aww I've wanted to go to a con but they don't seem to have any further North then New York City :S and I'm to much of a fraidy-cat to go into NYC by myself

Cardinal Biggles 08-17-2011 10:17 AM

@ Pat: Yeah, the follow up posts I saw said that karen and arthur are both going to be in it again, but in a diminished capacity. I also heard billie piper was going to make an appearance.

ljosberinn 08-17-2011 10:20 AM

Crow, I hope you'll be alright, thanks for warning us. My positive thoughts are with you!

Biggles, hmm, I wonder how that will work out.. and Billie Piper? Seriously? They were all like 'no she's locked away in another dimension there's no way there' and then 'oh, it opened, but now it is definitely locked for good, never to open again!' ... I wonder how they'll open it up this time. ô.õ

Cardinal Biggles 08-17-2011 10:24 AM

well, maybe it won't be an interaction with the Doctor, but rather a vignette of what's going on in that dimension? Though I have to admit, I'd like to see rose and eleven interacting.

ljosberinn 08-17-2011 11:04 AM

I wouldn't.. I feel like when he regenerated as 11, he finally really got over Rose, as well as really making an effort to get over all the pain caused by the Time War. If they met again, I'm afraid it would just tear up the old wounds. :/

Moxie 08-17-2011 01:15 PM

ljos- I totally agree with you. I think the 10th Doctor wanted to go on, but in choosing to move on (regenerate) he also made the decision to let go of the past. I think that is why he meddled with time and the lives of his friends before the end. It was hid way of letting go.

ljosberinn 08-17-2011 02:13 PM

Exactly. The fifth season was meant as a completely new start, both for the Doctor and the viewers, what with Moffat taking over as head writer and everything. It would just feel strange if any of the regular companions of ten would come back, especially Rose. :/

Cherry Who? 08-18-2011 12:09 AM

Rose? That'll be interesting. I wonder if that also means we'll get a bit of Tennant? As 10's clone was with her last we saw, you know.

Cardinal Biggles 08-18-2011 01:31 AM

I'm just rather interested to see how Rose would react to the Doctor's current persona.

LonelyOtaku97 08-18-2011 04:44 AM

Hm I think she'd laugh >.< hes just very very likeable.

Cherry Who? 08-18-2011 07:04 AM

Maybe he's not angsty enough for her. :P

I had something pointed out to me today and I sort of wish I hadn't because it's tainting the 5th and 6th seasons for me.

SPOILERX

Moffat is kind of beating a few dead horses with all his repetitive jokes. Amy's hot, [blank]s are cool, Rory has a funny nose, TARDIS is sexy, etc. When it's pointed out all in one lump like that I started to see that it's getting... a lot of dumb jokes. Stop that, Moffat, you write good stories, I like you more than I ever liked RTD, so just stop that.

The_Crow 08-18-2011 12:59 PM

I'm not dead, but I've started the regeneration process just in case.

After four weeks of making myself vulnerable to an ex who came out of nowhere, being ditched and ignored, only to forgive them, only for them to stab my weak PTSD spots and not even apologize... for four weeks... the yo yo... I couldn't take it.

To make this Doctor Who related, I'm sharing one of my favourite Doctor and Master DW Fan Music Videos. Guess who wanted a long lasting and healing relationship while getting the other to THINK about what they were doing and guess who was the power-crazy sociopath?

FireOnix 08-18-2011 04:38 PM

nice video. there are some pretty screwed up people out there...

LonelyOtaku97 08-18-2011 10:19 PM

That was a good video I though it was made by lady solique for a second

Lost in Austen 08-18-2011 10:46 PM

I'd really rather not have Rose come back, yet again. She was great while she was here, but if she returns for a third time it'll just be like they're making her out to be a much more important character than she's meant to be. I mean, just imagine how it'll explode the fanfictions! There are already enough people out there who believe that Rose is the Doctor's one and only soul mate. Which, in my opinion anyway, is ridiculous. -sigh-

The return of Donna, Martha, Mickey, or Jack would be welcome, though. :XD

LonelyOtaku97 08-18-2011 10:49 PM

Hm maybe someday they will bring the companions back. Donna can't return if she remembers anything she will die.

Lost in Austen 08-18-2011 10:50 PM

They could find a way around that, I'm sure. Doctor Who exceeds at finding ways around those sort of obstacles. lol.

LonelyOtaku97 08-18-2011 10:54 PM

Oh yeah thats true.

Cherry Who? 08-19-2011 12:34 AM

Bringing Donna back would be my dream come true, provided it's explained well enough. I've skipped the last round or two of "who's your favorite doctor/companion/etc." because I feel I've said it all enough already and don't want to be repetitive, but for those just joining...

CHERRY :heart:S DONNA FOREVER.

The_Crow 08-19-2011 01:01 AM

I think Captain Jack Harkness was the best tertiary resident of the TARDIS. Of course The Doctor always has a cute, contemporary to the show's running time, Earth girl as his primary companion, but unlike all the 'primary,' companions Jack being from the 51st century had knowledge that was amazingly useful and helpful to both the Doctor and the other companions. Additionally, now with his "super special skill" of not dying, and the doctor's change in perception of him based on his childhood nickname (semi spoiler, you know what I'm talking about if you do). Captain Jack was the first person to be given a THIRD tardis key, and also in the NuWho when Captain Jack came back the second time he was the first person to have a third name in the opening credits.

Lost in Austen 08-19-2011 01:13 AM

Crow, have you watched Torchwood: Miracle Day?

The_Crow 08-19-2011 01:17 AM

@Lost in Austen- Yes, I am watching it, 5 episodes in so far? Or has it been six? Starting to get at the point where it's harder to keep track. I wish it was more condensed like Children of Earth but I do enjoy it. I also keep thinking to myself "I bet the Doctor could fix this... but this isn't his show!"

LonelyOtaku97 08-19-2011 02:56 AM

I do need to watch torchwood miracle day.

Cardinal Biggles 08-19-2011 04:02 AM

I've been thinking that I'd like to see a male companion. There's always the women in the TARDIS in NuWho, and I'd like to see the formula shaken up.

ljosberinn 08-19-2011 12:43 PM

I agree it would be nice to see a primary companion who's male. Although Amy and Rory are getting to be on fairly equal ground now, Amy was still the first and Rory came along later on. But perhaps the producers want to keep things equal to keep it from becoming a sausage fest.. >.> Also I guess it would be easy to fall into an equality trap if the primary, "stronger-character" companion was male and the female companion was kind of "on the side" (like if you would reverse Amy and Rory's characters).. I bet it would not be popular with a lot of female fans of Doctor Who.

Then again, I would also love to see a female regeneration of the Doctor, and then we could definitely have a primary male companion. x3
