Midnight Music, Emma C. And Loneata

MIDNIGHT MUSIC
The musics blasting through the air, the crowd is rocking, jumping in excitement and pleasure. Smokes drifting off the stage as the singer screams into his microphone, the guitarest and the bass player are head banging to the rocking beat the drummer is dishing out. Hidden in the crowd are myths, things like dragons who can pass for humans, wise and ancient; elfs, hiding their pointed ears, graceful, intelligent; angels with no wings, fallen from grace; fairies, their wings invisable to the naked eye, tricking on their mind; demons, spiked hair, peirced and dangerous; humans, ever so oblivous to it all. They all gather here for one thing, to listen and enjoy.

But something is going on underneath it all, the beginning of something evil and dangerous. Something that must be stopped. Are you the villian or the hero?

WHAT ARE YOU?

A Dragon?
An Elf?
An Angel?
A Fairy?
A Demon?
A Human?

Name: Cordielia Adriana, of the Cortez Clan
Age: Looks to be in her early twenties; 6, 543 years old
Race: Elf
Appearance: http://i37.tinypic.com/f3tezr.png
Bio: Cordielia, Lia for short, is not your usual elf. She has milky white skin, golden brown hair and eyes, and wears a loli-type fall dress everywhere. Her hair is very wavy from natural curl and the front is usually pulled back by two small braids, tied with a orange ribbon to match her dress. Her lips are the color of light strawberry ice-cream and her complection is very fair compared to the golds, browns, oranges, and yellows of her hair, eyes, and outfit.

Cordielia is a Fall Elf, not an ordinary elf. Her favorite holiday is Halloween and is very adament about dressing up, as humans do, even though she is an elf and it is highly shunned upon.
Specialty: Playing the piano that radiates full of emotion.
Other: Lia has fallen in love with a human and will do anything to protect him. They met one Halloween Night four years ago at a gathering where she was playing the piano. He himself was very fond of the piano and as they played a duet, fell deeply in love. However, he soon came to realize her delicate pointed hears that were no bigger than a humans and realized she was not human. This saddened the poor elf for he distanced himself, thinking it would cause her less pain than it would be for her to see him grow old and die while she stayed young and beautiful. Little did he know, she was too in love with him to let him go that easily. Sadly enough, he felt the same but refused to acknowledge it, and instead was reduced to following her from place to place listening to her play her music, which had turned very heartbreaking and sad.

Akiyama sighed as he walked through the back door of the Cat's Nite Club and headed to his apartment on the second floor. Opening the door, he recognized who was performing and sighed even deeper. Throwing his keys onto the stand next to the door, he shuffled over to his couch and plopped down in a lounging position, placing his hands behind his head and closing his eyes. Listening to the music, he drifted off into sleep, dreams filled with the woman who was playing the tune.

Cordielia, the woman mentioned, played a deep, dark melody filled with hurt, pain and love. Although she was a brilliant singer, she never sung the words she was feeling. Instead, she played her melody and through her songs, all who listened heard the words forming at the tips of their tongues and felt the urge to sing out with her playing. Smiling, she gave a slight bow after her song was finished and walked back stage, where a young man was waiting to perform a new song he had written. "Good luck," Lia said as she passed the man, smiling and resting her hand on his shoulder to comfort his nerves, "Show them what you're made of, don't hold back."

The man smiled and gave a simple nod in return. With a wink, she walked down the hall, grabbed her coat and keys, and made her way towards the back door. Unlocking the door to her Ford Fusion, she got in and started it up. Turning the radio on to it's classical station, she began the drive home to her apartment 26 blocks away in a small, yet comfortable, apartment building owned by an elf, just like herself. However, this specific elf, was a guardian of the elves who chose to roam in the land of the human and was of a different race than Cordielia. This elf was a Spring Elf and loved to garden and make things grow. So of course, the apartment building outshown all on its street with it's rainbow of colors.

Walking up the steps she smiled at Amelia, the mentioned elf, as Amelia asked, "Did you see him?"

"No, but I know he heard," Cordielia said softly before making her way upstairs to apartment 3B. There she sighed as she pinned up her hair and prepared for a soak in the tub before bed.

Loneata 09-20-2008 07:00 PM

Dawn leaned back againest the pole behind her and listened to the music. The beat swayed her in mysterious ways, making her remember the life she had once been privileged to live, the music she used to make. She found herself singing along with the singer, putting her anger into the song, screaming along with him at the right moment. Looking around, she noticed she wasn't the only one singing, and couldn't help but smile just a little.

Emma Corrin 09-20-2008 07:01 PM

Wrapped in a towel, she shuffled out of the bathroom while drying her hair. Flipping on the tv, she saw where another bank robbery had occured in the outskirts of the city where she lived. Sighing, she changed the channel to cartoons as she dressed for bed and slithered under the covers. Cuddling up with her tabby kitten Felicity, she snuggled under the blankets and rubbed her legs together. The winter was creeping fast, for although it was only October, it grew colder and colder as the days went on. Unfortunately, Amelia had yet to get the furnace fixed.

Snuggling deeper into her blankets, Lia said softly to herself, "Next pay-check I'm hiring the guy myself."

Akiyama woke up with quite a start the next morning as his alarm went off. Sighing, he turned it off. 'Can't be this early already....' he thought has he started the shower, which was always too hot. As he was rinsing his hair, his eyes suddenly shot open and he darted out of the shower, not bothering to throw a towel on because all the curtains were closed and hardly anyone was up yet due to it being 5:30am, and quickly ran to his desk. There Akiyama grabbed his notebook and pen and quickly wrote down a few lines for a song he had been working on. Laughing at himself for his previous actions, he walked back into the bathroom after putting everything away, got back in the shower, and finished.

Pulling on his pants, he wrote down a few more lines. Giving a sigh of content, he phoned his composer, Aiirie and said he had the new song done if she wanted to come over and use his piano to write the music to it. That was the odd thing about Akiyama, he could write the songs and play the music, but he could never come up with the right harmony for the song. This he left up to Aiirie, who was the exact opposite of him.

Grabbing his keys, wallet and notebook, he headed out the door to the local Cafe where he worked making coffee.

Loneata 09-20-2008 07:05 PM

Dawn let out a sigh as she left the club early the next morning, Next time I leave at a decent hour, no more 4 in the morning crap for me, She rubbed her eyes and pulled her long red hair into a pony tail, tying it off with and old decrepid black scrunchy.

"Time for coffee," she said aloud, and started the long treck to her favorite coffee shop across town.

It had been a long night of singing and dancing for her, and her body felt extremely wary after all the strain of bodies banging into hers, and her throat felt raw for screaming over the crowd at the normous bar tenders. She ready didn't understand why she need to go so bloody far for just one cup of coffee, but the place calmed her, and it had this heavenly feel to it that she had trouble find after being on Earth for so long.

Once she reached the place, she walked in and ordered her usual latte. Sinking into one of the cushioned recliners the place had to offer, she let out a loud groan and began to sip her coffee.

Emma Corrin 09-20-2008 07:07 PM

Akiyama, noticing the regular reclinging in the nearby chair, gave a soft chuckle as he noticed her tired look. After filling quite a few more orders, he noticed Dawn's latte was almost empty and brought her another one. Setting it down he sighed, "Out late again eh Dawn? You really shouldn't stay at Cat's Nite so long, it'll kill your hearing. Believe me, I live above it."

Cordielia yawned as she sat up in bed and stretchd. Smiling at her unaltered appearance, she dressed for work down at the local Boutique and simply fluffled her hair, which although had not become messy, had become a bit flat. After leaving a bowl of milk and a dish of food out for Felicity, she grabbed her jacket and keys and strolled down the stairs, stopping in for a quick morning chat with Amelia about the furnace before heading out to her car.

Loneata 09-20-2008 07:09 PM

"You know me, can't keep me away from the music for long," Dawn chuckled,"Though my hearing is as fine as ever. The bands where extremely sad last night though, makes a person want to weep." She took a sip of her new latte that Akiyama had handed her. "Makes me wonder what people are going through lately, is everyone's heart breaking, or is it just how it seems to someone as bitter as me?"

Emma Corrin 09-20-2008 07:12 PM

Laughing, Akiyama sat opposite her and rested his elbows on the table, "If you're bitter, than I am as well. For although my heart is breaking as well, I can't stop writing sad love songs. Nor can I keep from singing them for that matter. As for everyone else, I think their lives are simply too dull so they create problems with one another, even if the one they're destined for is staring them right in the face, ya know?"

Cordielia pulled into the Cafe la Roue parking lot and turned off the engine to her Fusion. Grabbing her purse, she stepped out of her car and walked into the tiny Cafe. Stepping up to the counter, she ordered her usual Swiss Mocha Latte, extra creme, as well as a Bavarian Creme donut.

As she stepped away from the counter, she noticed a girl she had seen regularly in the shops near where she worked. Stopping dead in her tracks, her mouth stood a bit agape as she saw who the red haired girl was talking to. Due to stopping suddenly, a man behind her bumped into her. Mumbling an appology, she quickly walked out of the Cafe and leaned against the wall outside.

Peaking in the window, she saw how they laughed as they talked. Biting her lower lip, she made her way to her car and started the engine, setting the donut box onto the seat beside her and placing her coffee into the cup holder between the seats. Placing her hands on the wheel, she tried to calm herself. "We broke up months ago. It's only natural he found someone else. It's only natural she's of his kind... human." She practically spat the last work out. She hated him for not associating with her due to being an Elf, and she hated the red haired girl for being human and the type of girl Akiyama would fall for.

Loneata 09-20-2008 07:22 PM

Dawn took another sip of her latte,"Then I guess your bitter like me," she chuckled,"Your right about people though, it seems like they just can't see past their own pain, can't see the hurt they're causing others." She leaned back into the chair, her latte in hand, and looked strait into Akiyama eyes, wondering why he kept writing those love songs, and for whom. Who ever it is, she still means alot to him, I wonder what happened between the two of them. If only I was still a full angel, then I might be able to see.

Emma Corrin 09-20-2008 07:37 PM

With a sigh Akiyama nodded, "That's very true... we humans are a terrible species when it comes to emotions, don't you think?" By 'we', he meant everyone on the earth who wasn't an elf. Little did he know that other races populated the earth, one of which happened to be sitting across from him.

"I do believe that our society has become a bit... darker. We all listen to the headbanging music that wreaks of death and murder. It's no wonder people believe their lives are boring and have no fulfillment. All they hear is 'glamorous lives on the fast-lane'. Little do they know how little of those songs are actually true."

A horn sounded from behind her. Cordielia awoke from her trancing thoughts with a start and immiediately through the car into reverse and got out of the person's way so they may take her parking spot. Pulling out of the Cafe and heading towards the Boutique, a tear trickled down her soft cheek, now flushed crimson from embarassment.

She soon took her exit off the highway and pulled into the parking lot of the Aki Boutique. Grabbing her things from the car, she walked up to the Boutique, unlocked the door, and walked through the large store to the back room, where her office was. Sighing, she set her things down on the table beside her desk and plopped into her chair. Placing a hand to her forehead to massage it, she picked up some paperwork and began reading it over, wanting to forget bout what she had seen at the Cafe.

Loneata 09-20-2008 07:46 PM

Dawn nodded in agreement,"Yeah, humans are getting darker with each rising sun, makes me wonder whats going on with heaven and hell ya know, what they have in mind," She got a far away look, thinking deeper on what she had said, what was going on up there, if anything at all was happening. "People keep losing their faith in God, and with God in your lives you always know there's someone out there to save you from yourself in the end." But not for me, I'll never die, becuase of him.... She sighed and looked at him,"At least you can see past all those hidden meanings in those songs, right?"

Emma Corrin 09-21-2008 12:36 AM

With a sigh, Akiyama's darker personality took over, "I honestly don't care to know what's going on with either. I feel wretched enough that I shouldn't go to heaven, yet I'd much rather not deal with the terrors of hell either. To be honest, I'd rather be in limbo, it's the proper punishment for what I've done." This side of Akiyama, though rarely seen, was quite dreary and miserable to be around. He had seen Cordielia rush off to her car and drive off the way she did. Unfortunately, he didn't realize that she was even in the Cafe until she was already to her car. And, from the look on her face, he knew she despised him with all her might.

"As for seeing past the hidden meanings? Not necessarily. I can just tell when things are fake, an when things are meant from the heart. That's why I generally hate music of today."

Loneata 09-21-2008 01:01 AM

Dawn looked at Akiyama closely,"What exactly do you think you did that was so horrible to put you in such a position my friend? It's not like you killed someone, right? And being stuck in limbo I bet you, wouldn't be much fun," She would know, she was,"Don't be so hard on yourself, things can always be worse. Sorry, I'm a little dramatic sometimes." She took a long sip out of her latte, finishing it off, and sighed," That was wonderful, you sure do know how to make them."

Emma Corrin 09-21-2008 01:07 AM

Akiyama looked at Dawn with despair, "We-e-e-ll. There was... this girl.... She was a bit.. different..." Sighing, he leaned in closer, realizing he was doing a terrible job at explaining the situation, "Promise not to tell anyone about what I'm about to tell you? It sounds crazy, but I feel I can trust you. You seem... I dunno.. like you would understand.. ya know? As for the coffee, thanks, it took me almost two years to be able to make the coffee right without having to look up the directions."

Loneata 09-21-2008 01:16 AM

Dawn raised an eyebrow,"I promise not to tell. How was she different?" He seems really distressed over all of this, I wonder what was wrong with the girl. She set down the latte cup down on the table that was in front of her, and leaned in closer to Akiyama, so that no one could over hear.

Emma Corrin 09-21-2008 01:27 AM

Biting his lower lip, making him look a bit childish, he lowered his voice and began his explanation, "Her name is Cordielia Cortez, she works in a boutique not far from here. I met her a few years ago back at a Halloween party. She and I both loved the piano. I adored what she played from the start, you see, and that's how we met. A friend we were both acquainted with introduced us and we hit it off. We never ran out of things to talk about.

Unfortunately... I never realized why she wore her hair down all the time. The fact is, it was to cover her.. pointed ears. You see, she's... Cordielia is.. well, the girl I'm in love with is in fact an Autumn Elf. You see, her ears are so tiny that it's easy to mistake them for human ears, which is what I had done for the three years we had dated. A few days before I had planned to propose to her, which I'm sure she sense I was ready to do, she revealed her ears and explained who she was. I was in shock.. I should have handled it better..

I avoided her after that.. I... I.. I hurt her terribly.. I feel so wretched.. I still love her.. but I know she'll never want anything to do with me.. I hurt her too much.. She trusted me with such treasured information, and I practically threw it in her face.. I know it shouldn't have changed anything.. but I was afraid.. I love her terribly Dawn, but.. I can't help but think she'll grow to dislike me as I grow old while she stays young and beautiful.. I don't think she'd want to watch someone like me grow old.. In the end it'll only cause her heartache if she still loves me when I die.. I want to save her from that...

Do you think I'm being wreckless? I know I don't deserve her.. but.. do think it's possible, if she still wanted to, that we could possibly have the relationship we both crave? I mean.. we had always talked about starting a family together... but.. what if some of our kids are like her, but some are like me? Some will never age and die once they reach the appearance of twenty, while others will grow old and die..."

Loneata 09-21-2008 02:37 PM

Dawn covered her mouth with her hand and sighed, then removing her hand she said,"Elfs, I knew about those already, I know alot of things most people don't. But how you reacted was stupid, if I knew you a little better I would hit you. But if she really loves, she'll take you back, and thats what you should try to do, its the right thing. You two just might be destined to be together, and fate was kind enough to bring you two together.

"Don't be like me and live the rest of your life it regret for not being able to love the one you care the most for, don't let her slip away from you. Don't let her being an elf get in the way, let your feelings guide you to the right thing to do." She leaned back into her chair, and closed her eyes for a minute, as if to mediate on what she had just said, then opened her eyes again, nodding her head.

Emma Corrin 09-21-2008 02:47 PM

Akiyama sighed, "Go ahead, I deserve it. I deserve far worse.. You see, I never truly thought about anything this deeply until it was too late to go to her.. I'm afraid it's just too late now.. I don't even know where she lives or where she works.. all I know is that she works in a boutique... and that's only because the friend that we're both acquainted with, Amelia, has told me bits and pieces of how she's doing.. From what I can gather, she's moved on completely and has a new boyfriend... I don't want to ruin her life even farther.."

Loneata 09-21-2008 02:57 PM

Dawn scratched her eyebrow,"Hmmm, well the only way your ever going to know whats really going on is to find her and talk to her. I don't think you'll ruin her life further any further then you already have hun. She's a musican like you, find one of her shows and go back stage and talk, thats a plan that might just work for you."

Dawn stood up to leave,"It'll all work it self ou in the end, for better or for worse. Be brave man, follow your heart and quit hiding from what you really want. Take that leap off the edge of that cliff your standing on. I'll see you tommarow, my bed seems to be calling out my name franticly." She left the cafe, heading towards her place, which was only a block away in a small run down apartment building.

Once she reached her stoop, she pulled out her keys and opened her door. Her place was only a two room apartment, with a shabby futon for a couch, and a small dining room table that was rickady and didn't even sit strait. She sighed and walked to the other room, and plopped down on her old mattress, staying awake long enough to pull out her cell phone and putting it on loud.

Emma Corrin 09-21-2008 03:35 PM

Akiyama sighed, his break now over, and picked up Dawn's cups, bringing them to the backroom to be washed. Upon coming out, he noticed there weren't as many customers as usual. As he made a gentleman's order, he spoke lowly to a girl that worked with him, "Is it me, or have you noticed that our usual regulars haven't been showing up lately."

Nodding, she took a woman's order before replying to his question, "I have. Strange isn't it? We're the only cafe on the highway, you'd think they'd stop in every day like usual. I wonder what's up."

"Yeah, me too.."

Sighing, the two continued working until the young girl's shift was over, bringing in another guy who was very punk looking, causing Akiyama to double look at the boy, "Peter?! Is that you? Blimey, what have you done to yourself?"

"Nothing, just a few improvements."

"When did you get this done?"

"Last night, why? You want it too?"

"No thanks.. I think I'll pass.." Sighing, Akiyama thought to himself, 'What a strange man.. he was perfectly normal yesterday.. I wonder what changed him...'

Cordielia sighed as she finished signing papers, making phone-calls to order more shipments of shoes and other clothing, as well as making phone-calls to agents to try and contract celebrities new lines to debut in her shop.

Slinking into her chair, she looked at the clock. 'Almost two.. I wonder how Akiyama and that human are doing...' With a start, she knocked over a pile of papers as her assisstant knocked on her office door.

"Did I disturb you ma'am?" asked the girl shyly.

"No, no Maria. I was just lost in my thoughts," she said with a laugh as she picked up the mess she had made, "What is it?"

"There's a customer outside, she wishes to speak to you."

"Yes, alright, I'll be there momentarily."

Loneata 09-21-2008 03:58 PM

Kain had been searching for years, and now he was just finally closing in on her, he could feel her angelic presence near by. The aura she gave off driving him mad with desire for revenge.

He turned his head, popping his neck and grinned at a beautiful young human crossed his path. He loved to see women melt at his devilish seductive smile. He was the type of man that could send a chill down your spine with one single glance from his mysterius eyes.

Stopping in front of a boutique, he glanced in searching faces for some sign of his angel.

Emma Corrin 09-21-2008 04:15 PM

Cordielia walked out of her office, down the hall, and into her boutique. Smiling at the pompous old woman standing beside what looked to be her granddaughter, she walked over to them and nodded her head in greeting, "Good afternoon Mrs. Moreno, may I help you?"

"I sure hope so. I don't trust these willy-nilly store clerks you have here with this job, Ms. Cortez dear. My granddaughter here, Loraine, is in need of one of those fancy-shmancy gowns you wear at balls."

With a soft giggle, Cordielia placed a hand on Mrs. Moreno's shoulder to comfort her before placing an arm around Loraine's shoulders to give her a bit of comfort as well, for the dear girl looked absolutely petrified and embarassed.

"Now now dear, nothing to be afraid of. What type of ball is it?"

"W-winter Ball," the young girl stammered.

"She wants something light and fun, but nothing to showey or flashy. Something decent and refined, but will fit in with kids this day in age. Back in my day we wore our church's best to such gathering and didn't worry about the frills and whims of todays fashion. What was good for God, was good enough for a bunch of houligan boys."

"I know what you mean, Mrs. Moreno. I think I have just the thing for dear Loraine in the back."

Smiling, she walked quickly back to the baack room and opened a new shipment of gowns. Digging through the pile, she found a darling strapless baby-blue gown with silver embroidery along the hem. Grabbing the gown, and a string of pearls from her jewelry box on her desk, she walked back out and showed the young girl the gown.

Beaming with joy, the young girl took her grandmother's hands and smiled, "May I?"

"It's sensible enough," snorted Mrs. Moreno.

Smiling, Cordielia handed the gown to the store clerk and handed the pearls to Loraine, "These pearls will look dashing with the gown. Be sure to take good care of them alright?"

Mrs. Moreno eyed Cordielia, "Cordy, dearie, I don't think you should be giving such expensive things to a child. They'll likely come back in pieces!"

"I don't think so, Mrs. Moreno. I think your granddaughter will take extra-special care of them for I am giving them to her for keeps," Cordielia added with a wink.

Mrs. Moreno sighed, "Oh alright, if you're going to be that way Cordielia. You're a good woman, I'll be back in a few weeks to pick up the clothing I ordered."

"I look forward to seeing you. Have fun at the ball Loraine!" Cordielia called after them as Mrs. Moreno and Loraine stepped out of the shop and headed down the street to the left, where they were parked in a Parking Garage.

Loneata 09-21-2008 04:21 PM

Kain grinned when he saw the elf come out of the back rooms holding a gown and some nice pearls. This might be fun, a little game to play while I look for my darling angel. He straighten his black jacket, made sure the first three buttons on his black dress shirt where undone and walked into the cute little shop. He made himself look quite hopeless as he looked through the clothes, hoping the elf would come give him a hand.
