For it's more like Gareth David-Lloyd
(and after that Naoko... )

Stallion Duck 08-14-2009 08:36 PM

I'm so happy, I finally found this hang out thread.
=D

@briannamal: John Barrowman... I wish he weren't gay! Such a waste! *le sigh*

KatMagenta 08-14-2009 08:41 PM

Hallo Stallion.

Heh, I think John Barrowman is too traditionally good looking for my weird tastes in men. XD

Insert_Witty_Username 08-14-2009 08:43 PM

I think he's quite fit, but if he asked me out I'd probably decline XD

ghostPastry 08-14-2009 08:58 PM

@Witty- I dunno that it's a waste... I'm sure he'lls make someing that lucky boy very very happy. xD
Ohhh, he sure is fit. (you guys and your silly British slang words! xP)
Same. I mean, he peed in Prince William's garden! xD (...was it William?)
(have y'all seen that episode of Would I Lie To You?)(It's a game show... sort of.)

KatMagenta 08-14-2009 09:10 PM

John is in a civil partnership with his partner of many years.
http://www.insidesocal.com/outinhollywood/abarrow.jpg
(I think he's better looking =P)

I love Would I Lie to You? but I'll watch anything with David Mitchell in it. Apart from Jam and Jerusalem. XD

We don't just talk about the Doctor, we talk about everyone who's in a Who spin-off show.
Lately there's been a lot of talk about Torchwood . . . Which I've only seen one episode of... and I can't see anything else because I don't get BBC channel...

::cries against the fates::

I've heard of Torchwood...Haven't seen it tho'. I've been looking on YouTube for it, but the dang site won't work! :-x
AND it's not showing on PBS! It's driving me insane!

ghostPastry 08-15-2009 06:14 AM

@Kat- Sssssshut up, I knew that! Seeee? *points to last post which is not edited*
Who, the partner or John? (personally, I think it's the former. ^_^)
Is... David Mitchell the host?

Connielass 08-15-2009 06:18 AM

Taiyo, far as I can tell, it's not showing on US channels at all, except for BBC America.
If you get that channel, then I am really jealous of you.

Insert_Witty_Username 08-15-2009 09:50 AM

I feel really lucky to be British right now ^_^ Although I rarely watch TV any way...

ljosberinn 08-15-2009 12:06 PM

I think Barrowman is charming, but definitely not my type. He's too pretty-boy-handsome and perfect, really. I'd probably feel way too intimidated by him to be with him.

I also think it's silly we're using both threads to talk about essentially the same things. xD But I'm happy the new people from the event thread are coming here, I was afraid we'd lose them otherwise. : )

Insert_Witty_Username 08-15-2009 12:47 PM

I actually really want to watch DW now.. maybe I'll see if I can rent the series at some point *ponders*

KatMagenta 08-15-2009 01:55 PM

briannamal: Heh, we shall agree to disagree on that one I think.
David Mitchell is the captain of the team who sit on the left hand side of the set. Mitchell and Webb are one of my favourite comedy acts. Angus Deayton (formally of Have I Got News for You?) was the host of the first series but Rob Brydon hosts it now.

Oh, I'm reading Neil Gaiman's book about Douglas Adams and I didn't realise how much impact Adams had on his time working for Doctor Who. I knew about the stories he'd written but I didn't realise as script editor he would have had creative input on the scripts. Apparently neither did he before he took the job. XD

ghostPastry 08-15-2009 08:46 PM

@Kat- Ahaha, well, I think they're both rather fit. x3
Ah, okay. I like him. ^_^

That sounds way cool!

@ljos- I looked at this thread and didn't realize it was the event thread and was all "Wow, the conversations are exactly the same! xD;;

Chaitealatte 08-16-2009 07:51 PM

*tip-toes in and pounces on Ljos* > w<

I am SO tempted to buy Children of Earth, but I'm doing my best to save money (they have it on sale in the BBC shop in Brighton * w*)~

I really didn't watch the clip of David kissing John, John pretending to swoon, then kissing Russle so he wouldn't feel left out twice, I really didn't. > >; (It was so sweet - you can tell they must have a lot of fun on set.)

ljosberinn 08-16-2009 08:03 PM

Lauren! Ohmigosh, I thought you quit for good! :D

That sounds adorable, where is it?

Chaitealatte 08-17-2009 10:45 AM

I have, sort of - it's not like I have any items or will be on regularly. But since my usual haunt is struggling... *shrugs* >w<

Mm, it's probably possible to find it on Youtube/google video.

And ohohoh:

Ignore the unrelated bits at the bottom - I brought Jack a Ianto. P:

KatMagenta 08-17-2009 01:18 PM

Ah, so much Brideshead Revisited love. <3
Possibly the best ever television adaptation of a (by itself amazing) book.

I only have the first new Who DVD myself, but in the big TARDIS box.

ljosberinn 08-17-2009 05:13 PM

Aww haha, adorable figures. :D

I think I read Brideshead Revisited at school but because it was at school I automatically didn't like it. And probably didn't even read all of it. I would love to see it on screen though, the book is already on my to-read list, but if I know myself correctly, it'll be a good while before I actually sit down and read it.

I have all those pretty box sets though. <3 I am in need of a sonic screwdriver though..
And for some reason, when I do the "]", it comes out as "°]". Strange.

KatMagenta 08-17-2009 07:08 PM

Brideshead Revisited took me a couple of attempts to get into but when I did I really enjoyed it. It was the first book in my 50 book challenge. ^^
Buying a pretty copy for myself helped...
(that's a 50's copy, hence the state of it, not one of those new Penguin ones pretending to be old)

Strange, I googled Brideshead Revisited because I was curious about when it was first published and I found a few articles like this from this month. There's a tl;dr version from the Mail floating about too, but I think they miss the point.

I saw a great banner on Gaia for their event. It said something like "Science Camp: Because we think everything needs to be more sonic!". XD

Sadly, I don't get BBC America. I wish it'd show on PBS like Doctor Who does! True, they'd all be reruns for the people in England, but for us here in the US they'd be all new episodes!

It's either that or hope to the gods that YouTube works at the library again. It's been driving me insane!

Connielass 08-17-2009 07:48 PM

My PBS doesn't get it.
The Sci-Fi channel had been airing Dr Who when I first found it.
Other than that, not a single other channel that I get has had it.

Chaitealatte 08-17-2009 10:01 PM

Rose doesn't stand-up very well, and took a dive off my bookshelf for no reason other than I moved at the opposite side of the room.

You should totally give Brideshead another go. xD Or else, when I next see you (fingers-crossed!) we can watch the drama. With MY Aloysius. Cx

*waves at Kat* Hullo. : )

KatMagenta 08-17-2009 11:22 PM

Hey Chai. Rose has always been a little over dramatic. =P

Have you seen the Brideshead Revisited film? I know it decides to rewrite the story entirely but I'm still curious.
