Thank-you*waves wand*
. . .oh wait you have a wand to darn so it won't work to enchant you. |
CK, I think if they're over something that is big enough so that there isn't a white background, they can look nice. But that being said, big head items are a don't for me on most occasions. I just know when I saw them originally in the store I thought they were so amazing, and then I was disappointed to find that they were translucent. I'd probably be okay with them after a while. They could grow on me like other commons that I wasn't a fan of in the beginning.
|
Some times it just take that one special joining of two items for me to really like an item.

As for the hairpins....I kind of like them.....though I would like them more if they where solid. The shape is really quite cute though so I keep trying to use them. Quote:

You okay? |
I am fine~ The amount of fabric cushioned my fall. >//>;
|
Well, it's a good thing you're wearing so much then. : D
|
Not always a good thing. Imagine if I had sharp things on. D=
|
That would be ouch.....but your outfit is quite cute.
|
@ Platty - Well then, it's a good thing you're wearing such soft, comfy looking clothes! : )
@ Cora - Nice avatar! |
I was talking to Platty yesterday about redoing my inventory. I think I'm going to have to. 6100+ items : (
|
Yeah, thats alot o.0
Organization is KEY. @Ari- thank you ^.^ |
On the organza hairpin topic: I agree that I think they look unappealing translucent. :/ I just dont really see the point, you know? They'd be so pretty if they were solid colors. Because they're beautiful in shape and everything, its just the odd translucency that really throws their look off. *shrugs* I only bought like 2 or 3 because of it.
|
::drags feet some more about mentioning it to wishie as I don't want to tell her that people think her hard work is so unappealing::
|
I don't think they look bad. I love the shape and the color choices. Solid just seems more appealing. I'll leave a comment on her profile and ask for recolors if it would make it easier for you?
|
Nah, it's fine.
Some people (I'm not saying here in this thread, because I mostly saw it in the event forum) were being really rude about the items this event, and so much childish "this isn't to my tastes, so I'll say it sucks" commenting really soured me on all the effort that went into the event stuff. Wishie worked herself pretty darn hard, being the only pixelist we have at the moment because others are on hiatus or no longer work with us. So it's really hard for me to figure out a way to bring up her working again on items I know she's already sick of working on, seeing as they were the items people were the most rude about. (And, personally, I think the rudeness is for little reason. Some of the organza hairpins are more difficult to work with than others, but I've seen each of them used very nicely. It just takes more work to make look as awesome as others, due to background, hair and head-item choices.) Again, I'm not bitching at you guys. It's just hard to maintain enthusiasm in the face of rudeness in general, and while the comments here are mild and for the most part perfectly civil/fair-handed about the criticism, I just feel like it's probably 'too soon' to approach wishie when people are still dead set on counting the work she did out. It's just a reminder to me that I should wait a bit longer. EDIT: Not that I'm saying wishie complained, because she doesn't complain. But usually she's bubbly-excited about the reactions from the users, so I'm pretty sure she read some of the exact same appallingly rude complaints that I did. |
I didn't see anything that the users were saying because I didn't participate in this event except to purchase the commons and EIs, which is why I didn't bother leaving a feedback post in the thread. The only thing I could have said was my opinion on the items, most of which I absolutely loved! The wrap skirts are a little funky, but I think with the right layering they could be pretty fun. I love the overall 30s-40s zoot suit theme with the suits and the fun 80s theme with the more feminine items.
Personally, the initial shock of the transparency was off-putting is all. I can see them working, I just thought they'd be better solid. More useable. There's always plenty of time in the future to go back and rework the hairpins to make them solid. I wouldn't mind waiting. We waited ages for headbands, which were a really simple item, but they came eventually. |
The white one looks dreadful with no background lol, but still the white one is my favorite.....odd......lolz. More then I wish for solid colors......I wish the white one showed up in the thumbnail.....keeps confusing the hell out of me xP
I feel super bad for wishie right now though.....she always does a super amazing job on the items and shes super nice. Its terrible of people to say such nasty things.....why is mene so damn right nasty to one another lately.....it makes me sad. Mene was NEVER this bad before..... |
I think the item is absolutely beautiful. It looks lovely and is a very appealing. Its just that its transparent that bothers me. Just wouldn't be an item that i'd imagine being made transparent, and I dont think it works that well for it. But i'd absolutely adore it if it were solid colors. I've seen people use them, and they just layer so beautifully. o 3o But I just still can't get over the transparency. I imagine it may grow on me, though. ^^ I only got a couple, and haven't used them yet, but perhaps i'll grow to like them more once I give them a try and find what they're suitable with.
Sounds like people have been very rude. :'( I think that wishie did a very good job. Is she the one that comes up with all the clothing designs herself, or do others help with it? Does she just get told what to make, or does she do it all herself? I think that those could also play a part in it. If others were just telling her to make it certain ways, then it wouldn't really be her fault if people didn't like them, because her pixeling is obviously just beautiful! She's very good at what she does. And I also imagine that just in creating new items, its probably very hard to think of new stuff and to decide what the community would like. Overall, it seems like its a very stressful, and hard situation, and one that not nearly enough of us take into consideration before we voice our opinions of the items. I think we've just grown so accustomed to receiving things, that we've grow to be such complainers, rather than sitting down and appreciating the hard work and effort put into giving us such things, we criticize and complain about any flaws. I suppose these are times that the saying "Dont look a gift horse in the mouth" comes into play. We are lucky to be given so many nice items each event, and yet we still complain and complain about something either way. I know that I do, and I do feel bad for it. :x I apologize. |
I agree with suona, it's not the item but the way it was made transparent that bothers me. It just seems like something was lost in the process.
I haven't noticed anyone being overly rude or out right bashing them per say. A lot of people are just saying it isn't their thing and that it's difficult to match them to the backgrounds, hair, colours don't match ect. I don't think those opinions were ment to be rude. Even if there were a lot of people out right bashing them I think everyone is entitled to their opinion and that Wishie being a pro should be able to handle the good comments with the bad. I don't see why you would have to even bring it up with Wishie at all really. I mean it's not like they were main event items or Contribution items. If people don't like them then they don't have to use them. Simple. It's not really as big of a deal as it's being made out to be. IMO. *shrugs* Also when you guys ask people for their opinions in the Event Feedback do you really want them to start sugar coating them? Isn't it better to know when something wasn't well received? Or were people actually saying things in other threads during the event? |
There is a difference between sugar coating and being polite. Sort of the difference between being contructive and just plain rude.
For instance: Person A: OMG those items are totally shitty.....why would you make such shitty items.... Person B: I didn't really care too much for this item this time around. I don't know somthing about the translucency throws it off for me. |
