They sometimes pop around for short periods of time other than events, but it's fairly rare. XD (Not counting Announcements or contests in Community Discussion.)

Nalin would post in his fanclub thread in Menewsha Nations, but that seems to have died. I probably should revive it, as I like to support the fanclubs. But... eh. Maybe it'll revive itself during Halloween. XD

I think that's most likely true (that some people would object). But people will object (loudly) over any pairing they don't like. XD I'm sure an anti-Mayor/Vicktoria group will start up. XD; Fandoms just work that way. XD

I suppose it comes down to how things 'go' in the future. There are more characters to be introduced and lots of story to tell. I may have my favored pairings, but I'm determined not to let that influence the story - but let the story influence the characters. I've role-played far too much not to know that if you go, "These characters look good together - let's work to get them together!" it doesn't work half as well as characters who just sort of hit it off naturally. XD

I'll probably always :heart: Abel/Nalin, but they may not be the most natural pairing. XD Especially since Nalin's kind of asexual (which doesn't rule out either gender as a future romantic partner) and Abel's got the whole elves-age-slower-than-humans thing going for him. ::rambles a bit::

But who knows. XD I've yet to write the next segment of the storyline. (Er, not the Halloween segment. I've written that.) Anything could happen, granting that the other ECT members and the AA who gives input into storyline agree with it. XD

In the slash-universe in my head, it's Abel/Nalin forever, though. :heart:

LOL. Seito's with you on the anti-Mayor L/Vicktoria train. XD I'm not terribly fond of Vicktoria myself, but I adore the Mayor, so I'm willing to pair him with anyone who makes him happy. (Which may not be Vicktoria. We'll see what happens, though.)

XD I wonder which female would even suit Nalin... I think Omi suggested Tesel for a semi-abusive relationship. ::laughs::

XD I'm not sure I've seen Abel/Nami suggested (Nami/Nalin, yes. Mayor/Nalin, yes. But so far, Abel's only been paired, that I recall, with Nalin or Tesel, I think...) but I wouldn't be surprised if that gained support. ::laughs::

And I think it's safe to say that there will always be some degree of fanservice. XD LOL. It just depends on which character or pairing you're looking for. XD

Hokay - more than ever in this conversation, I feel the need to state that this is a mostly not-serious conversation and should not be taken as hinting that such will or won't happen. XD (This applies retroactively too.) We'll just pretend that for these conversations, I've no connection to the storyline and just am a fangirl who has more background information at hand because I can translate straight from the source-language rather than having to wait for the translations... Yeah.

Yeah - I tend to forget how much is publicly released about Abraxas (as he's one of those characters that was released before I joined staff and the information about him was extremely disjointed). I believe Iro was hopeful he was a younger guy too. XD

Nalin and Tesel have only interacted a few times, that I'm aware of. XD I know that during Celes Paradi Tesel berated him for being a weakling and demanded he run laps around town or something like that. XD Though overall intimidated by Tesel, Nalin was willing enough to do as she said. Except he'd injured himself and couldn't oblige until his ankle was better... I wonder if he ever did do those laps. ::laugh:: I suspect that Tesel/Nalin is plausible, but that it'd be difficult to arrange.

Yeah, I'm not sure Nalin/Nami would work very well... Nami is very young-at-heart and Nalin seems a bit more of an 'adult'... It's also been made very clear that Nami is straight. XD (He has a crush on Tesel and Tesel seems to return that crush.) But assuming in the slash-world viewpoint that it's all denial and all that, I would think of Nami as more the uke than seme... And there is no force on earth that would make me believe Nalin is capable of seme tendencies. ::laugh::

But one thing you have to keep in mind about Vicktoria is that she is very outgoing and passionate. XD Nalin is more moderate in his reactions/displaying emotions. XD So I'm not entirely certain that assuming Mayor L weren't straight as an arrow he'd be much attracted to Nalin. XD At least, if Mayor L preferred a certain 'type'... I could see Nalin caring about Mayor L and them having a close bond, but I think Mayor L likes to be fully engaged as he has a tendency to take on a huge pile of work/responsibilities. He'd probably prefer someone who was able to distract him from work rather than someone who would be more likely to quietly tend to him when he wore himself out. XD But... that's all purely hypothetical, train-of-thought stuff.

Abel/Nami - LOL. I admit, it has its appeal. XD Even though both have stated they are straight. I do think it'd be somewhat plausible, though.

Yeah. XD I'm able to stretch a little, but I can't break canon to get a pairing I'm interested in. Sirius/Lupin in Harry Potter. Absolutely. L/Light in Death Note, sure. But after a certain point, I have to say, "Where would you get that?" And I tend to stand by pairings that are canon, even if I don't like them (Harry/Ginny, for example). <Unless, like Lupin/Tonks, I think there is strong evidence that the relationship is unstable and would break under the correct circumstances.>

XD And I have to feel a bit sorry for the Menewsha NPCs... they are well-loved, which makes me happy... XD But because they're 'accessible' fictional characters, they tend to get assaulted in various ways. XD; Users 'stealing' their clothing, attempting to do all sorts of acts upon their person, sending them love-lorn PMs, declaring themselves married to them... all sorts of overwhelming things. XD; Including informing them that they're 'perfect' for another NPC. LOL. Which tends to make them react with discomfort (Mayor), embarrassment (Nalin), dismay (Nami), or anger/irritation (Abel). XD

LOL. Yay and good. :3 I figured you wouldn't take it as such, but I also wanted to cover my behind if someone wandered into this thread elsewise. XD It rather makes me think of those manga-ka who write their canon stories, and then publish doujinshi on the side of these same characters under different circumstances. XD <-- And I do keep threatening to do something like that here. LOL.

From when I post-stalked them last... I believe Abel offered to help and Nalin hinted along the lines of, "Your company and assistance are welcome and all, but people are going to assume stuff if we walk off into the summer night with each other." and Abel's all, "Point. TTYL." (But we can assume with fangirl logic that since Abel left not too long after, he probably caught up and helped Nalin. Aaaaaa hahaahaaa.....! ::mocking laughter at the poor boys:: )


Yeah, I think Tesel/Nami shows some promise. LOL. Yes. And Nami, if you'd ever read his posts, has a much shakier claim to his straightness (IMHO, as an outside viewer) than I think he realizes. XD At least, he may be fully straight, but he'd have more trouble being believed than Abel would. XD Nami may be all-together in the manga, but in the forums, it's pretty easy to provoke a response from him that'd make you wonder. XD

::pictures that... and shivers:: Vicktoria is such a girl too, that any male character that's meant to resemble her in personality would have to be quite the queen. >_>; (And while there have been characters I've known and adored who were like that, I just couldn't imagine surviving a person like that IRL. I'd be worn out keeping up with them.)

I can see your point, actually. XD I would think that Nalin would be very understanding about that sort of thing, and supportive as well. XD So, I have to say that as long as Mayor L didn't 'need' an aggressive personality to keep his attention, that I could see Nalin/Mayor working. XD (As disloyal as I feel to Mr. Mayor to even considering it. LOL. ::hopes he doesn't wander across this thread. Eee..:: ) XD

- Tesel: No-nonsense fighter-type.
- Aimee: Young, cheerleader type.
- Li Mei: Young, fashionista type.
- Channah: Older, married, and abrasive (if generous).
- Ann the Bunny: She doesn't even live on Mene most of the year and is too busy learning to be the next Easter Bunny to have any thoughts of romance...
- Cessy/Cecilia: She's a child. >_>;

I thiiink that's all the officially introduced females... As for the semi-officials...

- Lise: The arcade girl.
- Sera: The tattoo shop girl.
- D: The shoe store girl.
- Mango: The lingerie store lady. (That's a stage name, of course.)
- Lapis: The jewelry store lady.
- ...and the Emperio Plazzo lady (but I think she's married too, even if I can't remember if she's got an official name yet).

Oh... there are the goddesses of Celes Paradi... Feast, Song and Dance. XD

If I were to hypothetically pair Mr. Mayor with any of the above females, not including Vicktoria... Sera, Mango, and maybe Feast or Song are the only ones that remotely seem plausible (to me, currently). And I'm not even sure that I'd consider any of those particularly plausible. XD

I would have been much more accepting of Ginny/Harry if it hadn't come out of nowhere and been ham-handed in execution. :/ The way they finally and officially hooked up was abrupt and... kind of gross. Particularly when you remember how closely Ginny resembles Harry's mother. >_<;;

I liked Ron/Hermione, but I would have preferred Harry/Hermione to Harry/Ginny. >_<; I actually kind of rooted for Harry/Luna for awhile. And I certainly shipped Draco/Ginny... XD; (It had a nice Romeo/Juliet feel to it. :b )

Yeah... I wasn't too fond of how Harry "grew up" in the books. He was far less of a snot as a kid. There were glimmers of an interesting character later in the book, but that was largely overwhelmed by his angst and unreasonableness. If he just would have listened to anyone, half of his angst wouldn't have even happened. Ohwell. I still enjoyed the series, but... :B

I'm an L/Light fan (even wrote a fic, haha). Speaking of breaking canon though, the (capslocked, max font sized and bolded) rage over MelloMatt in the anon meme on LJ was hilarious.

I actually have a queen character who may be worse than Vicktoria... I haven't worked with him in ages, though. I think where my love/.hate reaction comes in with these sorts of characters (male or female) is how big a wrench they put into the lives of the characters around them for their own selfish reasons. XD;

So for the last several weeks/months, as I got to see the progress of the Valentine's storyline and Mr. Mayor's visit to the hospital, I went all to sympathetic mush over Mr. Mayor's pain, but didn't feel much of a twinge at Vicktoria's possibly-equal pain. XD; (I think I only worked on the hospital scene of the Valentine's story... I forget whereabout I started to write, as some bits had to be rewritten before publishing.)

I think that I'm just not much on wrench-throwers, even though I'll use them in my stories. Harry was a wrench-thrower too. XD

Good call, on the goddesses. XD And most of the not-officially-introduced characters only have framework of personalities done so far anyway. XD Which makes even the hypothetical very hypothetical. XD

Mango seems to be an interesting middle-ground between Vicktoria and Nalin, though. But that's honestly all I can say as she hasn't been worked with very much. XD; And Sera's rather composed, controlled, and very strong-willed. And, uhm... very quiet. I don't know that I could speculate on her probability of yuri leanings. XD I don't suppose I could rule it out, though. XD

Yeah. That one was extremely painful to read. >_<; I loved it for a few scenes, but the book was largely a chore to wade through the angst and personality change. I should re-read it and tell you the "good scenes". LOL. "read pages 15 and 16.... and 67 - 70... and... uhm... all of chapter 5's good..." <-- Just making that up on the fly.

See, the way I think of it is from remembering some conversations with younger Brits I've known... (I haven't had these sorts of conversations with older Brits, though. So maybe this isn't entirely accurate.) From those conversations, it seems that for those particular people, at least, it's not necessary to be friends with their significant other. The two things are entirely separate. And, often, they wouldn't even have many common interests, but would just have a "developed" interest in whatever their S.O. was interested in at the time. Like, he was into soccer, so she'd tolerate going to soccer games or watching them on television, and he would likewise tolerate when she wanted to go to a concert for a music genre he wasn't into. Their interests didn't overlap, so if the relationship ever went south, they could still enjoy their separate interests without getting depressed about it or running into one another. XD;

So, yeah, granted, that was based on a handful of people and how they had experienced relationships up until that point, and several years ago when they were teenagers, and not adults. And I don't watch much British television or modern British literature. But I've seen things in what I have read/watched that suggest there's something to that, though it's probably skewed entirely.

... Uh. So - when I read the Harry/Hermione scenes, I think to myself, "There are two people who are friends and glad to be friends and only friends. They feel free to be their true selves with one another because of it." and when I look at Ron/Hermione I think, "And there they go, letting their chemical interest in each other get in the way of them attempting to relate with each other the way Harry and Hermione can... *sigh*"

I just assume it's a culture thing, is all my rambling means... (And, certainly, I'd prefer being friends with my S.O. .... erm... Yeah.) But assuming that what I'd been told/had explained to me is largely not prevail ant in the Brit culture, the way JKR writes relationships seems to be strangely skewed. The only truly 'good' relationship I can think of is Remus/Sirius. XD; And theirs was severed by a good ten-something years based on war-torn paranoia/doubt. XD Poor star-crossed lovers.
