Ry - I just hate asking for them. D<
I mean, I get along well with most of my teachers since it's a small school. I wonder if my adviser could write a letter too. o.O; She seems to like me a lot. Jean - This program is really hard to get into, I hear. There's only two offered here in Oregon, that I've found anyway. And one of them is at a private school. Tuition is like 36k at that school. The school that I'd really like to go to is only 19k. |
That makes a big difference, Estrella!
I would think that having the degree when you're done is all that's necessary... It probably in the long run won't matter if you got it at a more expensive school! |
Yeah, I'll be entering either program with a bachelor's.
But my aunt and I decided I should just apply for both. And if I have to wait a year, I could just take classes that may qualify me for out-of-state pharmacy programs. Which I'd rather NOT do because I'd be moving farther away from all of my daughter's family who are my biggest support. But if I get in, I get in. University of Washington isn't much more expensive than the private school. But it's a much, much bigger city. :gonk: |
Stay with your support group!
That's going to mean so much for you with your daughter... I suspect you're going to be studying so much, you'll need the help! Smaller schools are soooo much better! I hate getting lost in a crowd! I just noticed! That I use exclamation marks a lot! |
Yeah, that's what I figure.
And I'm thinking that when finals week comes around each term, my daughter might need to stay with grandma. xD I don't want her to suffer neglect because I've got five exams to study for. :gonk: I use emoticons as punctuation a lot when I'm writing. Not so much lately because I monitor it. :ninja: And yeah, I love my school now because it's super small. Community college ftw. xD But the class sizes when I join the pharmacy program won't really be heinous either. They only let in 90 or so students. |
Well, 90 students still sounds like a lot...
Be sure that you get into a study group. I know that helped me immensely when I was in school. We would study together and help each other out. It's so much easier to learn when you get input from others who are also trying to learn the stuff! |
Well, it's not as much as some of the other classes would have. Thankfully.
But yeah, it's a lot more than the 20-30 students I'm use to now. You know, I've never had the opportunity to try a study group. I live 45minutes from campus and most people like to meet on days/times that just never seemed to work for me. D; |
I had a few friends when I lived on campus, and we did our Math stuff together...
Then my senior year, I lived off campus, so I spent the days at the student union (between classes). That's when I really got into the study groups... We met a few evenings, but mostly during the day between classes. It was funny because some got along better with some teachers, so we'd parcel out stuff... "OK, Jeanne, YOU go ask Dr. Meineke about the upcoming test, because he likes you best!" So I'd go talk to Dr. Meineke, and he'd give me some examples that he says would be helpful to know... So I'd go back and share it with the others. Then the test comes, and that EXACT SAME problem is on the test... lol... |
Yeah, I have friends on campus but they all live near campus. xD
So when they want to meet, it's usually near/on campus. And that's a 45 minute drive for me. Plus I have to find a baby sitter. Sometimes they meet after my classes are over. But it's like 4-5 hours after my classes are over. D< Which means either sitting around campus for that long or driving home and then back to campus. But gas prices are insane and my car is a freaking guzzler so I usually just opt out. Ha! My o-chem professor was frickin' hilarious. There was this one student and you could just tell that she did NOT like her. She was always very brief and "shut your mouth" about answering questions for her. XD I didn't like the girl much either. :? She was really rude a lot of time times. |
Teachers are just human too!
They respond when you treat them with respect. I always tell my niece and nephew.... "Get to know your teachers!" It never hurts to have them know who you are...when they see your papers, etc... if helps if they can put a face to the name... |
I know, but I just loved her responses.
I actually, I love that professor. I once asked her what would be on the quiz and she did a little song and dance Quote:
But yeah, this girl once brought a bunch of candy to lab around Halloween and I asked her what it was. She just gives me this incredulously look and shake the bucket at me and I was like "I get that it's candy, but what KIND of candy." and she gives me the same look and says "Just name it." I'm like well fuck you too, bitch. ;\ It was so rude. Yes, getting to know the teachers is great. Luckily, I'm a very old soul so I end up having a lot in common with my professors. In high school I probably got a long better with my teachers. |
I think teachers appreciate students who talk with them.
At least then they know more about how their teaching is affecting other's lives... |
Yeah, I generally can keep pretty good relationships with teachers.
Sometimes, though, I just don't even bother. I had a philosophy teacher that was a total asshole. I didn't even bother getting to know him. He loved House (the show) and thought he WAS Gregory House. Such a friggin' pig. Insulting to. I think I mentioned something about my divorce and he tried to make a joke about it that wasn't funny at all. Ugh. |
Well, some people just aren't worth knowing...
But for the most part, the teachers like the kids... If they don't, then they have no business teaching! |

Jean - I agree.
HAHA. My high school English teacher didn't like kids. I mean younger kids like 2-5 years old. xD But she was the best teacher ever. She'd chaperon prom and bring ear plugs so she didn't have to hear "our" music. XD |
@ Jean : Starting pay, especially in my chosen career, isn't big at all. But I don't mind. I'm in it for the experience mostly. I mean, you can't get better training here in the Philippines than working with the country's leading newspaper, right? xDD;; <3<3
And what are indentured servants? o_o;; Also, we were only required recommendation letters for privately-owned universities. Same with essays. Guess private universities are a whole lot picker or something. ^^;; @ Estrella : Lulz. xDD;; How many do you need again anyway? =O <3<3 @ Rikali : Well, if it's a starting job or whatever, maybe you can branch out later on? :x <3<3 |
Two, I think Ry.
I wonder if they'll take one from my high school English teacher. I DID take Writing 120, 121 and Speech 111 with her. xD Luckily, they offered those colleges courses to us our senior year and I had them outta the way before I even started college. |
I suppose that working for the largest newspaper around there would be great experience!
Indentured service... about a step above slavery.... But not too much above slavery. It's where you're stuck working for somebody because you owe them...yet the wage you're being paid is not enough to pay off your debt. You're basically stuck working there, with no way out. |
sorry ry for not being around.
|
YOU LOOK SO FLUFFY.
*squishes Telstel* Every time I see something fluffy, I flash back to Despicable Me Quote:
|
Guess that's a movie that I never saw, Estrella!

I bet the whole world will be holding their breathe so much throughout that day, too. lol And just checked, and it appears to be December 21 that its said to happen. Not quite as close to Christmas, but my opinion still stands! :illgetu: |
So Rylynne needs a V-day belt, and I need to get rid of mine... I think we can work something out here. ;D
And what I mean by work something out, I mean just take it. :B |
Wow, Vixen...
Ry will love you forever! (Do you happen to have a Vday hairpin that you need to get rid of also?) lol... |
