Hello, Mister Winston.

My name is Hudson Craybell. I am by no means glamorous or rich or spoiled or a child protege or even interesting. But I am writing you these letters on account of my mother being a very kind person and wanting to let every person in the world have the chance to make friends. She says lonely people need someone to talk to even if it is by letters because you live in Georgia.

I don't know how lonely you really are but she says you live alone in a small apartment in Georgia. I have never been to Georgia. If it is nice there I may travel some day to it. I live in Washington, it rains here a lot. In fact it is raining at this very moment that I am writing you this letter. Does it rain in Georgia? Also if it does what is the preferred color of galoshes? Most people here wear regular black, I prefer bright lime green with every color polka dots. But I have never seen a pair like that.

My mother is very smart. She studies math and science and teaches it to adults who never learned in school properly. Are you smart? Mother says to ask lots of questions so we will find some "commons." I don't know for sure what she meant by that, but I would like to ask you if you like Christmas? It is my favorite holiday because Mother and I always decorate the outside of our home with lights and make cookies! We make very good cookies, maybe next Christmas I will send you a few.

Another question is have you ever had a friend through letters before? I have in the third grade, my teacher Mrs. Ayburn assigned us "Pen Pals." My pals name was Jack, he was nice. I sent him some Christmas cookies and he sent me a knitted scarf that he made himself! With no help either! Well, except the stitching of my name, his mom did that. Every year since I send him cookies and He sends me a new scarf. Last year he even did the stitching of my name himself!

I should tell you about my self now, I am 14 years 7 months and 19 days old. I have brownish colored hair, its grown out to my shoulders. I am allergic to carrots and pineapples. My favorite food is noodles, with red sauce (not to much), with a big glass of 2% milk. Whole milk is too much when 1% is starting to taste watery. Sometimes I make bubbles in my milk with a straw. Did you ever do that before? Mother gets mad sometimes but sometimes when she is really happy she will do it with me. Not often though because of the mess it makes.

Well Mr. Winston, I should end this letter now and send it off so you can receive it.
