Overkill much?
A program capable of monitoring all processes on a computer...
A program capable of interfering with these processes... A program that keeps track of what hardware is available to your computer at any given time... A program with higher authority than the administrator... A program installed without the user's permission or knowledge... A program capable of receiving patches and updates... A program embedded into very sensitive parts of the computer's OS... A program that stays on the computer until formatting or difficult manual removal... A program that dodges user confirmation security features from windows Vista and Spy bot... A program that can alter it's information any time without warning or announcement... Is a program said to be for stopping people from making copies of a video game. Does this seem like a good deal to you? It seems like in order to play this game you have to essentially surrender your entire computer's security and all of your personal information, including credit card information if you buy things online, and trust that the company will not abuse this power. Do you want to take that risk just to play a video game? i wouldn't. What is the logic behind this SecuROM program EA is using?? If they cannot trust us not to pirate, why should we trust them to have such a powerful program inside our computers? I am quite frustrated right now because i was not informed about this evil program prior to purchasing spore, nor told it was being installed, i only found out after accidentally running across some information on it. EA should not be able to practically own my computer because i BOUGHT a game from them. |
I would have to remove it from my computer. They shouldn't be able to install anything without your knowledge and they shouldn't be able to bypass your computers security system. I would also try to get my money back, I would think what they are doing should be illegal.

Good gosh. I'd take that crud off your computer a.s.a.p. D: Even if it's EA, I wouldn't trust them. Like Yeah said, if they need that much control over your computer, it seems like it'd be illegal. Hopefully you could at least get a refund if you wanted to. |
Game.
That is ridiculous, and doesn't sound like something that should even be legal. Does it prevent you from copying any game, or just that particular game? I don't know anything about this game but I've seen other people online complaining about it too, apparently it also has some stupid thing on it that only lets you install it a few times or something, so if your computer crashes (and most computers eventually over time die in some way where they need to be replaced and where you might lose the information you have on it as well) then once that's happened you can't play a game that you paid for anymore. I think my friend got this game for her DS though. They can't really do weird stuff to a DS game, the computer one sounds like something that shouldn't even be bothered with if they are doing this much nonsense to it.

This thread is more appropriate for the Computers & Video Games subforum, so I'll be moving this there.

Details on what it does in order to prevent 'piracy' are secret, due to DRM rules that protect them from having to say what triggers their safety measures. it makes me worried that it'll crash my computer if i try downloading any large programs, even if they are free. since installing it i've noticed i can't autoplay music CDs, or double click on them, i have to right click, select explore, then double click on the song to play it ><;
Sorry about misplacing the thread |
EA want to take over the world. This is only the begining, The conversion has already begun.
That does seem a bit sus to me. Mainly the part about it having greater authority than the Admin. Thats not right at all. |
