japanese?

Has anyone every looked up any disney movie films in japanese? or looked up any songs in japanese. I think they are beautiful.

What do you think?

Not sure about Japanese specifically, but i do find songs in almost all languages pretty.

Angel Naomi 10-01-2008 06:19 PM

I've seen the japanese version of one of the Aladdin songs XD They're so funny. Personally I like the original language in which a movie/cartoon/anime was made in. I like american cartoons/movies to be in english and prefer Japanese movies/anime to be in Japanese (with subtitles).

Pinkasaurus Rex 10-01-2008 06:30 PM

I have not watched it in japanese, but I have watched them in spanish, and it's just beautiful. English is such an ugly language. xD Really if you think about it, it so choppy, too many sss sounds.

icandiee 10-01-2008 08:46 PM

I think Japanese is a cute language. :3

Merrow 10-01-2008 10:27 PM

I actually enjoy the sounds of most languages, if spoken by the right voice.
Even a so-called "ugly' language like German can be beautiful in the right voice.

As for English being ugly... I actually like it. Though I feel sad that my American accent isn't as eloquent as an English or Scottish or Irish one. I wonder sometimes if they think *OUR* accents sound as cool, but I doubt it. XD

I do like Disney music in Japanese, Spanish, and Russian. All three are such beautiful languages.

I think Japanese is such a lovely language, it flows and words fit together so nicely. I want to learn it, but first I want to learn Russian.

Alpharlie 10-02-2008 04:38 AM

I'm learning Japanese at school, and I'll agree that it is a beautiful language. (Though confusing at times!)
I love listening to songs in other languages, i feel that i don't get sick of them as fast as i do with English songs. That and, there's so much more diversity in their music. I find that songs in English sound unoriginal & repetitive.

On Naomi's point about watching films/shows with the original soundtrack, i agree, i can't stand it when Japanese anime has been dubbed with horrible English voice actors. It doesn't sound right at all.

The reason English is so gutteral is because it's acually a modified form of ancent German.

I like the sound of Spanish and French. Japanese can be pretty, too.

Jenn_heart 10-02-2008 06:49 PM

I haven't seen any Disney movies in Japanese, but I love japanese songs. the language is very pretty, and it flows nicely. Maybe people like languages that they can't understand? I mean, I like not understanding Japanese songs.

Lost_Ninja9213 10-02-2008 07:30 PM

No but I do watch Japanese shows/movies in Japanese with subtitles, since I can not stand English dubbed. Some phrases just can not be translated literally without sounding lame. I also watch Chinese movies with Jet Li and others in Chinese. i especially liked House of Flying Daggers. It sounded really good in Chinese. Our old Bruce Lee videos, however, are in English, and provide a good laugh.

I've heard a few Disney songs in Japanese. The catchiest one is "Painting the Roses Red" (partly because the only one I can find is a Naruto amv http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG-FW9cd168 ).And of course Miyazaki movies are awesome. Usually, I listen to them in Japanese and they sound better than the English voices (most of the time). I'm taking Japanese, so hopefully one day I'l be able to understand what they are saying without subs!! I don't think I'll actually watch a disney movie like Aladdin in Japanese until I'm able to study abroad in Japan. :) Acutally, I want to see the Emporor's New Groove in Japanese. That'd be fun.

d2hiriyuu 10-02-2008 09:43 PM

There are many many anime people who look at japanese art and such, that is why i like it alot. American has it's merits too but still.

Anyway, love japanese songs all the time!!

Queen Fool 10-02-2008 11:16 PM

Honestly, I like the sound of Latin. Sadly it's not spoken anymore...

I take it though.

Tsumetai 10-03-2008 12:26 AM

i love to sing songs in japanese ^o^
my fave song is hateshinaku tooi sora ni
it's the opening theme song to the anime kyo kara maou

i also love miyavi
pichichichapucharanrabursuru is my fave song XD

like 99% of the songs on my mp3 is in japanese, i have a couple of chinese songs from the band Silver Ash, sadly i've heard they've dis-banded, broke up cause the chinese government didn't like them speaking against them, that's what i heard >.>

`Yume 10-03-2008 01:59 AM

yes, japanese songs are very pretty n__n I especially love the song by Smap. oh and i love "sakura" by moriyama. Its like a graduation song. The meanings of the japanese songs are just so powerful ;]

Luenola Marxiel 10-05-2008 05:37 PM

I haven't seen any Disney movies in Japanese, but I have heard some Disney songs in Japanese. I can't seem to picture the characters in my mind right when I hear it though. Somehow, Disney in Japanese sounds very odd to me.

As for Japanese songs...the sheer quantity of it I have probably speaks for itself as to how much I enjoy it. Now that I've deleted all the stuff I don't like, I have about 10Gb of Japanese music. I find they tend to have better lyrics than English songs in general. I also like Latin songs though; they tend to have a very...ethereal sound.

Ac!d 10-05-2008 07:18 PM

I like listening to songs in other languages occasionally, but I always have to translate them into English just so I know what I'm listening to. I don't listen to these songs often, however, because I get frustrated when I cannot sing to them. Even though I don't sing well, I always have to know the words and sing to my music. I don't know why.

But you could always get romanized or pronunciation-based lyrics to learn the words to the songs?

HatoriTheAmazing99 10-08-2008 02:22 AM

I dont look up Disney movies in japanese, but i DO love Japanese culture =] (music, trends, living, etc.) =3 I think its amazing and i would love to visit someday.

RavenChii 10-08-2008 02:41 AM

I'm learning Japanese now too, mainly because I love anime. I haven't really seen any Disney movies in Japanese though and have only heard a couple Disney songs. I love Japanese music, especially songs from anime. I agree that English dubs of Japanese anime usually lose a lot in the translation and you just don't get the same 'feel' for the show as you do with the Japanese version. The language is so expressive that it's hard to replicate it in another. Sorry if I wandered a little off topic.

Neori 10-08-2008 02:52 AM

I have looked at them in other languages.

Not particularly in Japanese, but I have to agree some are quite beautiful.

elissis 10-12-2008 06:56 AM

oh, i've never heard disney songs in another language before. (except there was one song from Prince of Egypt that had many languages in it.. can't remember the title off-hand though).

i do love listening to songs in different languages.
the japanese songs i hear come mostly from anime xD;;

@suu-san:
oh, you're taking japanese too? I tried a very basic course, and am thinking of going for higher level courses to learn more.
and that might be fun.. to hear what kuzco (emperor's new groove) would sound like and the expressions he uses if it's changed to japanese.

`Hikari-chan 10-12-2008 08:49 PM

Mmm.
Japanese music is love. <3
I think the language sounds so beautiful.
And most of the time, the translated English lyrics are beautiful too.
