Besides English, I'm fluent in Japanese, Arabic, and an Egyptian dialect of Arabic called "Ammiyya".
My French has dwindled from lack of use, so I don't include it...>_<
I want to learn Russian someday....

I can speak English, obviously.

I am conversational in American Sign Language, and I am semi-conversational in Spanish. I'm in Spanish 2 this semester (in College) and 3 semesters is considered proficient, and 4 semesters is considered fluent.

I speak English, a little Spanish, and a gibberish language.

Rumpus Ruu 02-01-2009 01:35 PM

I speak English and a bit of Spanish. Spanish it's mostly forced because of the area I live in seems to refuse to learn English. >>' And now I'm learning Japanese which is much easier than Spanish for me.

Limbo 02-01-2009 03:03 PM

Hiya Ruu-chan!

And I speak, lots and lots of Swedish, since that's where I live, but I also do speak allot of English.
Me and my friends speak to each other in both English and Japanese. Mostly for the fun of it, and for the sake of learning to actually speak it rather then just read it or understand what others are saying. It's really fun. And I was forced to learn either French or German in school too, so I studied German for three years. But I didn't really learn all that much. And I have taken some Chinese classes, but I dropped out, then I took Japanese, but, the teacher was always in such a hurry I dropped out there too. Learning more from watching anime then I did in Japanese class. Hahaha.

Pa-pancake 02-01-2009 03:27 PM

Hahaha... Well speaking, reading and writing are different so for the languages I speak. Egnlish obviously, as my first language. And I speak Malay pretty fluently as well since we were forced to learn it in school. A few Chinese dialects including, Cantonese and some Hakka. And Japanese when I don't feel shy? XD

Guivre 02-01-2009 06:58 PM

Well, English. I took French for many years in school, but it takes me a little bit to get back into it now if I have to actually make thoughts, lol. I still read French magazines but am not really keeping it up well. One problem is that, after taking it for two years in grade school, next, in junior high my French teacher was Haitian, and taught me weird crap. All I know is that my aunt wrinkled her nose and muttered someting about creole and I had to start ALL OVER in high school.

Bulgarian, being half Bulgarian. I don't speak it well, but I have a lot of the good concepts down and can read websites and do things like name a virtual wyvern the word for "fire" in Bulgarian. (See below.)

I have tourist level knowledge of Swedish. When I little my family lived with my Swedish great-grandfather, but my Swedish probably came from my mom or grandmother. I can read menus, captions, simple forms, etc.

Tamerthanthou 02-01-2009 07:17 PM

Alright, so I speak English, as I've lived in New York my entire life.
I've been learning Hebrew since I was in kindergarten... Although I'm still not that great at it, I was just in Israel two weeks ago and I managed alright.
I also learned Spanish for three years. I can read more Spanish than I can speak.

Kalium 02-01-2009 07:42 PM

I speak four, including my first language Turkish. The others are English, Russian and German.

The Wandering Poet 02-01-2009 07:48 PM

Tilly 02-01-2009 07:50 PM

Pretty sad, eh? My mom knows Spanish, Welsh, French and English and my brother knows Russian, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Arabic, French and English.

~sigh~

icekat311 02-01-2009 07:53 PM

liliipanda 02-01-2009 09:55 PM

I speak two languages; English and Italian. Of course, it's three if you count pig latin. :P I would love to learn real Latin, but my high school sadly dropped the course last year.

CherryKitty 02-01-2009 10:02 PM

I can speak English and Russian. My boyfriend speaks English and Portuguese fluently and because we didn't want his family to understand what we were saying on occasions when we visit them, we learned Russian. I love it, every bit of it. I must say, it was a smart choice of me to speak it. Sure, i don't know anyone who speaks it other then us, but it makes me feel more secure about my conversations. I can speak Spanish very well, but i think to many people know it, it would be as easy to get away with saying things XD

azurcandy 02-02-2009 12:38 AM
