You might be able to have a tailor let it out some for you. Depends on how much excess fabric is in the seams, though.

KatMagenta 04-14-2011 10:22 PM

I ordered the Procrastinate t-shirt in large because they said women's sizes run small so I'm hoping it's a good fit. The joys of having to wear 'large' women's clothing when some of the band shirts I've bought as being for women are actually boys shirts aged 9-11.

Perhaps you could make something out of the shirt if you're sure you won't be able to wear it again, Lost. Like sew the design part onto another piece of clothing or a canvas bag or some such.

Lost in Austen 04-14-2011 10:30 PM

Yeah, I thought of making a bag out of it or something. ^_^

Does anyone else share my opinion that the BBC needs to stop the "Doctor Who is in AMERICA!!!!!!1one!!" hype? It just seems like every few days they've got a new set of "Omg guys, we filmed in Utah, which, as you know, is in AMERICA!" promo pics.

I feel a Mormon adventure coming on. Maybe the Doctor can explain how magnets work.

Lost in Austen 04-15-2011 12:40 AM

Wait, what?

F*cking Magnets, How Do They Work? | Know Your Meme

On a side note, but strangely kind of in the same vein, How. Is. The. Insane. Clown. Posse. Even. A. Thing?
Seriously, I can not make that work in my mind. And this is a mind that thrives on cognitive dissonance and the like. WAT?

Lost in Austen 04-15-2011 12:49 AM

What does that have to do with Mormonism, though?

P.S. I often find myself wondering, "F*cking internet memes, how do they start?"

Cardinal Biggles 04-15-2011 01:01 AM

I'm studying memes at the moment, if you hadn't guessed 8D
To answer your question, apparently one of the sub-branches of that meme is pestering Mormons online with that question.

Related.... Loooook at this!

Another character who has received this treatment from fans is a brown male pony with an hourglass mark. Fans have named this character “Doctor Whoof”, in reference to the popular British sci-fi series, “Doctor Who”. Fans have even went through the episodes to find instances where this “My Little Time Lord”, showed up and use it as evidence of his time traveling ability. Fanart of this character often shows him leaving a “Time And Relative Dimensions In Space” machine, or a TARDIS, a time traveling device used in “Dr. Who”.
Forgive me if you've already seen that. The concept of meme, though ever so popular, is not something that I have been good about observing.

If you mean why is it being used as a meme, that would be because the line is so gleefully and unabashedly ignorant with no desire to learn, that people find it hilariously stupid.

If you mean why did ICP write it in the first place, or why the band exists... That I can't tell you.

Relevant article.

Cardinal Biggles 04-15-2011 03:15 AM

Why does it exist, let alone resonate with people. WHY?!!?!?

Cherry Who? 04-15-2011 04:39 AM

It resonates with people in the way that a really cheesy sci fi movie resonates with people. It's really terrible and fun to laugh at for that. It exists because some unfortunate souls looked at it and thought "Oh. My. God. This is genius right here."

Cardinal Biggles 04-15-2011 05:49 AM

That's the thing.... There are enough that think it's genius to keep it going. Intellectually, rationally, I know there are people like that in the world. But ever other part of me rails against that, refusing to believe that those folks don't even have a modicum of good taste and sense...

Cherry Who? 04-15-2011 06:32 AM

Yeah... ICP has some pretty hardcore fans. I was actually discussing them earlier when my cousin told me he was listening to ICP. Nearly disowned him before he explained that he doesn't take them very seriously. Phew.

But back to jellyfish matters... Yeah, the America hype is getting a little annoying. It was cool and mildly exciting at first, but... okay, that's enough now. :gonk: Really, they've set a lot of episodes in America before, this is just the first time they've filmed here. But it's not really going to make that much of a difference to anyone who isn't intimately familiar with Utah. Although I suppose there aren't that many deserts in England.

Lost in Austen 04-15-2011 07:29 PM

Monument Valley is beautiful, nobody can deny that.
But I just find the hype annoying.

I should really stop complaining though, considering that I'm also the person who always pokes fun at the writers for making nearly every story center around London somehow.

Cherry Who? 04-15-2011 07:34 PM

Yeah, that's kind of funny, why do aliens ALWAYS land in London? But that's a common trope... not with London necessarily, but "the entire universe is obsessed with [country the thing is made in]" I mean, as it is, that everything happens on Earth so much is ridiculous considering that at this point in history we're supposed to be the equivalent of drooling toddlers.

Lost in Austen 04-15-2011 07:52 PM

Mmhmm. A lot of scifi's defend themselves by saying "Earth is so primitive that it's easy to invade." Which makes sense, I guess. But surely there are much MORE primitive planets they could be invading. XD

Cherry Who? 04-15-2011 08:47 PM

Earth is kind of a Mary Sue.

Lost in Austen 04-16-2011 01:02 AM

Yes! I couldn't have said it better myself.

Requires less imagination 'n stuff.

I FINALLY FOUND THE THREAD AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lost in Austen 04-16-2011 02:42 PM

Hey Taiyo, welcome back! ^_____^

I don't remember who it was who said they were slightly less excited than usual about Doctor Who this year, but I'm starting to think I agree with them. It's not Matt Smith's or Steven Moffat's fault, though. I'm just a bit more tied up with real-life problems to be as easily swept up in a fantasy world as I generally am. :/

Hopefully by this time next year, though, I'll be able to be caught up in it again. I miss that!

(Not going to say Karen Gillian, although I know that's her real name. But she's just playing a part, she can't help the fact that her character's ANNOYING.)

ljosberinn 04-16-2011 05:15 PM

I'm more excited about this new series than I was about the last.. but then there was the change of Doctors, I had no idea what Matt Smith was going to be like (and had massive doubts and prejudices). For this series, I know I like him, and I think the trailer looks very promising.

...but then again, maybe I'm just excited to have another excuse for a bit of escapism from the massive ball of anxiety that is my life right now. @[email protected]

Cherry Who? 04-16-2011 05:24 PM

Doctor who is great for escapism, yes.

Lost in Austen 04-16-2011 08:18 PM

Aye, that it is. I'm hoping it'll work this time, though. :/

Well, I agree that Amy's a shit character.. but didn't really want to say it.
I mean, at least Rose, however annoying, wasn't always tryin' to rape the Doctor.

TaiyoTsuki 04-16-2011 09:18 PM

Why were you trying to rape the Doctor?!
