty one? ... heh heh heh. Mrs. Agnes LOVES jenga.." She grinned wide. "Here is where I need your help. I can't coerce him into playing with us, he'll be too suspicious. I'll get Misha, YOU gotta get Kradnathgil to play." |
Michi arched an eyebrow at the whole of Rae's plan, while listening quietly. It was no use trying to talk her out of it. Once Rae was finished, however, all Michi could do was sigh, and shake her head. She would have no choice but to go along with it, so why not try to find some amusement in it.
"I guess... soo, you're wanting us to play Jenga with Mrs. Agnes, and Sinclair?" Rae had spoken so fast that Michi was a little confused as to what was going on... which, by all rights, was probably safer. She'd gotten lucky on that whole 'vampires getting drunk' question... but playing dumb on that one would've been easy enough. |
Misha's eyes widened as he watched the vampire fall. He'd have burst out laughing if he didn't seem to gasp in shock. Of course once Krad was up Misha was on him, not to check if he was alright but rather to be certain that silk coat was not at all ruined. He gently ran smooth hands over the flimsy material and gave a sigh of relief when he noticed no tears or any significant dirt on the material and with another pat down he stepped back. He failed to notice the looks even he was getting for caring about a garment of clothing rather than his companion who had just fallen.
Misha nodded though at Krad's words and fell into step with the vampire as the man started to walk again. Still though he peeked over at Krad from time to time and began to look slightly confused as he realized they were heading towards the outskirts of town. Misha turned to look at him now even more curiously. "Do you know where you're going?" Misha asked wondering if the vampire was lost not knowing where the man needed to go. |
Krad was pulled from his train of thought by Misha's question. Krad looked at him curiously at first, then realized what the question was that Misha was asking him
"Oh! Yeah, I'm going to that tree that has the hollow trunk and the forked branches." Krad pointed at the tree as he was describing it and walking towards it. When he got to the tree, he knelt down and reached into the hallow portion of the trunk. When he pulled his hand back out, he was holding a leather knapsack with a long drawstring at the top. Krad opened the knapsack and looked inside, then closed it back up. Then Krad reached back into the trunk and pulled out something else. It would have been hard to tell what it was that Krad had pulled out the second time because it was covered with a length of black cloth and tied at the end. The only things noticeable about the second object was that it was fairly thin, yet extremely long. Five feet in length, to be exact. "Good. looks like every thing is still here." Krad turned to Misha as he slung the knapsack over his right shoulder, holding the drawstring with his right hand, and holding the other object in his left hand "Ok, now we can go shopping" |
Misha continued to look at Krad strangely but he shrugged and followed Krad to the tree he pointed to and described. He watched the vamp pullout that bag and the black covered.. poll like thing and only looked at Krad all the stranger. Though he nodded some as Krad declared to go shopping finally.
Misha wasn't certain whether to question any of that and feeling he knew when to mind his own business and when not he kept his mouth shut about he bag and poll that had been pulled from inside the hollow tree. Instead curiosity began to get the better of him as he watched the man. He didn't look that old however if the vampire lore he knew was even partially true weren't vampires immortal and could live for decades if not slain? "Krad.. how much lore that is released to humans true?" Misha asked finally his curiosity getting the better of them as they headed back into town and towards the market place. "Like.. are you thousands of years old?" Misha blinked when he rethought the last comment out and he had to give a small smile yet, "Sorry..." |
Rae gave a pert nod and put her hands on her hips, jutting them to one side while the impish smile on his lips screwed up into a wrinkled nose. "Well we don't all have to, we just have to get the boys to play with them. But if any of the girls wanna play, they at least get a warning that it's the dirty game, kay? Hee hee.. oh Michi don't give me that look!"
Rae could read some of her friends like books, not all the times, but the annoyed look was an easy one. She grabbed Michi suddenly and pulled her into an ample bosomed hug, pressing her cheek to the vampire's, her flesh so warm. "You knooooow it'll be fun!" |
Michi was felt like she was being squished in Rae's hug. And the fact that Rae was so warm wasn't exactly the kind of situation that Michi enjoyed. She knew that her skin was colder than most peoples, in fact she'd been known to use it to her advantage on more than one occasion. This was one of those times. Michi reached up and put her cold hands on Rae's sides, just above her hips. The intended purpose being shock, of course.
"yeah, playing 'strip jenga' with a couple of old women... thrilling." Michi's voice was just overflowing with sarcasm. The thought didn't appeal to her in the least. But, whatever. Let Rae have her fun. It was really the only thing to do, unless you wanted to get Rae mad at you as well. |
Krad shrugged as though he didn't mind the question that Misha had asked, and continued walking without missing a beat
"Well, some vampires are thousands of years old. No vampire is considered to be past "young" in age until they've lived for at least 300 years. But, nobody really knows how long a vampire can live because no vampire has died of "old age" yet. They always end up getting killed in some fashion or another. As for how old I am, I've honestly lost track of the years, so I don't even know how old I really am. I can tell you one thing for certain, though..." Krad turned to look at Misha, his face full of seriousness "I'm sure you've heard of the Czar and his daughter Anastasia, right?. About how there was a revolt and the Czar and his ministers were all killed or whatever? And how Anastasia simply disappeared? Well, I was there..." Krad turned his head and held the cloth-covered item up, looking at it as if remembering something while walking, again with never having faltered in his steps or missing a beat "...oh, yes, I was there..." |
Rae rolled her eyes and giggled. "Okay there was that ONE piece.. but I'll remove it for the game, I'll edit them to mostly be all kissing ones, then they boys won't be able to stop from pulling one!" She snickered happy in her own world as her plan was coming together. Trapping Misha and Krad together in a jenga game with kissing squares... though Michi did have a point about the old ladies. It had been a fun idea to have them watching too... but what if by some irony she had to kiss Mrs. Agnes? That would be.. WEIRD.
Rae gave steel shifty eyes back and forth and resigned a sigh. "Okay okay.. maybe we'll coerce them into just a staff game after the ol' biddies go to bed. They do like their beauty sleep. What would I do without your input Michi?" Rae grinned and gave Michi an overly friendly kiss on the cheek before letting go with a squeek at those cold hands. "Geez Michi, your blood pressure is low again, go eat something!" |
Michi grinned as Rae finally released her, and gave Rae a nod. It would be so much easier to pull off if the game didn't involve the two "ol' biddies" as Rae had put it. Michi responded to Rae's plan as she headed to the kitchen.
"I guess that will more than likely work... provided Krad actually agrees to abide by the rules, no matter who's involved..." Once in the kitchen, Michi saw Lydia sitting at the table reading one of her romance novels. There was a lovely scent wafting through the room, so Michi leaned down to peek in the oven. "What are you making?" |
Rae put her hands on her hips. "He better or I'm going to call him a liar and kick his neck biting ass!" She gave a hmph and turned back to her work, sitting back down in her chair. Her fingers could be heard clacking away at the keyboard.
|
Misha listened to Krad curiously, his eyes moved to meet Krad's as he noticed the serious look. His eyebrows shot up and his eyes widened when Krad stated he was around in Anastasia's time. He looked quite startled for a moment though but he had known the man could be quite old, he just hadn't allowed himself to guess just how old.
"Wow," Misha said not quite certain what else to say though. "That's a little under 200 years since then.. I guess it was interesting watching the times change though.." Misha certainly wasn't certain what to say now that he calculated the time within his head from that time frame. Though he was certain it would be interesting to watch.. he could imagine just how lonely living through the centuries could be... watching humans die as you never age.. It was a scary thought but he didn't put this to words. |
Lydia offered Michi a smile after a long sigh and a period of holding the romance novel against her chest. Her cheeks were flushed from the thrilling adventure the characters had engaged in - in the world and with one another.
"A bourbon beef broil and roast lemon thyme chicken. Mrs. Agnes and Mrs. Sinclair enjoyed it last time and requested them again." |
Michi arched an eyebrow at Lydia. Not at her choice of cooking, but in her obvious response to the book. Michi never did understand how Lydia could get so wrapped up in those stories. But, then, Michi and Lydia had led very different lives.
"Oh... Well, Rae sent me in here to get something to eat. I think I'll check the fridge for some goodies." Michi opened the fridge door, not sure what she was looking for. She wasn't really hungry, but thought she might as well grab something to munch on. |
"There's plenty of things. Everything I baked is stored in these containers. There's some fruit cups you can have with cream. I can make you something if those don't suit you. What would you like?" Lydia had slipped her bookmark where she stopped reading and stood.
|
Krad started to watch where he was walking again, but continued to talk to Misha
"I wouldn't really know. I wasn't allowed to be outside unless it was for a "job" at that time. For several hundred years before that, I was groomed for my "job", after they decided that I had too much promise for being a simple worker, that is. You know, training and such. Learning how to wield blades efficiently, how to be silent, stuff like that." Krad shrugged. "As I said before, my life wasn't all things that one would care to remember. In my race, there's something like a social status I'm a half-breed, Misha... Nothing more than a mere half-breed... The lowest of the low. Half-breeds are loathed. We're good for nothing more than being forced to do the dirty work that the others don't want to do" Krad stopped walking and simply started looking around the town, as if noticing it for the first time "The social status in my race starts with the "Ancients". The original vampires. From there, it goes to the ones that are sired from those ancients. They're known as "Pure-bloods". Then it goes to the ones that were turned by the Ancients or the Pure-bloods. They're known as the "Created", or "Turned". Then, it goes to the ones sired by the Created or Turned. Finally, at the bottom, the scum. The half-breeds... The ones sired by a vampire and one from another race altogether... But, I'm lower then even the half-breeds. Do you know why that is, Misha?" |
Michi turned to look at Lydia, as if pulled from thought. She closed the fridge door, and sat down at the table.
"Oh, I don't know. Like I said, it was Rae's idea." Michi shrugged and smiled at Lydia. The girl certainly knew her way around food, that was for sure. "Whatever you come up with would be good, I'm sure." Michi looked at Lydia's book again. The cover said it all. Two people who looked madly in love with one another... or at least, lustfully obsessed with each other. It was certainly an appealing thought, however unlikely it might be. |
"I know what to make you!" Her smile said it all.
Lydia nodded and headed to the pantry. She would be making something quick - but delicious to the sense of taste! - for her. After grasping a few items, she shoved them under her arms and went to an open space of the counter. Without measuring, she gaged all of the ingredients with just her eyes and intuition. After cooking for so long, she didn't need to follow any recipes on the dot. Only unfamiliar dishes would gain some reading time. "It'll be ready in a few minutes, okay?" |
Rae chewed on the edge of her pen as she was trying to write some numbers out, but telling Michi to go eat was making her stomach uncomfortably aware that it wanted a midday snack as well. She sighed and pushed back in her chair, then put up the ring for service sign on the front desk and walked around and into the living room. She gave the two women a smile, seeing them deep in a poker game, and passed along behind into the dining room then kitchen to the two girls.
Rae went right for the fridge and plucked a fruit cup off of the door and giggled with her own mischievous thoughts at play in her head. "Mm.. damn that smells good Lyd's, I hope you made enough left overs for us!" She moved over around Michi to sit beside her and leaned forward onto the table, then noticed the book Lydia had put down on it and picked it up, scanning over the cover. |
Michi nodded and smiled, as she watched Lydia. It was amusing to watch her cook, especially the dishes she knew well enough to ignore the recipes.
"Okay." Michi sat back in her chair as she watched Lydia, with a smile on her face. "What is it?" |
Misha listened to Krad curious what he meant by 'job' but soon that curiosity was forgotten as he listened to the sad tale of hierarchy in the vampire world. He frowned looking at Krad sadly, lost for words and only wanting to hug the old vampire - as if that would make anything better anyhow.
Misha blinked suddenly when Krad turned the conversation to him a little confused as to why he would know the reason. He slowly shook his head trying to hold back the urge to hug Krad to merely make himself feel better. "No.. I don't.." |
