SPOILERX

Rory saw a tombstone with his name on it, he didn't see his corpse. (Or, okay, he did, but that timeline got erased) Anyone (or at least the Doctor) can go buy a tombstone. have Rory's name engraved on it, and place it there to keep continuity while preventing Rory's actual death from happening then.

The jumping thing would have been a much more dramatic ending for them. The Doctor wasn't around at that moment to explain how their theory might or might not have worked, so maybe it could have ended up that they died and caused the paradox, but it didn't spit them back out alive.

Also, speaking of them jumping... Did anyone notice that a (long) moment before they jumped, NEITHER OF THEM WAS LOOKING AT THE STATUE OF LIBERTY ANYMORE?! [lol] Rory was watching it really intently, and I thought they wouldn't jump because the statue would get them, so I was paying really close attention to when they both looked away... and then they did and nothing happened. :/

KatMagenta 10-05-2012 09:48 PM

I just like writing things in this blue box bit. But yet again, SPOILER.X

Eh, I meant to say something about Rory just seeing his name on a grave not being an issue but the fact it was specifically his grave might have mattered. But then I said I was keeping out of this side of the debate precisely because I say stupid things like that.

I did notice nobody was looking at the Statue of Liberty but my Trillian chat log has decided not to save anything from the iOS app so you're spared my exact "GUYS IT MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA TO LOOK AT THE STATUE DHUEFHXOIU" comment. (It was probably that)

Kamikaze Kendra 10-05-2012 09:59 PM

SPOILERX

I noticed them not looking at good old Lady Liberty as well, and I can't figure out how that didn't factor in to anything. I mean, you'd think that the statue would have gotten them and they would both have been trapped in the angels' food farm forever...

Yeah, them not popping back into reality after creating the paradox would have been a much better ending for them

Cardinal Biggles 10-06-2012 05:01 AM

SPOILERX

who says the angels have to be aggressors every second? They are living entities, they can be unmotivated and distracted too.

Kamikaze Kendra 10-06-2012 06:47 AM

SPOILERX

I think it's just assumed because in each of their prior episodes they've been billed as the perfect assassins. Not to mention that if that building existed simply as a food source, they'd probably be policing it pretty seriously and she'd take that opportunity as a moment of weakness and attack...

Cardinal Biggles 10-06-2012 11:02 PM

SPOILERX

I was mostly kidding/playing the devil's advocate. I can't say I'm freaked out by the angels, I think them pretty neat. The ability to send people back through time when threatened? What an amazing trick and product of evolution! I like the idea behind them too, being interested in Victorian funerary approaches and accouterments. Anyway. I do think for something alive, it's hard to be "on" all the time, you know.

Connielass 10-07-2012 03:21 AM

I'm really, really hoping my sister got me a TARDIS souvenir from Cardiff.

The_Crow 10-07-2012 06:35 AM

Cardiff?
She can stop by the Ianto memorial!

It does make me sad that there is no memorial for Toshiko or Owen, though. They gave their lives for Cardiff and greater, considering it was a Nuclear Plant they were stopping from going critical. The radiation would have shown up in the grass on the eastern coast of the US... just like how the Japanese bit has shown up in the grass of the Western US.

(I did revisit the front page and it mentioned any major plot twists in any season of Doctor Who only, not the spin-offs. It's not DW and people tend to either follow Torchwood to the T or know nothing about it- quite unlike Doctor Who. The only people I've met who have only seen just a portion of Torchwood are people to whom I am introducing/showing the programme for the first time.)

Well, Ianto did have a tie-in in season/series 4 but most people probably won't remember him... the guy with jack at the underground torchwood base channel surfing through the serious news to 'what did I drink last night, furniture polish?' before jack runs outside... and then on the subwave network he interrupts, introduces himself, and has a whole two lines or so to everyone else. Whovians don't really know anything he did aside from the fact he worked with Jack.

The BBC have uploaded a video of an unshot scene from after the end of The Angels Take Manhattan:
Linking in case preview images/description are also spoilery

Ramble of spoilersX

Where do I sign up for the Brian and Wilf show where they garden and stargaze and are genuinely lovely blokes but they both know the effect the Doctor can have on the family of a companion but mostly gardening?

Kamikaze Kendra 10-12-2012 03:55 PM

That totally just broke my heart and made me happy at the same time...

KatMagenta 10-12-2012 03:56 PM

Oop, added a missing word into my ramble so it might make sense now.

Feelings. [gonk]

The_Crow 10-16-2012 02:16 PM

I wish that unshot scene was actually shot and in the episode; I would have felt a little more fulfilled.

Cherry Who? 10-16-2012 06:40 PM

Yeah, that should have been filmed. That would have been nice.

MacSen191 10-16-2012 08:02 PM

I just watched the unshot scence and wow... just wow. Feeling the tears welling up. I so wish this would have been shot instead...

Connielass 10-18-2012 04:10 AM

So my boyfriend finally gave me access to Dr Who through his iphone.
I just watched series 7 episode 1 tonight.

At first it was kind of disappointing me, but then it finally got to the point, and I was all fuzzy warmness by the time it ended.

SpoileryX

I'm a bit confused, though, as to how Amy and Rory went from disgustingly in love to split and on the verge of divorce. That one threw me for a loop.

Cherry Who? 10-18-2012 05:57 AM

SPOILERX

Quite a bit of time (for Amy and Rory) took place between the previous season and this season. I think it might have been a year, maybe more. By the middle point of series seven, Amy and Rory are in their thirties. When they started traveling with the Doctor, they were 19, maybe 20. So quite a lot of time passes off-camera.

Also, I like your avatar! Looks cozy and comfy. [:)]

Connielass 10-18-2012 05:16 PM

Thank ya! So does yours! It's gotten nippy round these parts, so cozy and comfy are the order of the day, and I'm LOVING IT!

Divacita 10-21-2012 06:44 AM

I stll need to make A light piece for my Tardis outfit. My toddler wants me to go as the Tardis & him as the Doctor but my Dress needs A Light Cap. XD

Cardinal Biggles 10-21-2012 08:06 AM

That's too cute! Which doctor does he want to be?

Divacita 10-22-2012 07:28 AM

He wants to be the 11th Doctor. He loves Matt Smith.

Cardinal Biggles 10-22-2012 10:41 PM

From the cosplays I've seen, that's a very good look for toddlers. I can't claim to know a bunch about Mister Smith, but he seems to be very good with/appeal to kids. Which makes him an excellent fit for a 'kids' show'.

Zsofiya 10-23-2012 12:39 AM

Hello all!

New to all this, but a longtime Whovian. My college boyfriend got me hooked on the show waay back in 19..ahem. Put it this way, Romana was my favorite companion without any competition for a long time. Have been watching the new series since the start, and haved loved every minute of it. Can't wait for the Xmas special.

Cardinal Biggles 10-23-2012 02:49 AM

Hello! I feel like the others should be giving you the proper welcome, as they are Whovians too, and I... watch the show occasionally and like to come in here for the various banter opportunities. But I think you'll find it an enjoyable spot to frequent :)

Cherry Who? 10-23-2012 03:17 AM

Welcome, Zsofiya! I'm quite the fan, but I can't claim to have seen more than a few moments prior to the new series. Perhaps you could recommend some of your favorite Classic Who episodes. [:)]

Kamikaze Kendra 10-23-2012 04:08 AM

Hi, Zsofiya!
I just started watching this year and started with the ninth Doctor, so I'd like some of those Classic Who recommendations as well! I've wanted to delve into them but just never known where to start!
