Cherry Who? 09-01-2012 05:14 PM

Is that you, Crow, or a friend?

The_Crow 09-01-2012 08:11 PM

'Tis me, Cherry. Don't mind the pileof blankets that compose my bed or the Vampire Hunter D wallscroll.

KatMagenta 09-01-2012 09:49 PM

Heh, if you swapped your wallscroll with Otaku's new poster it would be more in keeping. :P

Looking good anyways! That certainly is a very nice coat.

The_Crow 09-01-2012 10:06 PM

I know I look young, but Sam (Jared Padalecki) from Supernatural has a 'baby face' too, so I don't feel quite so bad.

Cherry Who? 09-01-2012 10:42 PM

Nice cosplay! And yeah, I've got a baby face too. People are always shocked that I'm not a teenager. Like at a dermatologist appointment the other day a nurse was asking me how long I'd been having these symptoms and I said "since puberty" and she asked how many years that had been, I said around 8, and she turned to me and was like "WHAT? NO WAY." [lol]

cuppycake_geek 09-02-2012 04:48 AM

OH god my feels all these feels from tonight there is no cure oh my!

Cherry Who? 09-02-2012 05:26 AM

Augh, yes, too many feels. [gonk] I! And they! With the! And! She! But!

cuppycake_geek 09-02-2012 05:42 AM

AHHHHH although I really want a souffle now

Cherry Who? 09-02-2012 05:57 AM

[lol]! Yes, me too! [lol]

SPOILERX

I felt so proud of myself when the Doctor was like "but where do you get milk for the souffles?" Usually I completely miss things like that before they're pointed out, but this time I was like "where is she getting ingredients for that?!" from the moment her "stranded" situation was made clear. I R SMURT.

Also, I'm really curious as to how this is going to play out. Miss Souffle was played by Jenna Louise Coleman, who was announced to play the Doctor's next companion, after Amy and Rory leave this season. BUT SHE'S A DALEK AND NOW SHE'S DEAD. HOW'S THAT GONNA WORK OUT? [:O]

Also, it was very heartwarming when Amy and Rory reconciled, but honestly... I was a bit happy they had split up? I always thought Amy treated Rory horribly, and while I don't like him having his heart broken or anything, his being "free" to move on and find happiness elsewhere was something I thought should happen.

Kamikaze Kendra 09-02-2012 08:04 AM

So. Many. Feels.

SPOILERX

I have to admit that I kind of liked the idea of a Rory/Amy split up as well, though in the beginning I was frustrated that there was no explanation about it. And hey, the reasons were completely legitimate... Amy giving Rory an option to go and find someone to have children and a family with is a big thing for her.

But at the same time I love them together. Love.

I caught on with the milk thing as well! Not to mention that her pod looked a bit too homey and not quite what something that a person who'd been stranded for a year in a single room would be working with. I mean, come on. Where was the milk? Where was the bathroom? How would her dress have been that pristine without a way to do laundry? Where was any kind of potable water? Her whole premise had me suspicious from the beginning.

As for how she becomes a companion... Well, time travel would be the only natural answer. Perhaps that wasn't a fixed point in time and it can change. Maybe he takes Oswin away from some point in time way before this episode takes place and thus she technically never becomes a Dalek? Then she gets to see the stars after all!

Though I wonder how River is going to react to Oswin when they eventually cross paths... because I can see a rather interesting relationship between the Doctor and Os...

hummy 09-02-2012 08:06 AM

hiya, KamiKazeKendra♥Admin's Pick winner!.

Kamikaze Kendra 09-02-2012 08:07 AM

Hi, hummydear! <3 Hehe. That was a complete shocker!
I can't talk much because I was just getting ready to go to bed after watching the new DW episode. D:
But I miss you!

The_Crow 09-02-2012 09:56 AM

I did want to mention that it was either Nine or early Ten (when Rose was still a companion) that Earth was the only place you could get milk, and he has to make a pit stop back to Earth every few days to restock. My mind immediately remembered that quote, as quirky as it was and as from 'long ago' as it was.

KatMagenta 09-02-2012 05:40 PM

Asylum of the Daleks spoilersX

I really like the Ponds as a couple so I'm glad they are seemingly back together but at the same time I hope they don't just gloss over their problems. They've probably said far worse to each other than Rory's catty comment about Amy's career.

Oswin was brilliant but now I'm equally confused about what will happen. If she is a descendant of Clara/Jenna-Louise's character then it goes against the suggestion the new assistant was unrelated to any character we've seen before. Although rule number one of Doctor Who is probably 'Moffat lies'... is it Christmas yet?

This is me and my friend more or less just talking over each other on MSN. I ask the important questions. My genius friend wins at explanations. I don't usually swear so much.
Quote:

Katie ☂: Why would Oswin imagine herself fucking up the souffles?
Becci: I dunno
Katie ☂: Unless it was necessary to maintain the illusion she never eats
Becci: Because a dalek would be good at souffles?
Katie ☂: and she can be like "it's because I'm shit at souffles"
Becci: It has a whisk, after all
So she is seperating herself from it?
Katie ☂: hahahaha

TL;DR Feels! Confusion! Me being an idiot!

Cherry Who? 09-02-2012 05:44 PM

Nice memory, Crow! [lol]

SPOILERX

I wondered that too, but... If the Doctor goes back in time and stops her from being a Dalek, then she can't help the Doctor on the planet and then they might die there, and he'd definitely never meet her. Wibbly!

The only way I could think of the Doctor going back and saving Os would be if he went to the point RIGHT AFTER he left the room initially and took her then. But of course, she's still a Dalek then. BUT!!! Have we seen any production photos of Jenna Louise Coleman filming while standing next to Matt Smith? MAYBE HE HAS A HUMANDALEK COMPANION?

Another theory that I've seen floating around is that she's Jenny, the Doctor's daughter. I don't think that could be, though. The Doctor was immune to the nanocloud thing because of his regenerative properties. Jenny had those too, so I don't see how she could have been turned into a Dalek. Not sure why people are thinking she's Jenny, except maybe because she's really smart? But it seems to be a prevalent thought in the Whosphere. I can't blame people for wanting any person they see to be Jenny. It'd be a huge disappointment if we never heard from Jenny again. But I'd be annoyed if Os was Jenny, honestly.

Also, I THINK the issue of the Pond's marital strife was covered in that Pond Life webseries, but I haven't watched it yet, so I'm not sure.

SPOILERX

*snrk* at the whisk comment. [lol]

I guess it was just that her illusion was so strong that it included things that weren't perfect. Or maybe she was bad at cooking before becoming a Dalek, so she just remembers that.

And a general theory:

SPOILERX

So I saw someone mention something somewhere else that got me thinking. In the beginning, there are Daleks trying to get into Oswin's "escape pod." Later we find out her room is indeed next to a room full of Daleks... but she says "they don't wake up for anyone (except the Doctor)." So there is only one room attached to Oswin's (as we saw on the map), but the Daleks in it DON'T WAKE UP. So the person who pointed this out was wondering what Daleks were trying to get into her room in the beginning.

BUT I FIGURED IT OUT! Those weren't real, corporeal Daleks. That was the Dalek part of her mind trying to "get in." Her boarding up the door was like her trying to keep her Dalek side out so she could stay human inside. Holy craaaap.

KatMagenta 09-02-2012 07:28 PM

Kat shamelessly reads all the spoilers.

Moar spoilersX

I think this is one of the reasons that people were saying Oswin is Jenny but like the OP says in their edit it's fairly likely they just reused an existing prop.

Forgot to say your general theory is brilliant. Mind. Blown.

Cherry Who? 09-02-2012 07:44 PM

SPOILERX

Oh wow! I hadn't noticed that. I saw some people mentioning a chair, but I didn't know what they meant. Okay, yeah, I can see why people are thinking that now. Though you might be right, it might just be prop recycling.

Really cruel prop recycling.

Cardinal Biggles 09-02-2012 09:56 PM

Oh, love the work of yoshitaka amano. I have a few art books, including one on vampire hunter D. And a D bust, which is lovely. I've not even seen the animations, or read the books, aside from a short story in the art book I mentioned.

LonelyOtaku97 09-03-2012 12:19 AM

Well thank you for finding the poster suitable to match with the crows cosplay and nice work on that to I love it. I'm so glad to have watched Aslyum of the Daleks it was definitely a really good episode.

Cherry Who? 09-03-2012 01:15 AM

I think Asylum will be considered on the same level as Blink. One of those episodes you can sit someone who's new to Who in front of and get them hooked. [lol]

LonelyOtaku97 09-03-2012 04:28 AM

Yeah and it was very interesting it just had these twist's I didn't expect i'm so happy it was on youtube.

Cherry Who? 09-03-2012 04:53 AM

Oh, some more thoughts on Asylum:

SPOILERX

I remember, two minutes in, saying "of COURSE the season starts with Rory getting shot."

When the Dalek was saying "EX---! EX---!" and Rory was like "eggs? Eggs? What, are those eggs? Is this an egg? Is this what you want?" I was literally saying "OH MY GOD, RORY, YOU DUMB SHIT" at my computer. [rofl] I love Rory, but holy crap, he was being dumb. Touching Daleks, pushing them... Derp.

KatMagenta 09-08-2012 07:34 PM

Non spoilery Dinosaurs on a Spaceship comment: Brian Williams/Pond is a legend.

Cherry Who? 09-09-2012 02:42 AM

That episode was rather silly in tone compared to last week's, wasn't it? [lol] I liked it, it was fun, but just very silly. [lol]
