Cherry Who? 04-28-2011 03:48 AM

It's the prince... The royal family's very important, it kind of is a big deal... It's something fun and happy for people to get excited about.

Lost in Austen 04-28-2011 09:46 PM

I can see both sides of it. I mean, yeah, he's royalty, so that makes this one of those "fairy tale weddings" that seems to enchant so many people, even many of us Americans. But at the same time, I'm thinking of how little power a British queen/king even has anymore. I mean, a royal wedding would have been much more important if it took place in the Middle Ages.

Cherry Who? 04-28-2011 10:09 PM

Oh, I didn't mean important in terms of power, I meant more as figures.

Lost in Austen 04-28-2011 10:12 PM

Yeah, I just meant that it's just basically all about tradition these days, so why all the fuss over someone's wedding if they're not even a powerful political figure? I'll probably never be able to fully understand people's fascination with royalty. It's similar to the way I don't care about what type of dress Michelle Obama is wearing to such-and-such with so-and-so. They're just people, not super heroes or something. XD

Cardinal Biggles 04-28-2011 10:14 PM

Well, society tends to gravitate towards the shallow, on the whole. That's why the piffling, shiny details get so much attention.

Lost in Austen 04-28-2011 10:16 PM

Yep, that sounds about right.

Well, they're certainly more interesting than Snooki.

colorsbold 04-30-2011 01:11 AM

Oh, my goodness, is everyone welcome here?
Because I'm new. But I was humming the Doctor Who themesong to myself while giving piggy-back rides to a 3 year old today for... oh... an hour?-- before I realized what I was doing.

And I like fezzes. Fezzes are cool. :)

----------

Ooooh--- and Neil Gaiman wrote an episode of this season's Dr. Who! Neil. Gaiman. Handsome sci-fi author-creature-of-my-dreams. Oh, yes.

Thought I'd mention that too.

Hello everyone.
If I mention that I know zilch about the royal wedding, can I be your mascot? I'm bouncy and I aim to please. :glomp::heart:

Cherry Who? 04-30-2011 03:28 AM

No, we only allow in time lords, sorry.

Of course you're welcome! :)

Which Doctor Who theme song is your favorite?

zeapear 04-30-2011 04:41 AM

O:
Today, me and my sister were watching the 'Impossible Astronaut' again, and we may have a lead....

SPOILERX

We think the painter in the veeeeerry beginning was the person who painted 'The Scream', and she saw one of the amnesia alien-y things and painted it. It's not a very good lead, I know, but it makes sense if you think about it...

EDIT: Nevermind, the Scream was painted by a man...

Lost in Austen 04-30-2011 04:48 AM

colorsbold: Welcome! You seem like a lovely person to talk to!

zeapear: That was a pretty good theory, though!!

Cardinal Biggles 04-30-2011 04:48 AM

Yeah, Edvard Munch was born too late to have been part of that escapade as well...
But it could very well be that the mask and/or nature of the creature was inspired by said painting!

zeapear 04-30-2011 05:04 AM

I guess so...

Cardinal Biggles 04-30-2011 05:06 AM

Don't be so bashful. Clever connecting the two! It's really got me thinking now.

zeapear 04-30-2011 05:08 AM

It was actually my sister who first came up with the idea xD I had almost no part in it.

Cardinal Biggles 04-30-2011 05:09 AM

Well, a fine pair of sisters, then ^_^
weren't you the one who came up with the Dr. Song as TARDIS theory? My memory seems to suggest that.

zeapear 04-30-2011 05:11 AM

No... I thought that was Lost O_o
But yeah, My sister is good at making connections xD Me? I just watch the episodes as they come and don't really think about them...

Cardinal Biggles 04-30-2011 05:12 AM

My apologies to Lost, then.

Lost in Austen 04-30-2011 05:13 AM

I might have been the one who posted it, yeah. But I heard the theory from one of my non-Menewshan friends. Not sure where she got it. But it is an awesome theory.

(Not entirely sure how it would work out, though. I mean, now that we've seen that clip of River kissing the Doctor in the Series 6 trailer. ugh.)

zeapear 04-30-2011 05:15 AM

Yeah, that was excessively odd... But, I do wonder who she is...

colorsbold 04-30-2011 05:16 AM

Oooh. I'm a padawan here. I have so far been through seasons 1-3, season 5, and the beginning of season 6. I'm missing an entire season-- no guesses about Dr. River Song yet. :)

Cherry Flavored Antacid: I don't know which is my favorite! I'll have to compare. I was humming the closing theme to Tennant's season 3 today, though.

Often I want people to discuss with when I get caught up in the Doctor. Or when I watch any episode that includes the Angels and desperately need a hand to hold. Thank you all for being so welcoming! :)

zeapear 04-30-2011 05:18 AM

Lost in Austen 04-30-2011 05:18 AM

WIN.

colors: Nice use of the word padawan. I know I'm going to like you!

zeapear 04-30-2011 05:19 AM

There was also one with Matt Smith as the Doctor edited into the crowd, but I liked that one more xD

Cardinal Biggles 04-30-2011 05:21 AM

So it's not real? :gonk:

Cherry Who? 04-30-2011 05:21 AM

Niiiice.

Colors - Aww, but season 4 is the best! Donna's the best companion ever. Be sure to see that one when you get the chance. :)
