Cherry Who? 10-26-2013 05:24 AM

There are no Saturday showings around here for me. There's a great number on that following Monday, but I'm not sure if I'll go. At that point it will have already been out for a few days (I'll likely want to watch it on Saturday or Sunday), and my boyfriend will be working so I can't even make it a fun date. It'd just be me paying to watch a show that, lately, annoys me, by myself. [lol] If only there was a Saturday showing here, then it could be a date night with the boyf. Now that would be worth putting together our couples cosplay for!

Bearzy 10-26-2013 11:32 AM

Definitely, Cherry! My flatmates and I are watching it on TV I think because it's going to be on at the exact same time as in the UK, or so I think. (It'll be a weird hour though, because we're 13 hours ahead as of tonight!)

KatMagenta 10-26-2013 10:34 PM

There are only Saturday showings from what I've seen the UK, I guess it is mostly based on time differences.

Taking it back again. Boyf's gonna try to get off work that night, and so will I. He got a load of dark blue fabric for free from his work, and apparently his mom makes dresses. So the cosplay is back on! He's going to be so lazy about his costume, though. We were at a comic shop and he saw one of those T-shirts with 11's classic outfit printed on it, so he bought that. [lol] I told him that made my costume look worse by association, that it wasn't actually cosplay, etc. but he still did it. He just hates the idea of wearing used clothing, so he refused to get a blazer at goodwill. [lol] I'M GOING ALL OUT FOR THIS, THOUGH! [illgetu]

My mom is the same way about clothes. I on the other hand love a piece with patina.
Speaking of cosplays, I can't speak highly enough of this: Happy Halloween! Our recreation of Gustav Klimt’s painting “The Kiss” » Mai&Bri Photography

I like new stuff as it's much easier to find things in a nice style and fit, but I'm absolutely not opposed to thrift store stuff. I find lots of lovely oversized sweaters at thrift stores.

Hi there! Whovian here although not at all caught up. (I had some disagreements with the way Moffat is piloting the TARDIS right now and stopped watching for a bit.)

I love reading meta about the characters and setting of Doctor Who and find most of the meta I read on Tumblr. Also, read a bit of fic and listen to Chameleon Circuit. Mr. Pond is one of my favorite songs.

Bearzy 10-29-2013 01:59 PM

Mr Pond is fantastic. My favourite of theirs is Teenage Rebel.

The Wanderer 10-29-2013 02:51 PM

Ooh, that's definitely a good one too. Speaking of Mr. Pond and Whovian music.. *pops open a tab for YouTube*

Bearzy 10-29-2013 02:56 PM

I love your avatar's sweater, by the way. Very cosy.

The Wanderer 10-29-2013 03:08 PM

Aww, thank you. I'm a newbie to Menewsha and some nice lady gave me a few items to get started out with. [:)]

Bearzy 10-29-2013 03:14 PM

In that case, welcome! I hope you like it here!

The Wanderer 10-29-2013 03:26 PM

I'm hoping so too. [:D]

So how did you get into Doctor Who?

Bearzy 10-29-2013 03:33 PM

A friend spoiled every major plot twist (up to Angels take Manhattan) over the course of a year or so, then gave me all the episodes on a flashdrive. One sick day I watched all of Nine, and here I am.

The Wanderer 10-29-2013 03:37 PM

Someone I knew sat me down and had me watch Blink but I didn't immediately hop the TARDIS. It was a while later that my boyfriend and I caught a Doctor Who marathon on television gearing up for the Water of Mars and since we didn't have anything better to do, we sat down and watched it all. And recorded what we had missed and watched those too.

Went back for Nine and since then we've tried to keep up to date. We even visited a Doctor Who warehouse here in Indiana down by Indy and picked up some merchandise.

Bearzy 10-29-2013 03:39 PM

Cool stuff! Yeah, I basically just wanted to work out how River Song was supposed to work, because my friend had tried explaining her timeline, but had not succeeded very well.

The Wanderer 10-29-2013 03:53 PM

River's timeline is something else. Truly.

Bearzy 10-29-2013 03:56 PM

It really is. I was gobsmacked by how convoluted it was in the end.

KatMagenta 10-29-2013 06:07 PM

Hello The Wanderer!

My parents watched Classic Who back in the day so we've been watching it on telly since the new series started. [:)]

The Wanderer 10-29-2013 06:34 PM

Ooh, that's awesome. It's always nice when a family geeks together. [:)]

Connielass 10-30-2013 10:03 PM

Sooner or later I'll buy the seasons in order.

But the first one I'll buy is the 50th anniversary episode.

I don't care HOW much money they ask for it.

KatMagenta 10-31-2013 12:06 AM

The only DVDs I have is the first series with Nine and slightly more randomly Remembrance of the Daleks.

Connielass 10-31-2013 02:46 AM

I've only got Snowmen.

Something you wanted to say, Kirin?
