Nope, not if it's on BBCAmerica. I don't get that channel.
But aside from Waters of Mars, I was talking about the Christmas special. |
Hmm... well, do you get Syfy or whatever they call it now?
|
Yeah, but no guarantees that they'll be able to show it this year.

Hello Dr.Who fans! I just followed your thread from the Halloween section and now I'm sad I haven't found this tread earlier.
I actually haven't seen the new actor for the new Doctor... What are we on now? The 12th or the 13th doctor? Not really sure and I just pulled those numbers off the top of my head. i do have a little confession to make, I did write an extremely long E-mail to BBC trying to get them to make David Hewlett from SGA into the new Doctor. I think he would be incredibly funny. However, the shoes left by Tennent are probably too large to fill as he brought an immense amount of energy and wacky-ness to the show that would be hard or impossible to replicate. I'm really not sure if i'll watch the new doctor who if it all goes downhill from Tennent. I'll try, but if it doesn't deliver... EDIT: Eeep... I just realized that I only read the first page and there are like 40 of them here... so i'm probably way off topic. Sorry guys |
Matt Smith is coming in 2010 to be the 11th Doctor.
Speaking of shoes, noticed 11 wears some kind of black work-boots or something. No more converse. *ish sad* But on the bright side, his new companion, Amy, wears bright red converse sneakers! Yay!!! |

Admittedly, the individual actor does bring a certain kind of energy with him, but in the case of the Dr Who show, it's as much about the writers as it is about the actor. The writers and the actor combined to make one riveting and addictive show, so I was all too happy to join the fanclub. But I've been given the assumption that every time the Doctor changes, the entire crew changes, including writers and producers. Apparently the new writer is more into creating horror and a moody (perhaps brooding?) Doctor, versus the wackiness of the former writer. We shall see. |
Who is the new writer, anyway? I heard it was Stephen Moffat. If so, then yes, he writes darker stories than RTD. I really will miss RTD's crazy lighthearted stories. But not all the filler episodes he wrote. *shudders*
|
Yes, it'll be Moffat.
Not sure I'm looking forward to him writing with an alleged emo Doctor. I can't seem to get a confirmation on just what kind of a Doctor Smith will be. One critic says he's too emo to suit Tennant fans, and another says he carries over Ten's quirkiness and a bit of his sense of humor. I don't know what to make of it. |
Alleged, yes. We don't know what Smith's Doctor will be like, just yet. In the promotional pics he looks pretty darn emo. But if you watch the interviews on the behind the scenes clips (you can find parts of it on youtube), he looks quirky and fun. I love the one where he goes "It's exciting.... exciting.... nerve-wracking.... but exciting. Stops your sleeping." heehee! Especially with the whole finger-waggling thing, it's funny. ^__^
|
I saw one interview, but he seemed pretty calm.
Overwhelmed, just a tad, by the shoes he has to fill. (which, I must admit, was gratifying to my inner Ten fangirl) But over-all, more calm and reflective, as he thought about the transition from Ten to Eleven, and trying desperately not to give away secrets about what's in store for Eleven. |
Yeah! It must be so hard for them to have to keep everything so very top-secret, heheh.
Ten fangirl, are you? Well at least I'm not the only one. lol <3 |
Honestly, it's hard for me to imagine who would'nt be a Ten fangirl.
But then, considering Ten is the first and only Doctor I've ever seen... it's not that hard for me to think like that. |
First and only? So you haven't even watched any of the Nine episodes?
|
If you mean Chris whatsisname, yes.
Yes I did. And he made a sorry Doctor. So sorry that I'd forgotten about him until you reminded me. He's a good actor. Just not a Doctor. |
Hmm. Well I can kind of see where you're coming from, as a Tennant fangirl myself, but I did like Christopher Eccleston's portayal of the Doctor, since even though he isnt my favorite, he was my first Doctor. (Tom Baker doesnt exactly count, cuz I was so young then, as i said earlier)
His northern accent was... well, weird.... especially when youre used to DT with all his "well"s and "Ohyes!" type of stuff. And he also brooded too much. But they say that was because of the fact that he was still getting over losing Gallifrey and whatnot. And I can understand that. |
Yeh, I think that was part of it, the brooding-ness. Not so appealing to me.
Ten's upbeat attitude is vastly appealing to me. Upbeat? Perhaps 'realistic' is the better word. |
Realistic? I dont think so. I mean, I happen to know a guy whose natural disposition resembles that of Nine. And I don't know anyone who reminds me of Ten. (Much to my dismay. lol)
|
I don't know, he just had an over-all more appealing attitude toward life.
He was hopeful where there was cause for hope, angry where anger was right, never seemed to look too far ahead when danger was present . . . ::shrug:: But I guess it does explain Nine's attitude, if he was still getting over the loss of Gallifrey. |
Lots of planets have a North.
(so watch it with the weird, h'okay?) I like both Nine and Ten for different reasons. Horses for courses, I suppose. 'Finger-waggling' you say? |

Yeah, where did you find that icon? I'd like to add it to my random sig, if thats okay. ^__^
|
|
I almost cried when Nine regenerated into Ten. "Who is this 'new teeth' guy? He's horrible!" I thought. But just look at me now, haha.
|
|
I saved that icon and another one I saw on livejournal not long after the first interview where Matt Smith was revealed to be the 11th Doctor. When I was active on LJ I was in a couple of Torchwood communities. ^^;
