Well, the companions would have numbers in chronological order, from the first. It wouldn't matter which doctor they were matched up with.

Question: Seeing that the Doctor's a time traveler and all, have they ever set it on earth in a different time period? Like, the companion is from a different time period, so that period is the 'base of operations'? I haven't thoroughly watched the original, so I'm not sure. Some of the costumes I've seen companions wear over extended periods would seem to suggest that.... but that could just be a 'fitting in' device.... or just a weird fashion choice (in keeping with the aesthetics of the original.) I recall one being from another planet though, I think. Oh I am not very well informed on this matter.

Don't feel bad, Biggles. I haven't seen much of the old series either. I've only gotten through the first storyline with Hartnell...don't really like him too much. Too cynical.

According to what I've heard my mom say, one of the old companions was an alien, yeah. But I think she looked just like a human? Or she was a human, but not from Earth. I'm not sure which.

Connielass 12-07-2010 05:57 AM

I think that was . . Oh, Leela, or something, was her name?

Dang I need to brush up on my Who trivia.

Cherry Who? 12-07-2010 06:03 AM

Something like that, yeah.

Cardinal Biggles 12-07-2010 06:10 AM

Yes, I think that was the name. And yes, she looked just like a human, just with a sort of amazonian approach to life.

TaiyoTsuki 12-07-2010 07:00 AM

I need a life!

Cardinal Biggles 12-07-2010 07:09 AM

We all do, sweetheart, we all do .-.

Cherry Who? 12-07-2010 08:01 AM

Me too. I have pipe dreams of having one someday, but... hell, it's just no fun to go out and do stuff all by yourself. I need to start pestering my boyfriend to consider getting a place with me sooner rather than later.

Was Leela the leather bikini girl?

ljosberinn 12-07-2010 09:35 AM

He's also had Time Lord companions - Susan, his grandchild, and there was at least one more, whose name I can't remember.. I've not seen her though so that's my excuse. I didn't get your question about different time periods though, Biggles? Different from.. what?

Edit: Ah, Romana, of course. According to wikipedia, she and Susan are the only Time Lords, but there are also Kamelion, Nyssa, Adric, Turlough, Astrid and K-9 of other races than human.

Cardinal Biggles 12-07-2010 06:18 PM

Different from the concurrent setting, i.e. the time when it was filmed.

Also, time lords can have names like Susan? I wasn't expecting that.

TaiyoTsuki 12-07-2010 08:27 PM

I HATE HOMEWORK!!!!! D:<

ljosberinn 12-08-2010 12:36 PM

Biggles, so.. I'm assuming you mean the companion being from a different time period? I somehow understood it as episodes happening in different time periods, but that would be way too obvious.. and I'm not sure about that. I think we need expertise from someone who's seen more of the older series..
And yeah, hah.. I bet the Doctor's actual name is something like Brian. :D

Connielass 12-08-2010 07:46 PM

What is this . . . "life" you speak of?

Or the Doctor's name could be Alfred.

Cherry Who? 12-09-2010 06:04 AM

I think the Doctor's name is Eleanor.

Halferty - Ooh, that looks like it just might be good. o:

TaiyoTsuki 12-09-2010 06:06 AM

Yay for Douglas Adams.
Just sayin'

Lost in Austen 12-09-2010 08:54 PM

Does anyone know why the Sherlock seasons are so short?

Cardinal Biggles 12-09-2010 09:26 PM

Well, British series are usually short, but three episodes is a bit skimpy. I figure it's because it was a first series? Plus, production costs.

Lost in Austen 12-09-2010 09:42 PM

Well, I heard that the next series (I said season earlier, just realized) will be three episodes as well. I know a lot of shows start out with only a few episodes, because they wanna see how it'll be received. So... hopefully that's all this is.
