Eccleston was the one who got me into Doctor Who. He was really but more people like Tennant even Smith has a hard time because of Tennant however I like all 3.

Lost in Austen 02-09-2012 01:20 AM

I don't think I could choose a least favorite out of the three. They all made me laugh and cry, and the ONLY reason I'd have for choosing Nine would be that he stuck around to make me laugh and cry for the least amount of time... However, I don't consider that a very legitimate reason; the duration of his role has nothing to do with the quality of his role! So, no least favorite, sorry. I do, however, have a favorite, which is Ten. Ain't nothin' changin' that! :XD

LonelyOtaku97 02-09-2012 01:22 AM

Nine was my first doctor he was just....amazing. I mean he had those moments were he smiled and he had moments were he was serious. There was just something really nice about. The thing is that 10 is the most proper doctor and Tennant was really good. Even Smith isn't as popular as 10.

Lost in Austen 02-09-2012 01:44 AM

That's true, but hey, someone may yet replace Ten as the most popular. Remember that for the longest time it was Tom Baker, before David Tennant claimed first place!

LonelyOtaku97 02-09-2012 01:45 AM

Yeah Tom really stole the spotlight when it came to Doctor Who.

Cardinal Biggles 02-09-2012 05:06 AM

is it official that tennant is more popular than baker? Because... I find that hard to believe. Baker is still obviously in the hearts of many.

LonelyOtaku97 02-09-2012 01:14 PM

I'm not sure when I looked at a poll I think he was however I could always look again lol.

According to three recent internet polls, yes. I don't know what an "official" source would be in this case, since it's fan-based. I mean, I didn't hear it from the BBC, but I heard it from various polls on different fan communities, and in my opinion that's official enough...

Cherry Who? 02-10-2012 07:12 AM

Another thing to consider, though, is that the old Baker fans may not really be actively participating in the fan community. If you asked my mother (or my grandfather, for that matter) who her favorite Doctor was, she'd say Baker, but she's not participating in the fan community, she wouldn't be voting in those polls. I suspect that, due to how long ago Baker played the role, this is true of many Baker fans.

The_Crow 02-10-2012 10:52 AM

The rest of you guys aren't answering the second part of my question! tsk tsk... Whovians can go on endlessly about who their favourite or least favourite doctor is, but I wanted you all to actually think about your least favourite doctor, and still pick your top three episodes with him.

Cherry- Thank you for answering my question  I really like The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances as well. Some of the most hillarious banter before Donna, yet the elation when Nine realised that just this once "Everybody Lives!", and despite all the horrors of the time war... it took him a while but he finally remembered how to dance :)

Also RTD was a genius at subtle arcs in my opinion. Even in re-watching the fourth series, as early as pompeii the girl who breathed the smoke told Donna "There's something on your back!" all leading up to the importance of the metacrisis. Also in the seemingly standalone episode where the doctor and donna split up and a creature infects a woman and Ten starts rambling one of the phrases he says is 'Medusa Cascade'... not to mention all the less subtle flashes and appearances of Rose.

Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways just shows how strong Rose is and how important she is in 'healing' Nine into Ten and making him a better person. Nine never once spoke the name of his home planet, let alone described it. Ten was healING but had his moments... but Eleven... is just running.

Anyone notice how in the very beginning... the very first doctor's regeneration happened due to age, but after that the next few were taken as punishments by the Time Lords... yet in NuWho each time the Doctor has regenerated, he has done so to die in place of a companion... First Rose, the Wilfred.

I'm really curious to see how Eleven reacts to The Master and/or Captain Jack Harkness (I think both characters are fantastic and would be delighted for them to return).

---

P.S. Five is my favourite Classic Who Doctor. Also, with all the advanced technology and whatnot, does anyone else find it ironic that The Doctor and The Master always got into swordfights in Classic Who? They are such like squabbling, competitive siblings, so many times one could so easily actually kill the other... but that's never the been the true aim.

That's true. I suppose there's no way to really know for sure who the majority of fans like best. I mean, aside from finding all their addresses and sending out letters. xD

Saw some of these in a charity shop today and had a bit of giggle. The 'Eggsterminator' egg cup.

Doctor Who’s Day Roundup: To Boldly Go Where No Doctor Has Gone Before | Posts | Anglophenia | BBC America

People are making jokes about putting Rory in a red shirt.

Cherry Who? 02-14-2012 11:15 PM

Kat - Oh dear, for a second I thought that was something else entirely.

Biggles - I've seen mention of that around the net... Can't say I'm happy about it. :/

Akrasiat 02-15-2012 01:57 PM

Sometimes I feel like a poser for having watched almost none of Classic Who. D:

But my favorite Doctor would have to be Christopher Eccleston's. Less weeping and schmoopy romantic subplots, and I like his minimalist fashion sense.

KatMagenta 02-15-2012 05:31 PM

If they draw any comparisons between the Doctor and Q I will make a strange high pitched noise and frighten and confuse the people around me. Poor Jean-Luc.

Lost in Austen 02-16-2012 11:59 PM

Aw, I'm kinda disappointed it's not the original series with Captain Kirke--- I would have really liked to see Spock's reaction to the Doctor's mad antics!

Cherry: What skirt is your avvie wearing? It looks really cool!

Cherry Who? 02-17-2012 01:24 AM

Akrasiat - I haven't seen any classic Who either.

Lost - It's one of the slinky skirts from the last event. :)

Cinderellax 02-17-2012 10:11 AM

So, I'm kinda new around here (literally, less than an hour old :D) but I have to say that it's nice to meet other Whovians! ....before today, I didn't even know us Doctor Who fans had a name!

My fave doctor totally has to be Christopher Eccleston - I loved his slightly darker, more intense version of the Doctor. Although I have to say, Matt Smith is a very close second, I love the range of emotions his version of the Doctor has, makes him seem almost human.....>.> I nearly typed huggable there.....eh, he is huggable too. :D

And as for least fave, I really couldn't choose - although the older series was a little too cheesy for my taste - and I despised Donna, her voice makes me think of nails on a chalkboard.

Cherry Who? 02-17-2012 07:21 PM

David Tennant is going to do some voice acting on a new children's show.

Cinderallax - Welcome to Menewsha, the thread, and Whovianism!

Aww, I loved Donna. :(

KatMagenta 02-17-2012 08:07 PM

Tree Fu Tom sounds cute. My cat's sister was called Twigs but she wasn't an acorn sprite. She was a cat.

After listening to characters like Lauren and Nan on The Catherine Tate Show her normal speaking voice is far preferable. But I might be biased because I loved Donna too. XD

Cherry Who? 02-17-2012 08:14 PM

I've said it before, but I'll say it again: Donna was my favorite companion, followed by Martha. They're both very strong and independent. Also Donna's just funny.

Lost in Austen 02-18-2012 12:45 AM

Oh my god, Lauren Cooper is so annoying! But she's just an exaggeration of that one girl we all went to high school with. :XD

AM I BOVVERED THO?

Cherry Who? 02-18-2012 02:53 AM

I think the sketches are funny, but then, I've never had to deal with a real Lauren. So I ain't bovvered, I suppose.

LonelyOtaku97 02-18-2012 03:26 AM

Speaking of which Catherine Tate was on The Office last night.
