Wow, this is a convenient conversation. The roommate is having similar troubles with her neighbor. My family has never really had problems with the neighbors. Most of the people in our neighborhood and on our street are older people though there are a few families. We have a really noisy dog but we don't really let him out much to just sit outside.

As for the smoking bit, I've given up on my parents. They've been smoking all of their life and I'm tired of trying to convince them. I only get the brunt of the dad's cigars when I'm on the computer. He smokes in the garage and the little brother and the mother get the worst of it. The mom has cut back on cigarettes but that's because sister-in-law #1 gave her an ultimatum: either stop smoking all around your house or my daughter doesn't come to visit. That got the message through, even if only a little bit...

I officially feel even more like a medical disaster than I already felt. Damnit all.

And I got one of the most annoying PMs ever while I was gone.

I'll give a cookie to anyone who can tell me what's wrong with that message.

I had a teeth cleaning scheduled for today. I didn't even manage to get that done. Apparently, we're going to have to break it up into two cleanings, because of my high risk of infection, past heart condition, and sensitivity of teeth and gums.

Yay.

Sorry I dropped off the face of the earth like that, but my network died on me yet again. Phone, TV, and internet just poofed away. Couldn't even get through to call the company and whine at them about it. Took over 45 minutes for me to reach the right company and then had a recording.

Anyhow, I am alive. Glad to see Cricket is here - not glad to hear that the dental stuff is sounding like too much exciting and not enough relief. Why do I think that the PM that was sent to you was done to intentionally annoy you?

It'll be spread out over the next two months. Joy. And actually, it went from a teeth cleaning to two teeth cleanings that require numbness, a filling, and possibly a second filling and/or root canal.

Most of them are annoying. A psychologist is one that can't prescribe medications, a psychiatrist is the one that can prescribe medications.

I happen to have a psychologist, and he's not annoying at all. He's a lot like I am, and he's funny, and he's intelligent, and he doesn't overuse that annoying time old phrase, "And how does that make you feel?"

Mine is a very good psychologist, and I almost didn't go to him because I've had horrible experience with psychologists in the past, as well as one psychiatrist who's whole thing was to tell me that all of my problems with my mother were my own fault (even the ones that I was far too young to have had blamed on me) and that I should be medicated.

Okay, thank you very much for the clarification, Cricket. Then I had a psychiatrist, but she just retired, so I'm going today to a psychologist, I think, who will then recommend a new psychiatrist for me. I hated my old psychiatrist, though, because her favorite way to test if my medications were working was to simply start bad-mouthing my father to my face. Mom and Dad are divorced, and at one point Dad had to deal with some crap that he didn't want me involved in, so he disappeared for like, three or four years. My old psychiatrist loved to point out that time period, like "And where was your father? He wasn't there, was he?" Of course, medication or not, I would blow up at her.

Hell, at one point she called me a bitch! She didn't have the right to call me that, even if I am one. Mom didn't think anything of it, though... >.< Glad that stupid doctor's gone... *sigh*

Hey everyone! How's it goin'? I'm home from school. Today has sucked so far, but I'm hoping it will get better now.

The university I went to has a fairly large psychology department. In fact, they just had a doctoral program approved last year. I must say that the majority of the people I knew who went through their program as either and undergraduate or graduate student, needed therapy more than they needed to be the ones who were helping others. I saw a psychologist briefly after Tom died, and it helped. Lily sees a psychiatrist and a psychologist for her Asperger's. The psychiatrist is basically there to evaluate how well things are going - and he's a pretty decent character - while the psychologist is mostly just the facilitator for group therapy.

Cricket - why does that not surprise me about the person who PM'd you? I'd suggest blocking them if they persist and then reporting them for being a nuisance.

Hey Elmira! Yeah, it seems to be that way with psychologists. My uncle is a psychologist, and he seriously needs help. Poor guy can't keep his life together.

I just think it's funny as hell that not more than three hours ago, I had a lengthy conversation with a friend about life under the roof of her psycho psychologist mom. All I kept thinking about was how glad I was that I switched majors. I took ONE intro class and wanted to beat people over the head for being a pack of whiners who couldn't reason their way out of a shoebox. The phrase, "inane question" repeated on a loop through my mind every time someone asked a question. If I thought it was just the intro class, that would be one thing. But, noooo. After taking several upper-level anthropology classes with psych majors, I knew I would have been carted away after going postal if I'd stayed in that department.

Haha, and that is why most psychologists go crazy. Plus, imagine listening to crazy people all day long talk about their stupid lives. It would drive me bonkers as well. Haha

Gahhh. I hate physics homework. Were you any good at physics in highschool? I'm pretty smart usually, but I can't deal with physics. I don't pay attention at all in that class.
