me either...thats whats hard about this challenge.....like the under 3k is easy.....its the secondhand look thats hard.....
I'm going for items that one wouldn't usually see together...then trying to match....the outfit I'm working on now.....is slightly off on the matching but not like totally off...that might have the second hand feel to it as well.... |

And hmm, that's an interesting way of thinking about it, Paprika. =O <3 Didn't think of that interpretation before. ^^;; I'll give it a whirl though. :3 And, umm, dunno if it helps, but right now the test avatars I've made from secondhand are of clothes that are simple and maybe stretchy or not that form-fitting, since the people you're handing it down to (for example xDD) may not be the same size and all. =O I'm also adding in little odds and ends that people like to give away in general. As anyone who likes second hand stores (*coughme*) knows, you can get really good stuff at a second hand store. "Normal" stuff. But that kind of eliminates the challenge. So try to go with what some peoples' view of second hand clothing is.
Dirty, stained, out of date, faded, icky, etc. Basically, it IS a bit like the hobo avatar challenge (lolijudgedthattoo), but just a little bit fancier. That's what I get from it, at least. We'll have to wait for seiki. |

gah, I was thinking of a approaching it as sort of eclectic... I don't really know how to explain it, but less elegant items, more normal clothes, which I don't usually do... I gave a halfhearted attempt at starting something last night XD

Something about that hat screams YES! at me. I had to buy at least four of them. (the ones without the patterns on them)
I'm gonna stop looking at the Channah vs. Greed page because it makes me sad. :( As for second hand shopping, I've never really done that, but my mom has. I DO have this really lovely second hand skirt that I haven't worn lately because of the cold, and because I don't like skirts in general, but they do have some really nice things <3 I can never find shoes that fit me, though D8; Not that the problem isn't specific to just vintage stores. Usually when I ask if they have my size, they say, "sorry, our lowest is *insert number just half a size above mine*" ;_; |
