Keyori 11-18-2009 04:19 PM

Wow, the WIPs are looking great everyone! :)

Sizzla 11-18-2009 05:47 PM

I"m baaack! :D Thanks to CK for filling in for me as a guest judge. :hug:

Cora 11-18-2009 06:01 PM

@Iro- that made sense to me o.0

@sizz- welocome back dear ^^

*Hime* 11-18-2009 06:12 PM

Is this any better? >.<
I like to keep the lyre, but I'm not sure about the color/pose

Cora 11-18-2009 08:31 PM

The lyre color looks fine...maybe the under the arm pose.

Hatake Ayumi 11-18-2009 09:57 PM

*pokes head in*
Iro, I like the first one you posted on this page.
=)
Not the second one though.
*ducks back out*

Keyori 11-18-2009 10:10 PM

Hime, I'd go with a gold lyre just because the rest of your accessories are gold, and then change your hair color to something else (not gold D: )

Hata, you are looking sassy :P

Anthony Darkyn 11-18-2009 10:16 PM

@Iro
I think the moon is too much; stick with the sash. I like the new hairpin much better. ^-^

EDIT: In response to your question of the harem skirt without the boots:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f2.../sirenWIP9.png

@Cora
I like the combination of those greens, but the black throws it off for me. Maybe it's the black you've chosen. o_O Not at all a fan of the hairpin. Is there another black hairpin you could try? It also feels like there's too much going on at the arms. I'd vote against the punked gloves, just to see how that looks.

@Hime
I have to admit, my first reaction was against the gold and silver together. The more I look though, I think gold hair and lyre would be far too overbearing. The silver works well with the cool colors you've chosen, and the little bits of gold warm it up just enough. Could you try gold shoes and the black buckled corset as opposed to a gold belt and waspie? I like the lyre position you chose. :3

*Hime* 11-18-2009 10:52 PM

So this would be too much then? Dx

That is one scary avatar :o

slowtrain 11-18-2009 11:10 PM

can I get some suggestions for this avatar?
I'm probably going to start working on something new for this challenge soon

Cami 11-18-2009 11:18 PM

I like it, Hime, though she looks rather angry. XD It doesn't mesh with the lyre, which seems more friendly.

Slow: I don't really like it. Sorry. I liked the previous one you posted more.

Any opinions on mine?

Keyori 11-18-2009 11:21 PM

Anthony: That's what I was going to suggest a few pages ago, I just didn't get around to it lol. Harem skirt and no boots = better imo

Hime: Lovely! I'd mess around with lyre placement, but I'll trust your judgment that where you have it now is where it looks best.

Slow: I'm not sure that heels say "mermaid" to me, lol.

Cami: If you were merfolk, I would NOT want to mess with you xD

I'd say try to find a way to get a bit more green towards the feet, but at the same time I don't know if there'd be anything you could actually do. It looks alright, but black doesn't seem a very mermaid-ey color to me, and to use it as your main color just doesn't feel right to me. But, at the same time, you've made it work, so I don't think it's a huge deal :)

Cami 11-18-2009 11:32 PM

I wish I could make my tail the same color as my skin, but I've looked through all of the stores and there doesn't seem to be a way.

I'm a dark mermaid, living in the darkest depths of the ocean.

Anthony Darkyn 11-18-2009 11:42 PM

@Hime
I agree with Cami - the lyre is indicative of something more friendly. Smile! xD

@Slow
Not a big fan of the heels. Is there another skirt that can layer under the orchid one? A blue one maybe? It's just really hard to use that skirt... it's so flow-y.

@Cami
I laughed at dark from darkest. All I could see was a little emo mermaid. xD <3
Is there a solid black boot? I like that look, as it works upward with the silver/black up top.. Or what about flats with green stockings/socks, to get the green in? My eyes are crossing from staring at the multitude of items in the MAC. xD

*Hime* 11-19-2009 12:18 AM

Hehe xD
*curves lips*

Cami 11-19-2009 12:25 AM

Hime: You still look mean. XD I like it though.

This is mine without the silver on the shoes. Personally, I prefer it with the silver.

Anthony Darkyn 11-19-2009 01:29 AM

@Cami
Yea, I like it better with the silver. Looks more fin-like.

@Hime
I like it. ^^

slowtrain 11-19-2009 04:09 AM

okay, started over-ish

suggestions?

I feel like a lot of people seem to be going more for the fierce, from the depths sort of thing with this challenge so I wanted to try and go more towards the Disney style... and I really wanted to use the solar flare crown because it reminds me of Triton's crown (and the similar hairpiece that one of Arial's sisters wears)

anyway, I always liked mermaids who either wore no sort of bra at all (because really, why would they? xD) or had scales over parts of the top of their body, so I triiiied to do that, and the celestial waist wrap is supposed to be fins

No problemo. :3

Xaevan 11-19-2009 05:27 AM

Thank you, Hatake and Anthony. I'll go with the sash then. =D
And Anthony, yes, barefoot it is. Looks a little odd with the harem skirt peeking out. xD

*wave at CK*

lol My avatar's a mess. Mushing things for the second theme's interesting.

~~xXEl3KtRaXx~~ 11-19-2009 12:46 PM

hey my current is a WIP of challenge 2
i'm going for innocence and temper
I'd love some advice especially with the hair/feet

slowtrain 11-19-2009 12:56 PM

I appreciate what the teddy bear means for the theme, but it kind of bothers me in your avatar because the colour is similar, but off from the dress

I'd like it better if you could find a different toy item and incorporate it's colours into the rest of the avatar

Any suggestions for my avatar?

Anthony Darkyn 11-19-2009 01:34 PM

@Elektra
Try some black flats, if we have them. Heels would be too grown up. Also, try a bigger eye style with angry eyebrows and the pouting lips. Bigger eyes = more child like, which would match the idea behind the teddy bear more. Poor, poor teddy bear. xD

@slow
How would it look with the magic-sparkles from the enchanted tome? Because the wrap is the only thing sparkly, it feels a little off-balance, but too much more sparkly stuff would be overkill. Is there any white you can add to the arms?

Keyori 11-19-2009 02:40 PM

Slow: You need white somewhere else, or you need to make your skirt darker.

Xaevan 11-19-2009 02:49 PM

@~~xXEl3KtRaXx~~:
*rubs chin*
These are my opinions and suggestions. You may choose whether to use them or not.
I agree that bigger eyes with a pout and angry eyebrows might work better, as you are playing with innocence and temper and big eyes usually portray innocence, especially if they are bright (rather literally). There are two huge eyes in Eyes of the Wild you can use which would have been perfect, it's just rather unfortunate they come only in sparkling blue and purple. No matter, Eyes 2 or Eyes 5 would be good as well.

As for the hair, your current one looks fine. But if you still think it doesn't feel right, perhaps a more... childish hairstyle might work better, like Hairstyle 37 or the longer style, Hairstyle 30?

@slowtrain:
Do you have silver slave bangles? They may add on to the empty space on your... left hand, right on-screen.
I agree with Keyori, though. You need something more solid gray/metal coloured on the bottom, or more pure white on the top, because the big chunk of white at the bottom throws the avatar balance off a little.

Otherwise, I like what you have on the top.

EDIT:
*swt* That was long. I'm in a sleepy drabbly mood again.
