Pearl; Whos that?

Shizuki; Same here, I take trains everywhere and buses. They've finally expanded the train lines here.

Crazy; I haven't really researched places in America I want to go to. o_o; I do know I want to go there, at one point.. but I need to do some serious research. like, I already know that if I go to Japan I'd want to go to Shibuya to shop, and i'd stay in a capsule hotel.. xD;

@ SLS-
Comedian, YouTube him.

KatMagenta 12-12-2008 07:24 PM

Tim Minchin! I would kidnap him and force him to play the piano for me... well I would have to steal his piano too.

I'm from the same place as The Futureheads and er, Lauren Laverne. Damn Newcastle gets all the other talent.

XxXshizuki-chanXxX 12-12-2008 07:25 PM

XD CAPSULO HOTELUU!!!
i love them o3o i feel like a dead person in a coffin XDDD

and i can WALK to lots of shops in shibuya

Pearl 12-12-2008 07:25 PM

Ooh, you know Tim? He is very cute and funny.

My town bred H.G. Wells. YAY intellect.

XxXshizuki-chanXxX 12-12-2008 07:28 PM

0.0 uuuhhh, i dont know anyone famous from harajuku XD except fashion designers

Spanish Leek Squared 12-12-2008 07:30 PM

Pearl; Okay, I shall!
edit; Oh, him!! -photographic memory-

Shizuki; lol. xD They look pretty fun, and well they are cheap, aren't they?

Luckkyy. >w> I'm hoping to go to Japan in the next two years. I was meant to go on a student exchange (we have a sister school in Japan) in year 10 but the Japanese Principal canceled to instead have a chinese-japanese exchange to improve relations, then in year 11 I didn't have enough money to go and students in their final year of high school aren't allowed to go on the trip due to studies.

just thinking about those capsule hotels make me feel SO clausterfobic I could about explode! It really sets off my anxiety ... just a minute, I'm going to need to take some meds for that ...

staying here with me is ALWAYS fascinating! And it's only like an hour and a half by car to get to some bigger cities to shop and have fun!

KatMagenta 12-12-2008 07:34 PM

I first saw Mr Minchin on The World Stands Up and he was very funny. I only know a few of his songs though, I should really look at more of his material. I have 'Rock and Roll Nerd' stuck in my head now. >.<

Yay for intellect. People probably hear my accent and assume I'm slow.

XxXshizuki-chanXxX 12-12-2008 07:34 PM

yup, like 5000 yen per night

Spanish Leek Squared 12-12-2008 07:39 PM

Shizuki; That is good.

Anything you suggest I check out while i'm in Japan? x3

XxXshizuki-chanXxX 12-12-2008 07:42 PM

go to some shrines *they are AWESOME* of course come to my harajuku and get some goth-loli clothes XD go to kyoto and see a geisha 8D *has seen 4!* ummm, if you come in springtime go to see miyako odori, and sakuran blossoming, and pretty much everything they tell you in the internets XD

crazymuch 12-12-2008 07:42 PM

$55 a night, to sleep in a coffin? The hotel next to me has nice big rooms with king size bed, tv on a bureau, a table with 2 chairs with a phone, an night stand on each side of the bed, a full kitchen and bathroom ... $25 a night.

XxXshizuki-chanXxX 12-12-2008 07:44 PM

XDDD but we have hyper-inflated prices here crazy o3o

He has some very funny ones. My favourite song of his is "Dark Side".

We look at accents in my English Language A level... I wrote an essay in which I said that RP is no longer the only 'accepted' accent anymore (unlike in the '20s) but that regional accents are still subjected to stereotypes, and professional jobs are still associated with RP, but there is no prejudice.

KatMagenta 12-12-2008 07:49 PM

Ugh, even with the sucky exchange rate (thanks Mr Darling!) that sounds so cheap. There's a Travelodge near where I live that charges £50 per night and you wouldn't sleep because it's above a row of nightclubs (and a rather nice pub, but that's not the point).

Pearl: I didn't do any English past GCSE. I guess I'll just be associated with being a miner in that case. XD

Pearl 12-12-2008 07:51 PM

@ Kat - what A levels did you do? No English? o.o
I'm doing Lit and Lang as separate a levels.

crazymuch 12-12-2008 07:51 PM

blergh ... HEY!! IT'S SNOWING!!! *runs outside*

Pearl 12-12-2008 07:52 PM

Gah, jealous.
We have one day of snow a year.

Spanish Leek Squared 12-12-2008 07:54 PM

Shizuki; oh, i've always wanted to go to Shrines.
xD lol, I will write that down, I totally want to see Geisha.. >w> Although sometimes (rarely) you may come accross one in Harajuku, i've been told.

XxXshizuki-chanXxX 12-12-2008 07:56 PM

i want snow... they said MAYBE next week, but when hitohiro-san says MAAAYYYBEEEE
its means no...

0.0 wtf a geisha in harajuku, no wai, ive only seen them in kyoto in the summer and once in spring

KatMagenta 12-12-2008 07:58 PM

Pearl: I phrased that badly; I'm in my second year now. In my first year I did General Studies, Maths, ICT, Biology and Chemistry (ABABB respectively). I think they count ICT as an 'essay based' subject so they didn't make me change my options. I'm still doing Maths, ICT and Chemistry as well as that 'Extended Project Qualification' thing. I have university offers... scary.

It snowed for about three days up here and then was icy for another week. -_-

Last year I did:
A: Psychology
B: Lit
B: Lang
D: History :( I loved that subject.

This year I'm doing Psych, Lit and Lang, predicted AAA. I'm retaking a Lit paper and a Lang paper in January.

I have offers from Exeter and UEA. UEA is famous for English and creative writing; Ian McEwan went there - he wrote Atonement. (I hope that wasn't pointing out the obvious!)

crazymuch 12-12-2008 08:04 PM

I LOVE snow! They are saying this snow will continue at LEAST until tomorrow night at 10am!! I'm So excited! I just love the stuff!!!

hrrrm, but my car isn't starting right now ... how much worse will it be when I HAVE to go somewhere??

XxXshizuki-chanXxX 12-12-2008 08:05 PM

SNOW FTW XD
