~*A Dying World*~

Dying World

The world as we know it no longer exists. There has been a shift in power, a violent overthrow of the most prevalent race on Earth.

Now it is Vampires, the unholy blood-drinkers of the night, that reign supreme. Humans are little better than a highly endangered species. But that does not mean that they will die helplessly, nor does it mean all Vampires are evil.

The remaining humans live only because of their skill as slayers, and because of their ability to hide. By day, or "DayShift," humans repopulate their cities in poor, pitiful numbers, talking with each other but never revealing information without knowing the person, and doing it in secret. After all, among bloodsuckers, there are still the rare but present "DayDrifters," Vampires which can walk in the sun. Many a Slayer has met their end to the DayDrifters, simply for being hasty.

As twilight encroaches, the hospitals vacate, and all normal, aboveground human livelihoods are abandoned as they move to their hiding places. The vampires know nothing of the locations of the hiding places. Only that they exist.

Slayers are what meet the blood-suckers in the "NightShift," the time of blood-drinking. Unfortunately for the Vampires, they're running low on food. Very few humans exist now that emerge in the NightShift for them to prey upon, and those few are very hard to drink from. Further, the Elders are the only ones that seem to realize they cannot feed to kill. In a world of starving young Vampires, however, the outcome is usually death.

Smarter Vampires have begun to take "donors," and although the humans are not happy with this position--or at least most are not--it is a solution to Vampiric hunger for some.

Profiles

This is where character profiles go. If you wish to join the rp, please do PM your profiles to me. When I declare you accepted, you may start rp-ing. Mind that I may ask you to correct your profiles, or if the character is too powerful, then you may have to tone them down.

There are going to be 5 Categories (one subcategory) of characters, followed by an additional option.

Vampire -- Your typical younger Vampires. These Vampires are categorized to be within the ages of 500 and younger. The Vampires tend to be very brash, and do not understand the consequences of continuously feeding on and killing humans. However, this does not define all of them. The older they are, the more likely they are to understand their situation.

Elder Vampire -- Vampires over 500-600 years of age up to about 6 to 6000. (There aren't bound to be any ancient Elders. Vamps aren't immortal.) These Vampires are typically more worldly, and understand the problem with the world. They are the ones most likely to take donors, or attempt to obtain them anyway. They don't bite to kill if they can help it, and resent any Vampires that do.

[[Sub-Cat-- DayDrifters]] -- DayDrifters are a very rare breed of Vampire that can walk in the daylight without anything more than perhaps sunburn. They are quite dangerous, since they can live among humans undetected, and feed as they please before running off.

DayDrifters may be able to walk in the daylight, but they are still set on a nocturnal life-rhythm, and too much sunlight can sicken them substantially.

Human -- A human that has a normal DayShift job and/or a subterranean job as well. These humans are the more numerous in the very limited human population. They help tend to the Slayers and their pets, and keep human civilization alive. However, in the open, around a Vampire, they are quite vulnerable.

Human (Slayer) -- Slayers are highly-skilled Vampire assassins. Armed with many different and versatile weapons, they make a living out of cutting down the bloodsuckers. They can also have pets specifically trained to attack Vampires, such as dogs. Veterinarians are prevalent to assist these biological weapons.

Crusnik -- Very little is known about these creatures, and it is all based on legend and speculation. It is said that in humanity's greatest time of need, a creature will rise that shall feed on the Vampires and drop their numbers. This creature is as an angel with the power of a god. Vampires and Humans know little to nothing about them though. To Vampires, it's the equivalent of the boogeyman, and it is rumored that only 1 can exist at any one time.

[I'm really REALLY sorry, but there can only be a set number of Crusniks, and I play them all. =/ I know it's not fair, and I'm sorry, but they're just not meant to be that prevalent anyway.]

Other -- I'm leaving this option to you. You replace the term with what you'd like your charries race to be. Mind, demons are fairly rare in this time period. It's mostly only humans and Vampires. I also reserve the right to decline any race that I believe might be too much.

Accepted Profiles

Roleplayer's Name: Kratosian Taiyoukai

Name: Jade Curtiss

Gender: Male

Age: Over 700 years (Appears to be in his mid/late thirties)

Appearance: Tall and skinny. Has long chestnut-colored hair that falls to about the middle of his back. His eyes are red and his skin is the deathly pale of a Vampire of course. Is usually seen wearing one of two outfits--one that is completely brown, including brown boots and gloves with a red cape. In this outfit, he tends to wear his hair in a braid. His second outfit is of an Oriental make, with somewhat lose black pants, black slippers, tabi socks, and a white Oriental shirt with a dragon pattern that starts from the bottom left, curls around his back, and ends on the opposite side.

(Will post pictures later.)

Race: Elder Vampire

Personality: Jade has a cynical, witty personality. He tends to annoy people purposefully, and accidentally. It's usually hard to tell what he's thinking, especially if you're just going by his words.

Despite his cold demeanor, Jade is not quite as evil as he can come off to others. Still, he's very rigid and dark. As far as respect goes, he has a great deal directed towards him, and thus has made many enemies. His "territory" of sorts consists of a section of city and a great deal of a large park, and he is very protective of that area. Though he disdains unecessary violence, he will kill any Vampire that oversteps its bounds near him.

Weapons/Abliities: Jade isn't particularly skilled at Coersion, though really he sees no need to use it as he is much better at twisting words. He also has the ability to spontaneously summon a spear from apparently nothing. Is also skilled at a certain type of magical artes, something he picked up on when he was younger.

As far as physical prowess, he is a powerful handler of the spear. He also knows some martial arts.

History: Very little is known about his past, and Jade likes to keep it that way. What is known of him is fairly recent, and that is that he can fight with magic and a spear, as well as that he is one of the most powerful Vampires in the city and should be stayed well away from. There is also a rumor that he is seeking a "donor."

She loves music and art.

Appearance:
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...rince/Axel.jpg

Race: Elder Vampire/Daywalker

Personality: Razel very relaxed person. He's calm in all situations, and hardly ever shows fear, or really any other emotion, although he feels them. He's quite secrative, and knows quite a lot about things. He's incredibly intellegent, clever, strategic, etc. He's very logical, and rational. He likes to break things down, and challenge everything, even that that is fact. He's able to look at things from all sides perspectively. He understands quite a few things, and is very wise, thanks to his age. Sometimes he can be a bit impatient, and occasionally is irked or annoyed when someone doesn't understand something, or does something stupid. As if he expects everyone to be as intelligent as he is. Basically, he can get frustrated with people.

Weapons/Abliities:

- Red Shadows: A substance he creates himself, which is basically shadows, or darkness, though oddly enough is colored red. He'd discovered that with this ability, he can make the shadows hot, and also turn them to a smoky like substance. He can also teleport through them, and appear through other, normal shadows.

- Black Fire: Hotter then regular fire.

History: Razel has had a very calm past. During his early years as a human, before he was turned, he was a philosopher, and a scholar. He taught, and learned, studied, and discovered. The night he was turned, he hadn't been intended to be left alive. However, a slayer had been hunting the very vampire that had found him, and interrupted the process of him being drained.

He was left alive, now a vampire himself.

He had no qualms with becoming who he is now, and does his best to feed from animals, and donors, though occasionally will hunt the regular human. He attempts to feed on humans who society would deem as 'criminal's.'

He spent his life training endlessly with his new found abilities, and mastering them to their fullest potential. When he wasn't doing this, he continued his life as a scholar and a philosopher of such, learning more and more as time went on, and always open to new information. He knows quite a lot, and remembers much of what he's learned.

Other: His opinions on things can be rather confusing. Also, he's very practiced in his abilities.

Appearance: Niko has handsome features, fair skin and dark brown semi long, straight hair, bright blue-grey eyes. He's 1.82m tall, has a little muscular body but he's often mistaken for a weak guy. [Picture will be added later]

Race: Vampire

Personality: He has a cold aura on surface, under the frozen expression of his a warm heart is hidden. He'd reveal his true self to close people around him, ones he'd call as family. And when he does, a heart warming smile would enlighten his face. He's intelligent, not a high tech genious but he's good enough to read through one's act at first encounter. Niko is a caring person actually, so much that he can be mistaken for a human if only he didn't have fangs. Adding centuries he lived through, he can see events unfolding around him more clearly, he's hard to fool and probably better to not make upset even.

Weapons/Abliities: No need to mention that Nikolai is a martial artist mastered on various kinds of martial arts. Almost every weaponary is handled with skill in this vampire's hands. Though his tastes are bending to old fashioned close combat weapons. His favorites are a katana he's saving for special occasions, two short swords he calls "twins" and for extreme situations he had got a desert eagle 5 years ago. Nikolai has a high endurance, one can say he was born to be a fighter and he had made his living as a vampire quite that way. His body gets healed quite fastly, that doesn't stop him getting injured more often though.

History: At 16th century Nikolai was born to a village of Ukyraine which was threathened by a plague 2 years later. His family fleed to Russia with the threat coming from disease and the flag of Ottoman. He have grown a fear in his mortal life to the empire, but later he have overcome the fear much later, after experiencing a certain encounter.
At age of 25 he lost his wife and 2 kids to plague and raid of a bandit group. He was abondoned with his lethal wounds mistaken for dead, he was turned there as he was begging for a savior, anyone who could save him from death. His savior was an elder vampire, who owned great lands in Russia, and had an influence over the czar's dynasty. Niko served for the vampire elder decades, after a century and half elder was slayed leaving Nikolai on his own.
He didn't suffer with the loss though, making quite a name himself among vampire society, he used his skills to serve elders and sometimes humans. Most of the job required assasination of a vampire or a slayer, or groups of them from both sides. There was only one job he had failed, it was assasination of a female elder whom he looked up to; respected deeply and admired. He simply abondoned mission before having an encounter with the lady.
Now, he's living in a small wealth still doing what he does best; killing for the highest price or giving bodyguard service if wanted. He isn't in neither side of the balance, humans nor vampires. Despised by his own race because of his past deeds, yet there is a brief sense of respect when his name was spoken.

RP Example: Sun have bid a glorious farewell to the old library building and the city, an hour ago already. It was a brilliant sunset, despise the fact there was no one who could enjoy it fully in the building. Slender fingers brushed over old covers over a shelf, then they swtiched to the lower shelf and caressed those books too, with same sense of affection. Then, hand stopped over a certain book, the one he had been looking for. Nikolai took book out of shelf carefully, it was an old print, perhaps half a century old. His brilliant grey eyes searched words over the old paper, hastily, a smile formed over his lips slowly as he read further more. Then he heard footsteps closing, echoing in high arched ceiling of the old library building...

I may play, i needa think up a profile ^^

Hatake Ayumi 09-12-2008 01:16 AM

[[Kratty?? What? And edit your post into parenthesis please.]]

Silver Crusnik 09-12-2008 03:41 AM

(Kratty is my name on another site, Hatake. Dun worry, I know Roachi, lol.

*prods Roachi* Oi, she's right. Parentheses for OoC, lulz.

Anyway, time to redo my whole post again. I lost it. Joy. :sarcasm: )

The nighttime wind rustled the orange and brown colored leaves in the trees spaced out in Cena Park. Weakened by autumn, the leaves were wrenched from their brances and sent flying in the breeze, swirling around as if they had life in them as well.

One gloved hand reached up to snatch a leaf, bringing it down into the sight of a person leisurely sitting on the only bench in the park remaining. Crimson eyes seemed to study it, as if it told a tail only he understood.

"Time goes ever onwards. Even the trees shall die. And yet I do not."

The man smiled lightly, revealing a pair of distinguishing fangs. He was an unholy blood-drinker o fthe night.

A Vampire. But not just any Vampire, this was Jade Curtiss, one of the Elder Vampires that lived in this city. They were rare, yes, only about two or three that wandered here.

As he gazed at the leaf, its dark oranges seemed to fade into a darker hue...no. Something seemed to be pooling in the center of the leaf. Crimson drops, coalescing into a small puddle.

Jade tossed it away. These hallucinations were becoming more frequent. He knew he would hav eto feed soon. The matter at hand would be to find an appropriate creature to feed on. Unlike most Elders, his hunger seemed to work in reverse--he would feed on a human and never fully be satiated anymore. Likewise, alternatives such as animal blood did nothing forhim. He did not understand, nor did he seek to.

He simply hunted.

Roachi 09-12-2008 09:36 AM

[[0o0o Isn't someone snooty xD. Anyway Kratty - How have you been?? How's college n stuff going??
I will get around to doing a profile, just waiting for someone to do some artsies ^^.]]

Hatake Ayumi 09-12-2008 08:50 PM

Maybe I can leave tonight... She knew it was a lie. She could never leave, not with the children depending on her and the others. It would be devastating if she disappeared. There were few enough people in their group as it was. Julianne walked through the light woods surrounding the encampment, she tried to calm down. This is no time to get cold feet, I need to leave. If I become a Donor, I could save their lives...

Kazuki nibbled on her lips, ignoring the light twinges of pain. There was a shortage in 'food' and she was hungry. The pain helped her distract herself, along with the 600 page book she was reading as she deftly moved through the maze that was a library, trying to find the next book on her list as she was almost done her current one. As soon as she was done, her throat would be burning again, tormenting her until she made another mistake like that one day... Just as she finished Kazlek Bvrinng, she touched the spine of the next book. Just how long do I need to act like this? Living in the library, living off words to fend off the burn? Before long, it would be too late and she would either go insane or take it too far with her food.

Christabel Astrid 09-13-2008 01:53 AM

A man walked the path that lead through the park, and was coming slowly closer to the bench Jade rested upon. He was dressed in a pair of black jeans, which fit a bit loosely. His shirt was a white boy's tank top, covered by a black vest which buttoned only twice at the bottom. His shoes were black boots, laced tightly to the top, and around each of his wrists was a black beaded bracelet, the wooden beads charred, and intricately carved. His hands were tucked into his pockets by only the fingertips.

Razel Silainia was not the least bit cold in the chilly late night air. He watched a group of leaves spiral through the wind, and land softly on the ground. He strolled leisurely onward, inspecting the park around. He was new to the city, and had yet to visit this part of town. He found it rather pretty, with the autumn colored leaves, and the starry skies.

His silver gaze flickered to Jade for a moment, narrowing almost unnoticeably, before returning to normal in a matter of a millisecond, as if the action hadn't been preformed. He sighed contently, glad for a break from his studies, yet at the same time, anxious to return to them.

Hatake Ayumi 09-13-2008 01:57 AM

[[Post 15-As good as deleted.]]

Silver Crusnik 09-14-2008 02:51 AM

(Thanks, Hatake. =3

Also, what is that item?? I want panties on my head too! XD)

Hearing the sound of boots against the park's pathway, Jade turned his head to glance at the one making the noise.

Razel. Well, that wasn't someone he saw everyday. Normally the man was cooped up doing whatever it was that he did. The two Elders were acquaintances, but not close enough for him to know many of Razel's habits or much of his past.

And indeed, Jade couldn't make any sort of assumptions about the other Vampire staying inside so much. He himself spent a lot of time at his mansion, save for a few hours outside during NightShift to look for humans, or animals, which he didn't like.

"Well, well. What brings you out here on this lovely autumn night?" he questioned, offering Razel a lopsided smirk.

Christabel Astrid 09-14-2008 03:25 AM

Razel returned the sly smile, and came to stand before Jade, turning about so he was facing the other Elder Vampire. He pulled one hand from his pocket, and let the arm dangle at his side, whilst the other remained bent at the elbow, due to his thumb being hooked over the pocket edge.

"Ah, hello Jade." He greeted the man, the smile remaining on his face, before adding, "The usual order of business."

He'd actually been out hunting - animals, tonight - on the opposite side of the park. He'd come to this side of the city in hopes of finding something new, or perhaps a straggling human. Unfortunately, he'd come up empty handed on both parts, and had managed only to find himself a couple of deer. Afterward, he'd decided to take a stroll through the park, due to the lovely evening.

Silver Crusnik 09-14-2008 03:35 AM

In contrast, Jade hadn't fed for quite a long time. He disdained animal blood that much. Never mind how little it did, but he didn't make it common knowledge how aging had a reverse effect on him as a Vampire.

"Any luck finding humans?" he asked conversationally, shifing slightly so that if Razel wanted to sit, he would have ample room. "I haven't even crossed a slayer. Such a pity, that..."

Jade's slightly bored tone lilted exotically, the barest accent to it making it sound not quite American.

Christabel Astrid 09-14-2008 03:41 AM

Razel almost scoffed at the idea of finding a human, and took a seat beside Jade as the man allowed him space to sit, "To my dismay, no." He replied, shaking his head gently. He slid his hands out of his pockets, and laid one ankle over the opposite knee in a manner of crossing his legs. He laid one arm over the back of the bench, leaving the one closest to Jade resting in his lap.

"I have yet to either." He continued, letting his gaze roam the park. The slayers were getting scarcer, and or smarter, "Which is unfortunate, because I do enjoy a good fight." He cast the other vampire beside him a sideways smirk. That was just a bonus for running into a slayer verses a regular human. The slayers always made things more fun.

Silver Crusnik 09-14-2008 04:16 AM

"If it weren't for the young ones, we'd have more humans for our troubles," Jade added, his usual smirk fading. "Most Vampires are such fools...it's disappointing to know I'm of the same species...

Christabel Astrid 09-14-2008 04:25 AM

Razel chuckled slightly. Jade's words were an example of a reason why the man enjoyed the other vampire's company, even if they didn't spend time in each other's presence often. The other was very logical, and intelligent in Razel's personal opinion, and conversations with him were held at a higher level, which was something the Elder enjoyed.

"Agreed." He responded, his head inclining in a small nod, "Perhaps if the young were to decline in populace as the humans are, our troubles would cease to exist." Less young vampires, less humans being drained and thrown away carelessly.

Silver Crusnik 09-14-2008 04:40 AM

"Of course, that isn't going to happen. There's nothing to feed on the Vampires, now, is there?" the light-brown haired Vampire drawled lightly. "I wouldn't mind a little murder for the greater good, but I'm not going to start anything unnecessary."

He tilted his head back, closing his eyes with a sigh.

"I'd about pay for a Slayer to show up."

Hatake Ayumi 09-14-2008 01:34 PM

[[It's called Channas panties on my head, I think... It costs more than 1K to buy though... I think... I bought these a month ago. They were an Event Item.]]
Kazuki had grabbed a few more books, her lifeline, as she quickly strode outside, desperate to find something to eat. A book in one hand and the rest in her other, she ran as quick as she could to the forest, hoping for some type of animal, preferably a carnivore. But she collided into another vampire in her blind haste. Before she could embarrass herself any further, Kasuki quickly scooped up her books, preformed a low bow, mumbled an apology, and rushed off.

[[She bumped into Razel if it matters. And she is not in the Forest yet.... She's running in that direction, just to clarify.]]

Christabel Astrid 09-15-2008 10:51 PM

"Mm." Razel responded with a nod, his gaze defocusing as he lost himself to thought. There was nothing by the creature of stories who fed on other vampires, but the man did wonder if a normal vampire would have any trouble drinking the blood of another, and if would sustain one the same as human or animal blood. An interesting though indeed to the Elder, and he would find out immediately, for it interested him.

As for Jade's second comment, perhaps protects slayers as they did their jobs against younger vampires would be a good use of time, "Indeed." He agreed, frowning slightly. He was quickly distracted however as someone knocked into him, and he glanced up at the vampire, wondering how on earth the girl had done that. For if he had not been sitting there, she would have walked right into a bench.

"Careful." He said, watching her gather her books and rise and hurry away.

Silver Crusnik 09-16-2008 12:44 AM

(Just for the record, Hatake, if you want to stay in a part of the rp with us, I'd...well, I'd suggest not running off. I know Jade isn't in any haste to get up from where he is, even if your character nearly mowed into Razel. Further, ah...it seems a little illogical that the park is THAT close to the library Kazuki was in.

Might I suggest having your other character come in at some point? It would prove to be an interesting plot bunny, since there are two Vampires here, Elders at that, and they might take her as a "donor," or dispute about it anyway. *shrugs*)

Jade's crimson eyes narrowed, following the retreating Vampiress.

"Hm. The young continue to prove their absentmindedness and stupidity," he said, his voice carrying loud enough for her to hear, he knew. Not that he cared.

"At any rate, Razel, on the subject of food, what's your ratio of spotting humans timewise?" he questioned. "I haven't had human blood in...about a week or so, but then again, I could just be incredibly unlucky."
