Rice cakes and M&Ms... are the rice cakes flavored or plain?

Just finished eating a very lovely pork chop, collard greens and refried beans. Y'all know you're glad you aren't here!

Paranoid Cricket 03-05-2009 11:26 PM

Oh no, not rice -cakes-. Rice crackers. They're an asian sort of food. *Reads back of bag*

Quote:

Rice crackers are classified as a natural, healthy snack food originating from Japan some 200 years ago. The product is made from 100 percent glutinous rice and is shaped to a variety of forms and sizes.

It takes a full seven days to transform rice into rice crackers. During the process, no chemicals or additives are added. The rice, subjected to a natural fermentation process, produces amino acid - an important protein derived from the starch in the glutinous rice. The rice grains steamed in a huge pressure cooker form into a big cake (also called mochi). The mochi goes into cold storage for fermentation for three days. It is then removed and cut into different shapes. The cut pieces are dried for two days and allowed to stand for one day to bring them up to room temperature.

The next step is to toast the dry mochi in an oven to make it crisp. The process is completed by blending the product with different flavours or adding soya sauce to taste. To make them even fancier, the rice crackers are wrapped in seaweed.
Also, the dried seaweed give is an extra flavor, which I enjoy. It's an acquired taste for some. Michael won't touch them, for instance. I love them. ^-^

I think I know what you're talking about. They're not teeny rice cakes then, they are crackers. I'm a cracker fiend. More than candy even. I love M&Ms, but if you set a bag of crackers that I love in front of me and a bag of M&Ms, the crackers always win.

The description you provided is making me want to go to the store.

Kierys 03-05-2009 11:45 PM

They are so tasty. Mmmm. But they do get stuck in my bad tooth. I have one with a slight chip indentation in it, so they get caught between my chipped tooth and the one next to it. I have to get a toothpick or a needle to get it out, because my toothbrush is too pliable. I need to go to the dentist and see if there's anything I can do about that.

Elmira Swift 03-05-2009 11:49 PM

I'm not far behind you with the dental issues. I know you have to be careful with that in order to avoid infection. That can put a damper on enjoying tasty food!!

Kierys 03-05-2009 11:52 PM

Yeah, I had a broken tooth in the back of my mouth once and it got infected, made me really sick, so we had to go to the dentist but they said until I stopped throwing up, they couldn't do anything, so I had to go to the doctor's to get something to stop me throwing up and they ended up having to hook me up to an IV because I was sooo dehydrated. I couldn't even hold water down. Finally, when I was done throwing up, they took out the bad tooth and my gum healed up. And then, not long after, my stupid wisdom tooth came in on that side, but it's crooked, so I have to have it taken out eventually. Rawr. At least the dentist gave me laughing gas. That was my first experience with it, and it was hilarious.

Elmira Swift 03-06-2009 12:07 AM

*Laughs uproariously about the laughing gas* I had to have my two lower wisdom teeth pulled after I got out of the Navy at a VA hospital. Nothing but novacaine. One had roots that curved and had a cyst in the socket. I still have scars along my gumline from the surgeries. The upper ones weren't as bad, but I went to a civilian surgeon. Had laughing gas. I was so ok with them doing anything to me - insert an IV, throw me off a bridge - I wouldn't have cared at all. Lots of laughing by me, not so much by the surgeon and nurses trying to put in an IV. I don't think I've ever bruised that badly - but I didn't care, because everything was so funny!

I've known people who've had teeth become so badly infected that they couldn't open their mouths.

Kierys 03-06-2009 12:17 AM

Yeah, when he first put me under I was thinking, 'Huh...I don't feel any different. I wonder if it's working.' And, as if he read my mind, he said, "So, is it working?" and I opened my mouth to say, "I don't think so." But all that came out was, "Heeheehehee, yeeeeeeeeah," like some drugged up loon. So he chuckled and said, "Yeah, it's working." I just sat there giggling like an idiot. I started laughing at random things he'd say and even an hour after leaving the dentist's, I was still giddy.

Elmira Swift 03-06-2009 12:23 AM

Yup. I was grateful that a friend of mine picked me up from the office. I barely need to take a motrin or tylenol for it to work well on me, so I was almost falling down drunk and silly when she arrived. Sounds like your experience was similar!

Strawberry Octopus 03-06-2009 12:44 AM

Cricket - I have to resign from the game; I cant keep up with all the things that i've taken on this round. However, I hope I have not stoped anyones fun. Maybe after the staff event I'll try again, but for now im much to buisy. >_<

Saelia 03-06-2009 12:51 AM

Hey guys!

This message is mostly directed at Cricket since he's the host: I hate to be doing this again, but I won't be able to reach my post count today because I'm about to take off and go spend some time with my friends, and we're going to see the new movie Watchmen, the midnight showing tonight, so I'll pretty much be offline and away from computers for all the rest of today. I will not be on Menewsha and posting in other threads besides this one, I can assure you.

But anyway, my apologies, and I hope I can maybe make it up later on this weekend. Friday is also quite busy, but I'll get posts in, and I work on Saturday but I bet I make a few posts in the evening... I have TONS of homework this weekend, actually... Gosh, this sucks. Spanish and Reading assignments, for-the-lose. x_x

I'm terribly sorry if I don't show up very much the next few days, but I promise I will pop in whenever I can.

Elmira Swift 03-06-2009 12:52 AM

Wow - I didn't know about this staff appreciation thingy - have I been living under a rock??

Wanted to see the whole ensemble - you look lovely! I will miss seeing your strawberry-ness in the game. :(

Kierys 03-06-2009 02:46 AM

It's so quiet tonight, that's really weird. I wonder when ze Master has gone?

secretdae007 03-06-2009 03:48 AM

I think le Cricket mentioned getting an infusion today... So he is probably too worn out from that to get on.

Kierys 03-06-2009 03:57 AM

Oooooh yeah, I had forgotten about that. Poor Cricky. Those infusions must really wipe him out.

I'm glad I managed to see this.

-Flops down into the thread- Cricket has a headache... Argh...

Edit: Okay guys, we've got suicides. Other than that, no actual kills.

Kierys 03-06-2009 04:37 AM

*Snuggles Cricket* I hope you feel better soon hon. I know this was probably a very draining day for you.

Insane Cricket 03-06-2009 04:54 AM

Yeah, really draining.

Sooo.... I went to the doctor's. I got there early, so I got stuck early. One stick, no tears.

My uncle came to visit me for a little while while I was there.

I found out that my cellphone, though Tracfone claimed they reactivated it, they really didn't. So I've been relying on a dead phone to get me out of trouble. Yes, that's right, I have over three hundred minutes and I can only call the police.

Well, they better pull up a chair.

So I'm going to call Tracfone tomorrow and tell them that my phone was never reactivated and that they better reactivate it and make it up to me because I rely on it for emergency occasions.

My infusion took three hours instead of the usual two. Dunno why, my body just wasn't sucking it down like it should've been.

Got into an argument with my infusion nurse. She was yelling, and I was trying to simply explain something without belittling her or anything, and she just wouldn't hear me out.

After about twenty or so minutes of sitting in angry silence, I finally managed to get her to listen to me and explain myself, and she was no longer as angry, but still, I know she looks down on me. Oh well.

So, on the way home we got Burger King fries (yum) and then I spontaneously dropped in on Mike (my best friend) to tell him it only took one stick and to give him a hug (sometimes being spontaneous is the only way you can get his attention) and ended up with an invitation to go to Olivia's house to watch The Dark Knight. Of course, I couldn't pass that up.

So I called Brandon and had him come with us, because he hadn't seen the movie yet and because I had intended on pulling him out of bed to go somewhere or to just spend time with me because I had a little bit of energy.

So we went to Olivia's and watched the movie in the basement (with shag carpeting in the room, and I'm allergic to shag carpet). So about a third into the movie I start feeling worn out, and halfway in I start feeling the effect of being in the room with shag carpet. By the end of the movie my back and ass hurt really bad from sitting in an uncomfortable chair, and I have a headache from the carpeting around me.

My neck is also killing me.

So I came home, and here I am. Tired, worn out, feverish, with a headache, and feeling as though I'll be unable to even fall asleep if I tried.

Yay.

Paradoxical Cricket 03-06-2009 05:11 AM

Hey Cricket. I hope you feel better bro! That must not be fun.

I've got bunches of home tonight. Not fun, yet again. And I need some more cash. i work for ChaCha and I really need to work more hours on there.

How is everyone else doing?

Insane Cricket 03-06-2009 05:16 AM

Wishing you'd pay more attention to the shift key?

And I don't correct you because it annoys you, I correct you because it's a huge pet peeve when people type lazy and because I'm enforcing the thread's rules.

In threads that don't have literacy rules, I keep my mouth shut. (But mist of mine will have literacy requirements, so I can escape the annoyance of illiteracy.)

My head and neck and back and ass are still killing me. D:

Gahahah! I got you in YOUR OWN THREAD!
Haha, I know Cricket. I'm sorry. I try, I really do. I just don't have the discipline to check over all of my posts before posting!

Insane Cricket 03-06-2009 05:46 AM

You don't even have to check over your own posts, just watch what you're typing on the screen. You know, don't look at the keys but look at the screen instead? It's really easy you know...

I rarely ever look at the keyboard when I type, even when typing one-handed.

Okay, so you got me, once. I also have a massive headache, like I already said. =S How many times have I gotten you?

Paradoxical Cricket 03-06-2009 05:55 AM

Haha, I do look at the screen. I guess I'm just a bit ADD.

Yeah, I know. I'm just messing with you Insane Cricket. I do it out of love!

Elmira Swift 03-06-2009 01:15 PM

Feeling any better this morning, Cricket? I'm glad that they only needed to stick you once.

Checking in now and trying to keep track of errant trades - no one on this thread, of course! - then errands. Should be back later this morning.
